Lohan the observable
Sorry, that name is a misnomer. However, I was excited to find that Ruby
has a built in Observable module and I''m pretty bored, so I apologize in
advance....

attr_reader :is

[Bridge] [RELEASE] ebtables-brnf-3-vs-2.4.22 and ebtables-2-0-6
Hi,
At http://sourceforge.net/projects/ebtables/ you can find the following new
releases:
ebtables-brnf-3-vs-2.4.22
Changes:
- let iptables see VLAN tagged IP traffic
- bugfix for queued packets that get mangled in userspace
- ebt_among module (Grzegorz Borowiak)
- ebt_limit module (Tom Marshall)
The patch compiles but I've done no further tests, but I probably didn't screw
up.

16 KHz clip-off?
Hello,
congratulations to the Ogg Vorbis team - RC2 sounds good.
But... RC2 in 128 kbps mode seems to clip off all frequencys
beyond 16 KHz. On the tracks I tested Beta 4 gave response
even beyond 18 KHz.
Some testings on a randomly chosen track:
(other tracks gave similar results)
Artist: Judas Priest
Album: Jugulator
Title: Bullet Train
Beta4: 127 kbps, ~ 18 KHz (!)
RC2: 132 kbps (!), ~ 16

Hi list,
I am facing the following problem, i need to make the
following scenerio
work
exten => _900.,1,Dial(Zap/g1/xxxxxxxxxx,25,r)
exten => _900.,2,Wait(3)
exten => _900.,3,SendDTMF(${EXTEN:1})
I am using PRI-ISDN with T400P card. Searching through

Samba from Windows XP authenticating against Unix passwd file
Hi all.
I have an existing Samba environment consisting of some Samba 2.x
servers, and Windows NT clients. For some of the Samba servers, the
clients authenticate against the Unix passwd file. Everything works as
desired.
Now, some of the clients are getting upgraded to Windows XP, and they
are no longer able to connect. Searches revealed that there is a
registry hack to disable "sign

HELP! initialise_groups/initgroups input/output error
Hello everyone,
I asked about this problem a few days ago because I am
at a loss as to what is causing it. Below is the
message I posted. I am resending it because I could
really use some help, and because the address I
originally sent it from has been inundated with
message after message containing the Kaspersky virus.
I must say that it is sad that people that send

R Solves Shakespeare Authorship Question
Those of you who track applications of R may be interested in the following:

Asterisk on FreeBSD
My Asterisk (fresh CVS) takes 98% of the system load on my FreeBSD server. On a slower CPU
linux system, Asterisk runs at 0.1% - both without any active channels...
Any ideas, anyone recognizing the problem?

Samba new server in existing domain/sever
Sirs,
I have Linux Samba Server with following "global" smb.conf file.
This server is acting as PDC with CAT domain name. We have window 2000 PC's connect to this server. We had changed some registry for win2000 PC so it can join the domain CAT. I believe that was required.
Now, my question is, can I set up new Linux Samba Serve even though I have one server acting as domain?

How to disable XFree86 and wdm listening ports
Hello,
what is the right way to disable XFree86 and wdm listening

I read in man XFree86 about the -nolisten tcp option
and tried to set in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm
:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X -nolisten tcp
but it was not successful.
What is the right way to close the ports without use of IPFW?
Your help would be appreciated.

If a linux router is need can that run on the * box to

Absolute Minimum Installation Packages
I'm trying to get the total Linux/* installation size as small as possible.
I'm wondering if anyone has looked at the installed packages list from the
Redhat installation [rpm -qa] and has parsed out all packages not needed for
* to run. I follow the custom install guide from Andy Powell but the
installation yields 948+ Meg with 340 installed packages. I'm sure most of
those packages

Fwd: Re: Asterisk on FreeBSD
Your log file almost looks like a bug in Asterisk doesn't it?
Why call poll() with a zero timeout while passing only one FD?
and then why do the read when there is no data?
Read the man pages for all the system calls
Take a look at the source chan_sip.c
/* Wait for sched or io */
res = ast_sched_wait(sched);
if ((res < 0) || (res > 1000))

Listen to a Call
Hi,
Is it possible to listen in on an existing call already, say between the caller and callee? So the 3rd person would listen to the caller and callee on an existing channel without the knowledge of either the existing caller and callee.
Thanks,
