Bandwidth measurement tool: bmtools
This is not specifically on-topic for Asterisk, but I have found on many occasions while working with Asterisk that it would have been very handy to be able to measure, with some precision, the bandwidth being used by a particular host, port, or combination of the two. So, I went searching for various tools, none of which were what I wanted. They either were too clever, or too limited in

patch to add a menu item in Rgui for RSiteSearch
Please consider adding the following to the next R release (I understand that it's too late for R-2.1.0). It adds the menu item `Search R Site' in the `Help' menu in Rgui (which calls RSiteSearch() on the input string). call "load balancing"
Hello All, Wondering what sort of real world mileage people are getting out of different internet connecions - i.e. different DSL connection speeds, cable modems, etc... Is it reasonable to hope to carry 10 - 15 concurrent calls on a 768K DSL? I'm not talking about theoretical BW or looking for any difinitive absolute guarantee... With DSL and Cable - there is no guarantee, so I'm

iax2 trunk
Im having problems setting up a trunk between two locations. Heres the setup I have: Server A is connected to the PSTN at my datacenter Server B is connected to a clients e1 line at his datacenter I only want to route calls from Server B to Server A and out through the PSTN. Server A has a lot of other things connecting to it, so I need a very specific context for all calls to go through.

IAX2 trunking: codec bandwidth comparison notes and results
2003-06-28 Bandwidth Study - John Todd (jtodd @loligo.com) Purpose: ------------- To obtain a better chart of actual bandwidth usage per codec as seen "on-the-wire" when using IAX2 trunking between two Asterisk telephony servers. Discussion: ------------- Past threads on the asterisk-dev and asterisk-users lists have indicated that the optimal way to save bandwidth on

iax2 trunk registration with auth rsa
hi all, I am trunking via iax2 2 asterisk serverses if both of them have static ip addresses, I can connect them using no password, password or auth rsa with a pair of keys. If one of them has dynamic ip address and need to register on the other server, I can connect them with no password, but I am not able to do that using keys. The question is: which is the right register syntax to use when

Advice for calling a C function
Hi, I'm having some trouble with a bit of combined C & R code. I'm trying to write a C function to handle the for loops in a function I'm working on to calculate a similarity matrix. Jari Oksanen has kindly added the necessary changes to the vegan package so that I can use the vegdist function, so this isn't absolutely necessary. However, I'm stubborn and want to know

ssh-agent decrypt
moronic monday (pst) question time. this may have been covered elsewhere, and emphatically shot down (and if so, I apologize), but I'm interested in using ssh-agent to decrypt data. ssh certificates are the most secure user auth token we have, and even though ssh certs aren't chainable, we routinely use them to assert identity to things other than ssh (eg. if you can present a cert

Choosing an ISP for Asterisk
I am the IT Manager for an international company who preserves its competitive edge by cutting costs. We are moving to a new office in about two months, and naturally, Asterisk came to mind as a way to implement a VoIP setup at low cost. My expertise is computers, not telephones, so all of this is new to me. I need to know what the ideal setup for an Asterisk set up is. My idea is to have our
