Really high load average. Config problem?
helo I am running samba on an 800 Duron / 640MB PC2100 DDR Ram / 40 GB IBM Deskstar with slackware 8 / 2.2.17 Optimized for Duron. Whenever I copy files to the server, my load average gets to be about 6.0-8.0! On the 700 Duron we have at the office where I work, (same specs except it has 768MB of SDRAM and a RAID Array). Would the reason my box runs so slow be because its swap drive and the

Compiling while * is running
I just fetched today's cvs (1/30/04 11:10:31). Compiles/installs on my test machine (ASUS A7V, 900 MHZ). However, If I try to compile on my production machine (Elite K7S5A, 2.4GHz, 512MB) while * is running the zaptel and asterisk compiles seg fault. I am assuming that they will compile correctly if I bring down * and rmmod the zaptel driver. 0.7.1 compiled and is now running. Is there

Include= is being ignored
I have the following Problem, include doesn't seem to work very well, its VERY intermitantly. The files are attached below along with an smbclient output. Basically I am setting up a PUBLIC share, that if I connect to will give me admin access. It contains service packs and fixes, so when I install someones system, they can just click and connect, without being prompted for a password.

Installing the none commercial intel g729codecs into Asterisk@Home 2.2?
Hang on.... there's a non commercial G729 codec that will work with Asterisk? Can someone point me to where I can find it? Thanks, Doug. -----Original Message----- From: Francesco Peeters (Asterisk) [mailto:francesco@fampeeters.com] Sent: Sun 1/22/2006 8:27 AM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Cc: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion

Migrating Asterisk
Hello All, My asterisk installation has now been running for over two months without a hitch, and I've decided it's time to move things around a bit. It's currently installed on a 2.7GHz Celeron under RH9 installed on a 10GB "leftover" drive. Thanks to the strange marketing method called "Mail-In-Rebate", I have a fresh 160GB drive ($50), and I'm itching to

SPARC SATA, please.
Is there a card for OpenSolaris 2009.06 SPARC that will do SATA correctly yet? Need it for a super cheapie, low expectations, SunBlade 100 filer, so I think it has to be notched for 5v PCI slot, iirc. I''m OK with slow -- main goals here are power saving (sleep all 4 disks) and 1TB+ space. Oh, and I hate to be an old head, but I don''t want a peecee. They still scare me :)

Strange battery power shortage on an Unitek iZi UPS 525
Hi everyone, I've been using nut 2.0.3 for more than a year on a Unitek iZi UPS 525 (which is a rebadged Mustek). Everything worked fine and last week, when pressed by RENEL :-) I ran a battery test which showed the system to have 17min of back-up power (yes, still haven't figured out how to use upssched...) The system used for testing was an old PIII/500MHz/512KB cache, 256MB RAM (3 x

Re: parting shot re nVIDIA on Linux
Hey, I only got a Voodoo Banshee because one was up for auction locally, and I could get it cheap. I also had good results with a cheapie S3 card. I suspect that most any other card might work better than nVIDIA. So if you want to "cut the Gordian knot" and solve the problems fast, F**K nVIDIA, and try any other display card. Rick

delay problem
Hi, I've experienced excessive delay when called from one extension number to another... This happened unstable, as the delay range between 2 - 20 seconds... I'm using Duron 950 MHz with memory 256 MB as asterisk server and my asterisk currently serves 30-40 accounts.. Concurrent calls vary between 1-10 calls. Is my Duron overwhelmed by the load? The delay exists in queue, local

AW: Choosing a processor
Hi, if it comes to mp3... my 'old' Duron-700 delivers a rip-and-encode performance six (6!) times faster then 'single speed' (bladeEnc 0.94.2). So take the cheapest Duron box available, and you will be happy, for real small money. Panic asus a7m266 with 2 512Mb PC2400 DDR333 memory
Hi, Last thursday, I installed (20/Mar/2003) 2 kingston valueram 512Mb PC2400 DDR333 (KVR333X64C25/512) sticks on my A7M266 running up to date -STABLE. The system became unstable right after installation, any form of system load triggered a kernel panic: "Page Fault While In Kernel Mode". My main test was the usual 'make buildworld'. I became worried about the quality of the

Horrendously slow transfer speeds in FC3 is driving me crazy!!! Please help...
I found that for a modern PC running zero loads, (my server is a P4 3.2 with 512 M dual channel RAM an Intel Etherpro Express 100 nic, serving cached disk files from RAM) samba could be 30% slower than it should be. It would serve data at about 7 MBytes/sec compared with the old NT4 sever (same Intel nic, 512 RAM, P2/266 Cpu, NT4 with SP6a) that would do it at 10 Mbytes/sec under all
