160 analogue phones..
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to connect 160 analogue phones to an asterisk PBX? Background information: A client wishes to replace their current PBX with a new VoIP system. Currently they have 2 PRIs. I intent to set up 2 asterisk PBXs with Debian GNU/Linux on raided drives. These drives will be mounted only read-only to recover gracefully from power-cycles. I am considering 2

Digium Hardware Question from Newbie
Hello folks, I'm very interested in the Digium/Asterisk combination but need some clarification. I would like to setup a SOHO for business and home use. Scenario One: I have one analog line, 4 analog telephones. Do I need a TDM400P + 4 FXS modules (Green) + X100P? Scenario Two: 2 analog lines, 1 selective ring number for fax, 8 analog phones. Is this what I need? 2 TDM400Ps and 8 FXS

Linking asterisk to an existing small office PBX
Hi All I've done some reading on the wiki and read some of the mailing list archives, but can't see anything on this. I guess this means I'm either searching on the wrong thing, or have totally the wrong idea... Can anyone suggest if the following is possible? Currently, our office has a 24 analogue extension PBX, and 2 ISDN lines providing it with external connectivity. We have

ISDN phones & Asterisk, ASDI and then some
Hello all, New to the list, Asterisk and this wonderful world of convergence. From reading the docs, list and websites I hopefully correctly understand that I can use a plain cheap isdn4linux supported ISDN (passive) TA to hook up the PC to the ISDN line from the telco (FXO card?). Next in the PC I also need a FXS card like a Digium TDM10B or PhoneJack so I can hook up an analog phone to it. In

SIP and ECHO
Hello, I have read the information on echo and SIP in the FAQ and I have scoured the mailing list for possible solutions, but as yet I have not been able to get rid of this echo. I have a Sip phone, Digium 4 Port FXS, and 3 Digium FXO cards installed into an asterisk server. If I call between the Sip Phone (Budgettone-100) and the 4 FXS ports everything sounds great. If I call out to the PSTN

Newby question. Basic structure
Hi all. I've being reading posts from the list since yesterday and I feel this question was answered a lot time ago, but the list archives are a mess (yet). I hope some one is willing to help me out. I want to set up this: caller ----- PSTN ---- (SOMETHING1) ------ VoIP --------- (SOMETHING2) ---- PSTN I think this must be a very basic architecture, but I'm not sure wat SOMETHING1

Interface analogue exchange line to VOIP phone?
I have a potential customer who has an existing PBX with analogue FXS ports connected to phones. He wants to allow a single remote worker to be connected to one of the analogue extension ports using VOIP. I know I could do it using Asterisk with an X100P card, but that seems a bit overkill. Does anyone know of an analogue->VOIP adapter that has an FXO port in it instead of just an FXS port?

Reverse-ATA : Using PSTN lines to connect to Asterisk
Hi, I'm looking for a few pointers on using ATA to connect Asterisk to the PSTN. Basically, I'm running a Hosted PBX service, and in urban centers I can usually get SIP or PRIs. Since I sell my customers SIP hardphones, the data flow is like this: Customer's SIP Hardphone ---- My own Asterisk ----- Outside lines But when it comes to smaller villages (I deal with people in tiny

1000 analogue lines with asterisk
+1 spending money to get that many fxs ports is going to negate any savings of reusing analog phones instead of buying ip phones 1000 analog ports sounds like hell and if it was me I would be embarrassed to have a setup like that tied to my name if I was a consultant etc. Someone will come in after you and ask who set it up and the customer will say you :) On Feb 17, 2016 4:23 AM, "A J

FW: No dial tone after installation
Oh geez nobody respond, I guess I have to be more descriptive. I'm install Asterisk and FXO FXS Lite dev kit from Digium everything has installed and I am getting an error message that my sound card is not enabled. I'm using a Dell Optix (whatever). Everything seems to be in order. I connect an analogue telephone to the FXO port? and try to dial. Dial tones work however not dial tone.

Minimum budget question ...
I've tried to figure out from the web site the minimum hardware cost to run a small office Asterix solution but I'm afraid I miss something: Let's say that I want to connect four/five analogic extension to the PBX. I have: - 1 computer as the server (with linux and Asterisk on it) - 1 dummy patch panel to connect all the analogic phones around the office What (and how many) cards

TDM31B and Zaptel: FXO port not recognized?
I have a brand-spanking new TDM31B (3 FXS, 1 FXO) and when I start wcfxs (the only module that recognizes the card) from Zaptel 0.9.1 I get: Zapata Telephony Interface Registered on major 196 Freshmaker version: 63 Freshmaker passed register test Module 0: Installed -- AUTO FXS Module 1: Installed -- AUTO FXS Module 2: Installed -- AUTO FXS

Outline For Asterisk Book - Please Review & Comment
Asterisk Users In an attempt to help Asterisk move forward, a number of us have decided to create a book. It would initially be released as an "ebook" that could be sent to newbies to help them up the rather steep learning curve. Ultimately I would like to see it published and sold in bookstores (preferably by O'Reilly & Co.). Below is the outline for the book. We REALLY

Any 24 (or 30) way FXS PCI cards?
It seems to me silly to have a T1/E1 card to connect to a channel bank when you could just have a 24/30 way FXS card in the slot in the first place. Does such a thing exist? Wouldn't Digium have a lot of customers if they could produce one for say < $1000 retail?

Reducing echo on FXS port
Hello everybody, I am sorry to bring this up again if this kind of echo issue has ever discussed. Phone2 in below call path experiences quite annoying echo: Phone1 --> FXS (TDM400P) --> Asterisk --> SIP GW --> PSTN --> Phone2 It is annoying as on phone2, we can hear the whole words we say with the level of maybe 25% of the original sound. I can reduce the echo to maximum with

FXS to SIP gateway
Hello list ! I don't have the money to test out all the products and reading the manuals is not always that enlightening... Does someone here know a good gateway-product that lets analogue telephones communicate with an Asterisk-server. I have found the Grandstream GXW-400x to be able to add SIP-accounts to analogue telephone devices that are connected to the FXS-ports. Moreover this

Channel bank replacement
Hello, I am working for a charity in the UK and I am projecting a new phone system. We would like to connect our two-wire telephones (40 or so) to an ADIT 600 channel bank, and connect that into an Asterisk box via the CMG card or T1 card. I have been in talks with Carrier Access about the purchase of a new channel bank and we tried to get a minor version of it first for testing with the

'Traditional' Faxing
Hi all, the company I work for has an aging Digital PBX attached to an E1. This PBX has a few analogue lines, one of which we use a 'traditional' fax machine on. I want to upgrade our PBX and Asterisk is almost a perfect fit. The only problem I can't seem to find a working solution for is Faxing. I don't want to use Hylafax or other similar methodologies. I believe there

10 FXS - Channel Bank or PCI Card?
Hi All, What do you recommend? I was looking at: http://www.voipon.co.uk/sangoma-a200-fxo-fxs-analogue-card-pci-express-p-393.html But it will be 3 PCI slots. Thanks, Gavin.

The Minimum Cost of Setting up an Asterisk Phone System?
Everyone-- Here's a cost analysis, rather crude and inspecific, of using Asterisk to implement a phone system. I'm really quite naive and new to all this, so I'd appreciate any corrections, tips, pointers, etc, from those in the community, who have far greater experience, knowledge, skill, etc. than I. Am I forgetting something important? Am I way off in my estimates? The Minimum
