Nortel Phones.
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone is using the Nortel 2001 2002 or 2004 phones on
their asterisk implementation. My local dealer says they are not
compatible with any open source implementations. Is there a phone
compatibility list somewhere?
Cheers

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang,
I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to
Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of
concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to
re-purchase and have "orphans" around.
We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great.
I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I

Security Hell
I have been trying to setup two samba servers on Fedora Core 2 for the past 30 hours and am about to jump out a window.
I'm simply trying to create a few shares that multiple WinXP clients can have readonly access to and a select few have write privilages. Also, a few shares that are are private for a select few users with write privilages. In all cases, anybody should be able to browse the

integration with Meridian/Norstar ATA2
I'm attempting to use an asterisk box with a Digium TDM01B as voicemail
for an existing Meridian/Norstar PBX with an ATA-2 adapter. We're
having problems where hangup is not always (but sometimes) detected.
It's not detected probably 70% of the time or more. (The users transfer
callers to an extension--caller then has to navigate a menu to get to
the appropriate user).

Billing Telephone Number (BTN)
I have Asterisk setup with two PRI's one going to my telco and the
other going to a Norstar Meridian system. The Norstar Meridian is
sending a BTN number that needs to be passed to the Telco. Is there a
way to pass the BTN as a variable in the dial plan? Like
CallerID(num)? What is the variable for BTN if so?
Many Thanks.

Nortel M Series phones support
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I've searched the mailing list quite extensively, but didn't come up
with anything promising (some things wer helpful, though). Does anyone
know if Nortel M Series (specifically the 2008, 2616, 7208, and 7310)
phones can be made to work with the TDM400P card or if they are ADSI
compatible at all? I kind of doubt they will work if they are

asterisk and norstar
Hi there!
We have an old legacy norstar phone system m8x24-ds ( dr5 ) and a couple of
m0x16. It has 5 external analog lines. It has no auto attendant, and no
voicemail. So every incoming call is forwarded to a operator, she pick up
the phone, talks to the caller and transfer the call to the right extension.
We are in Argentina, so buying a star talk is out of the question, there is
no selling of

Asterisk and Norstar MICS
To All;
My current issues is a 5 second delay for call that is being transferred
from the Norstar units to
the Asterisk servers VIA a PRI. Is their anything that can be done to
speed up the transfer on the Norstar. Below is my current phone
config.
< Norstar1 >----PRI----< Asterisk-1 >----IP-WAN----< Asterisk-2
>---PRI---< Norstar2>
The Norstars are MICS 0x32 4.1

Status of Q.SIG on Asterisk?
The last post I saw regarding this was June 2003 (before my time with *, I
started in September):
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-June/013324.html
Is there any support for Q.SIG in * at all? The Norstar MICS uses a MCDN
(Meridian Customer Defined Network) key to enable the "SL1" protocol which
from everything I've been reading is just Q.SIG. This protocol

PRI dropped calls w/ asterisk dropped between pstn & norstar
Hi,
I dropped an asterisk server with a TE405P between a Norstar Meridian
PBX and it's PRI PSTN connection. Everything seemed to work fine
using a pass-thru-type dialplan configuration... except now we've
realised that outbound calls to celphones get dropped upon connect,
but not on every call (almost always the first try, but not the
second). All other calls to non-celphones had no

Building from scratch, would like the benefit of everyone's experience
Hi all,
I am going to be building an Asterisk system to replace the current
aging (aged) Nortel Meridian system in a travel agency. There is
already a voice T-1 in place and currently there are about 20 extensions
in use. I would want to move up to about 25 extensions immediately and
about 30-35 within the year.
I am going to want IVR and voicemail, plus the ability to ring a group

Norstar ATA2 signalling protocol?
Does anyone know which signalling protocol works when connecting the
output of a NT8B90AL Norstar ATA2 analog terminal adapter to an FXO
card? (fxsks, fxsgs, fxsls?)
I'm trying to add an Asterisk branch to my Norstar PBX as outlined at

Norstar Integration with Asterisk via FXO or BRI ISDN
Hi,
I have a legacy Norstar system that I'm looking into integrating with my
Asterisk setup.
My first attempts have worked, which involves a Wildcard X100P FXO card in
the * box connected to the Internal ATA (FXS port) on the Norstar system.
Calling from SIP -> Norstar works fine, since the SIP caller initiated the
call and generally will be sane enough to hangup the phone when

use of Asterisk and T100P as Nortel DSX-1?
Hi all,
I've seen a couple of posts recently from people who are doing
something with Asterisk and a T100P and a Nortel PBX. However it's
not clear exactly what they are doing.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a T100P or T400P as a DSX-1
interface to connect to a T1/PRI CO module in a Nortel PBX? We have
a Nortel Norstar Modular ICS PBX and I'd like to plug its CO

OT: Headset for Cisco 7960?
Sorry, I know it's OT, but does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive
headset that is compatible with the Cisco 7960?
I've tried the headset off Norstar phones, doesn't seem to work with or
without the amp.

Nortel SL1 protocol and *?
I have been investigating more tight integration between * and the Nortel
MICS... it appears that it is at least theoretically possible to have *
store voicemail and log which stations call where.
Both require a T1 card. The T1 card requires either a clocking module or the
6-port fiber module to provide T1 timing. Naturally a T100P or TE405P is
required on the * side.
To log which
