I have been using the default gsm codec and wanted to see if I could make use of something a little less bandwidth intensive. It's a HTB based shaper configuration wich have some very good features, I use a variation of that here at my College. http://lartc.org/wondershaper/ It is the page (a simple google search). FYI, Follow the Quick Start Guide from Carrier Access to setup the CMG (Customer Media Gateway) Router card. Follow the Asterisk mgcp.conf wiki page setup. The only issue I had was with the CAC CMG card, it defaults to strict policy message exchange and dial-tone will not come across when you go off-hook on a FXS port. To resolve this, get back into the CAC CMG configuration, goto: -profile

I am a little confused about the FXO ports on the Carrier Accesss Bank 1. The wiki, and people on the mailing list have stated that they do not have impedance matching, but Carrier Access states in their documentation that they do have impednace matching. Did Carrier Access make a typo, or does it depend on the version of the FXO card? I current have a CAC AB1, and I am having echo problems

I noticed that there is a soft button for transfer when you initiate a call. I pressed it, and it actually put the call on hold, although I was able to call another extension. Is that soft button functional? And if so, how do you make use of it? And if not, how does one transfer a call? Kim C. Is it just me or do others have a problem with the ATA-186 de-registering? Every couple of hours, if I don't make use of the ATA connected line, I find that I have to unplug and let the ATA reboot. After that it is good to go for awhile, but eventually I have to repeat the process. My ATA sits behind a NATd firewall, any ideas what might cause the de-registration? Kim C. Callis

Hello, I have a CAC Channel Bank I with FXS cards. I've the system up and running, with just 1 issue. When I make an inbound call, Asterisk says "Zap/26 is ringing", however, the phone never rings. No lights are lit on the CAC during the calll. Outbound call works no problem, and the CAC lights up correctly. Any ideas what could be the problem? -- Richard Cook

I am wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to turn down the volume on all the dial tones, indications, etc.. and especially the call-waiting CHIRP! I don't want to change the txgain and rxgain because they are working at levels that I would like. However, when voice conversations and voicemail recordings are at good levels then the dial tones, busy tones, etc are way too loud.
