My Grandstream works, but my X-Lite doesn't:no sound after 5sec
This is troubling. Shouldn't your hubs/routers autosense the 10MBPS? ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: WipeOut <wipe_out@lycos.co.uk> Reply-To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Date: Wed, 15 Oct 2003 07:53:13 +0100 >Steven J. An interesting call path observation..
This is not really a problem just something I noticed in my testing.. When two or more Asterisk servers are connected by IAX2 trunks it does not make use of any "shortest path" type system.. (maybe this is still planned somwhere down the line, but may come in handy to those who have multi asterisk installations) Here is the setup.. UA1--- Asterisk1----[IAX2 Trunk]---Asterisk2---UA2

How to park and pickup a call
Hi All, How to park and pickup a call? The scenario of park and pickup described as below. UserA made a call to UserB, and the call ware connected, Then UserB parked (or hold) the call, and told UserC to pickup the call on one line, and then, UserC pressed some keys to pickup the call. Who can tell me what's the Park/Pickup's typical flow in the Asterisk. And how to set the sip.conf,

Firewalling, Ports and rtp.conf..
Hi, Am I correct in this.. I want to setup IPTABLES to protect my * box.. The default rtp.conf defines that * will use ports 10000 to 20000.. IAX listens on 5036.. SIP listens on 5060.. I am assuming all ports used by * are UDP.. So I am planning on setting my server to block all inbound traffic except UDP ports 5060, 5036 and 10000-20000.. Am I leaving anything out?? Thanks.. --

IPtraf not looking right on the console..
I have a CentOS 4 server at home where we store all our data, I wanted to get some idea of the amount of traffic going into and out of the server by protocol so I installed IPtraf.. When I run it from an ssh session it looks fine but when I run it directly on the server console its doesn't look right at all.. It doesn't seem to layout correctly.. Is there something I need to do

3.3v PCI board - TE410P photo
Hi- I have posted a photo of the TE410P Digium card on my site, so that those wishing to purchase a compatible motherboard can see physically what the PCI slot requirement is: http://www.evtmedia.com/TE410P.htm I believe the required slot is a 64-bit, 3.3 Volt PCI, most commonly found on Xeon-based motherboards. A 64-bit slot is longer than the TE410P board requires, but the PCI connector

RTP session traversing Asterisk server ...
I've been reading up on the SIP and related (SDP/RTP) RFC's and as I would expect the RTP session should ideally be between the two end points of the call, in my case the AS5300 and the 7940 which are connected on the same VLAN as the Asterisk server. When I sniff the packets on the VLAN I find that all RTP packets are being relayed by the Asterisk server causing increased load on the

OT: Multiple SIP phones behind NAT gateway?
Hi, I know this is slightly off topic but I figured the knowlege here is probably the best on the subject.. I want to setup remote offices with 4 to 6 SIP phones (SNOM 200) using ADSL and the internet to connect to the Asterisk box.. These phone will be behind an ADSL router using NAT... I don't want to setup another Asterisk system in each office so IAX is not an option.. I could use

Quick Question
Apologies if there is a cleanly written and searchable FAQ that I could be directed to. I have no problem to RTFM if I can find the FM... Does Asterisk currently operate under RH9? I have IBM Netfinity 4000R servers that do not support X windows under RH8.x and I prefer not to go back to RH7.3... BTW, where would I find a useful FM? David -- David J. Sussman, MBA email:

Am I missing somthing?
Should the following setup work? SIP UA---NAT---Internet---NAT---SIP UA If both UA's support STUN and report the external IP address in the SIP packet.. I am trying to get away from using canreinvite=no so that traffic can go directly between the UA's and not via the central server but I can't seem to get it to work.. Has anyone set this up and can give me some pointers??

Traffic Priority by IP address..
Hi, I have a PC that acts as a VoIP gateway using an internet telephony provider to make phone calls.. Data between me and the provider will always be from one IP address on my internal network to the provider.. I have a 1Mbps/256Kbps ADSL line and the voice stream is highly compressed requireing only 30Kbps of bandwidth.. The problem is that when my Mozilla Mail client polls for mail or

4 or 5 for VMware server?
I am soon going to be setting up a box to run VMware server but have to make the choice between Centos 4.x or 5.x.. I have tested both and VMware installs in both.. So are there any pros or cons to either version or does it make no difference at all? TIA
