ip phones and intercom/paging
There was a thread a few months ago that tossed around some ideas for
using a cisco phone for intercom or paging. I don't have any ip
phones, and wondered if anyone had any luck getting intercom or paging
to work on the cisco units.
Do any of the (cheaper) ip phones have a way to support intercom or
paging?
I presume that it's not part of the SIP or IAX protocols.

dimnames in pkg "ipred"
Hello List,
I`m trying to make prediction using a bagged tree with the package ipred. I tried to follow the manual but I`m getting an error message. Also browsing through the list-archive I didn`t find any hint.
Maybe someone can help me?

problem with predict(mboost,...)
Hi,
I use a mboost model to predict my dependent variable on new data. I get the following warning message:
In bs(mf[[i]], knots = args$knots[[i]]$knots, degree = args$degree, :
some 'x' values beyond boundary knots may cause ill-conditioned bases
The new predicted values are partly negative although the variable in the training data ranges from 3 to 8 on a numeric scale. In order to

Barplots and error indicators: Some R-Code
I' ve seen that several people are looking for a function that creates a
barplot with an error indicators (I was one of them myself). Maybe you will
find the following code helpful (There are some examples how to use it at
the end):
# Creates a barplot.
#bar.plot() needs a datavector for the height of bars and a error
#indicator for the interval
#many of the usual R parameters can be set:

Question about the RWEKA package
Dear List,
I´m trying to implement the functionalities from WEKA into my modeling project in R through the RWeka package.
In this context I have a slightly special question about the filters implemented in WEKA.
I want to convert nominal attributes with k values into k binary attributes through the NominalToBinary filter ("weka.filters.supervised.attribute.NominalToBinary"). But

problems with extractPrediction in package caret
Hi list,
I´m working on a predictive modeling task using the caret package.
I found the best model parameters using the train() and trainControl() command. Now I want to evaluate my model and make predictions on a test dataset. I tried to follow the instructions in the manual and the vignettes but unfortunately I´m getting an error message I can`t figure out.
Here is my code:

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc-4.2 RELEASE_26 bootstrap failure on Solaris/SPARC - unhandled REAL_TYPE during compilation of '__powitf2'
Hi all,
I'm currently trying to bootstrap llvm-gcc-4.2 from the latest stable LLVM release 2.6
on Solaris SPARC.
The compilation with a self-build gcc-4.2.4 goes pretty well, however, I hit
a seemingly widely know error during llvm-gcc's bootstrap in getting
an assertion during the compile of /data/LLVM/src/GCC/RELEASE_26/gcc/libgcc2.c:

[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc-4.2 RELEASE_26 bootstrap failure on Solaris/SPARC - unhandled REAL_TYPE during compilation of '__powitf2'
Hi Anton,
thanks for the fast response.
Ty->dump() prints "{double, double}" in the failing case (just before my
introduced assert).
HTH, and regards,

Poor man''s backup by attaching/detaching mirror drives on a _striped_ pool?
Hi,
one quick&dirty way of backing up a pool that is a mirror of two devices is to
zpool attach a third one, wait for the resilvering to finish, then zpool detach
it again.
The third device then can be used as a poor man''s simple backup.
Has anybody tried it yet with a striped mirror? What if the pool is
composed out of two mirrors? Can I attach devices to both mirrors, let them

R GUI ???
Hello !
I am really happy to find this list. I am not new to R but to Debian or
Linux in general. Up to now I used R on MS Windows but now I want to use
R on Debian lenny. I have absolutely no experience with Debian.
I was able to install R 2.11 on my system using the instruction in the
readme on CRAN. I can open R in the shell.
On windows I used R with the R GUI or with Tinn-R. Is there the

Any way to get out of a remote console without stopping *

of a remote console after using ssh to get into the box, making changes,
reload etc. without stopping *?
Thanks in advance.

Marketing Digium/Asterisk
The benefits of * are obvious so that part of the marketing an * solution
is easy. Anybody care to share ideas on how to target companies who would
benefit most from */Digium? It seems to me that it would be an easy sell to
small/medium companies who need advanced features such as ip trunking, IVR,
Conference bridging, etc., etc.
I would like to find a way to identify multi-location companies

The BEST? analog phones for *
Googling the archives there is some debate about what
are good analog phones to use with *. Aastra seems
popular, but they are somewhat pricey and the
proprietary seems like it can be a headache. Can
someone weigh in on what would be good analog phones
for a small office (8 lines and 20 phones) to use with

ZFS with Memory Sticks
OK, I''ve been putting off this question for a while now, but it eating

I''ve formated with the ZFS file system. Works great on all my Solaris
PC''s, but refuses to work on my Sparc processor. So I''ve formated it on
my Sparc machine (Blade 2500), works great there now, but not on

Offering an Asterisk Documentation and FAQ Portal
Hi,
I have resources available to host a portal specifically for the Asterisk system, to help correlate documentation, FAQ's and How To
I am new to Asterisk, and my hardest work is in locating information on using or configuring the software.
Would Mark, John or any of you feel this would be of benefit to host?
I am offering a PHP-NUKE portal for this, (Unless you know of a better

Conference calls on Pingtel Phones
Has anyone been able to get conference calls to work on the Pingtel Phones?
I assume this feature works with their implementation, but connected to my
asterisk box it doesn't work. The Pingtel phone thinks it is making a
second call, but asterisk never sees anything about a second call. Any help
would be appreciated.

it last time, and I need to do a fresh install. I'd sure appreciate it :)

Please let me know if you have any ideas - I am taking wild guesses now....
Here is the situation:

Voice & 12 Data. I have a T100P hooked up to a TDM Card (they call it a
chanel bank although it only has 2 outputs) in a CAC unit. The unit also
has a router card that runs the data side. My extensions are all SIP

gbm for multi-class problems
Dear List,
I´m working on a classification problem. My response has 60 levels.
I`m very interested in boosted trees like AdaBoost or gradient boosting machine as implemented in the package "gbm". Unfortunately gbm is only applicable for 2-class problems.
Is anybody out there who can help me? Is there a way to use gbm() for multi-class problems? Maybe there is a way to transform my
