OT Vonage soft phone
In taking a cursory browse at Vonage's site today, I noticed they are now
offering a soft phone. Has anyone had any experience using this? And does
this possibly open new opportunities for using Vonage with Asterisk? Just
thinking outloud on the list, soliciting thoughts and experiences from
others.

New To Asterisk
Hello,
I am new to Asterisk, as of today. Installed on a RH9 box, with no
problems. Built with 'make samples' as to get an understanding of how
things work. Currently, I am utilizing SJPhone as a SIP client - not
interested in shelling out cash for the IP phones, until I know I have a
hold on things. I have run into a few problems I was hoping you could help
me with :

Music on Hold
Does anybody have a good source for hold music? I can see a number of
companies on the web that sell royalty-free MOH, but they don't all provide
samples. The customer service desk has requested "calming, not sleeping,
but calming" and "this is a high-tech company, so make it 'techie' [sic]".
Thanks,

Dealing with progress codes
Hi,
I've ran into an issue with a PRI provider in a major metropolitan area that
I haven't needed to deal with before and I was hoping someone might have
some insight on how to handle this within the Asterisk dialplan.
At this location users can't always tell if a number is long distance or not
(there are a lot of area codes and prefixes in the vicinity). Additionally,
users are

Long distance provider with access number and auth code
I need to be able to dial a long distance provider that uses an access
number and an auth code. I would like to be able to program this so
that the user can dial 8 and then the long distance number, asterisk
will hopefully do everything in the middle.
The sequence to accessing the provider is on my traditional phone speed
dial as:
* Dial local access number
* Wait 5 seconds
* Dial the auth

PRI CallerID problem
Greetings all..
We have an inbound/outbound PRI installed and terminated on a T400P ?
Digium Quad T1 card. We?re seeing an odd problem when sending
$CALLERIDNUM when calls from the PRI are forwarded back out to the PSTN
over the PRI. The $CALLERIDNUM is not being sent out along with the
call. It?s sending the phone number of the PRI itself, rather than the
$CALLERIDNUM information.

Outbound paging dialplan example?
Due to changes at the office, I'm finally getting around to setting up
an AA to deal with incoming calls. One of the big changes is that we're
dropping the old alphanumeric pager and will just send pages to our
phones. I've got the outbound greeting message working in a test
context no problem right now, but I'm kind of stuck on how to capture a
DTMF sequence from a user and

Incoming call stops at random with Teliax
We are setting up asterisk with Teliax and having trouble getting the
incoming call to work all the time, the outgoing does not seem to have a
problem.
I have worked with their support but since they say that we are getting the
initial call to our server they want to charge to take a look.
They did a tcpdump and we are seeing an attempt but no CLI most of the time.
Some times we see this but it

One server, multiple companies
Hello all,
Just starting to setup asterisk v 1.4.11 and need to run three distinct phone systems for three different companies.
So far, I have inbound lines going to the appropriate dial plan within the extensions.conf file. I'm using
exten => _X.,1,NoOp(FROM NUMBER: ${SIP_HEADER(TO):5:10})
to determine which number is being dialed by the caller and then using a gotoif to get to

Call Failed
After so many rings when the party does not answer, my SIP phone says
Call Failed. Why doesn't it just keep ringing?
Here's the dial plan rule:

exten => _NXXXXXXXXX,n,Hangup()

Looking for PRI Outbound Caller ID Configuration
I'm having trouble setting the outbound caller ID on calls I make from my
PRI trunk group. The PRIs are served out of a 5ESS. Telco has set the PRIs
up for user provided caller id information, so I believe I just don't have
it set up right in my dialplan or something. I can't seem to find an
example of setting the outbound caller ID specifically for a 5ESS. Does
anyone have an

Dial Plan Sequencing
I have an interesting dilemma with sequencing in the dialplan. Up to
now, I have assumed that the extensions in the dial plan were tested in
the order that they appear in extensions.conf. In other words, I have
the following fragment which was designed to dial toll free on the PSTN
and all other long distance on VoIP:
[longdistance]

SetCallerID based on extension
I am going through previous posts, but I am not finding anything. I
apologize if this has been covered already.
I want to be able to change the CallerID for outbound calls based on
the extension making the calls. However, I don't really need this
level of granularity. I have one asterisk box serving many markets.
I want to set the CallerID to a local number in each market. So, of

PRI cause codes
I am trying to retrieve the cause code of a outgoing call over a PRI
where the number called is out of service. When an out service number is
called I get a recording that the number dialed is not a working
number. I see cause code 1 in in the CLI as soon as the call is dialed
the Telco recording goes on for 30 sec. then hangs up. Any idea on how
retrieve info that the called number is is

Dialplan
Hi,
What dialplan option do I need to send a call out like this:
NPA-NXX-xxxx local calls
1-NPA-NXX-xxxx - long distance
Won't 'national' send it out NPA-NXX-xxxx no matter if it's long
distance or not?

Dialout handler with/without leading 1
If this handles the case where 10 digits are required:
exten => _9NXXXXXXXXX,1,StripMSD,1
exten => _NXXXXXXXXX,2,Dial,Zap/4/BYEXTENSION
How do you create a handler which works for either this or
the case with a leading '1' plus 10 digits?
tnx
