SIP / IAX over satellite
Hi all,
------
I tried to use * over satellite, but all my effort did not succeed.
The Asterisk is behind the VSAT and is resposibel for alle the SIP
clients in a field location.
The clients are notebooks and PDA's running SJPhoen for Windows and
PocketPC. Unfortunately
I could not find any Linux Client wich worked satisfying. SJ LAbs
promised a Linux Version at the end of
August but they

Satellite Providers
Hi All,
I am investigating the deployment of VoIP/* in Eastern European areas where
there is no PSTN infrastructure. As you can understand DSL/Cable connections
are a dream. The only option is satellite.
Does anyone know of any satellite providers that have low enough/acceptable
delays for VoIP?
Thanks,
Yiannis.

Tinc via satellite link stalls often
Guus,
Below a segment of a log file. I am trying to analyse why the satellite link goes down and up all the time (sometimes 10 to 15 times an hour, sometimes not for a day.
My guess is that this indicates packet loss on the satelllite link and tinc not really recovering from that. Where I inserted an empty line the log basically stopped and was silent for I guess for 14 minutes? Would setting

tinc for Satellite connections (benchmarking)
Hello.
I'm living in the country side where the communications are very very
poor. My only choice is Satellite connection throw the French company
Eurona which uses the network deployed by Skylogicnet.
In general the latency is very bad (~800ms) and the network is very
unstable. I have been investigating in the ISP routers which are in my
path and there are many hops which are done in a

use of Asterisk and T100P as Nortel DSX-1?
Hi all,
I've seen a couple of posts recently from people who are doing
something with Asterisk and a T100P and a Nortel PBX. However it's
not clear exactly what they are doing.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a T100P or T400P as a DSX-1
interface to connect to a T1/PRI CO module in a Nortel PBX? We have
a Nortel Norstar Modular ICS PBX and I'd like to plug its CO

audio streaming server
Hello...
I'm involved in a project whereby a live audio input from the FM radio
station is to be sent to an audio streaming server, which will stream
the audio to the remote sites thru the VSAT (satellite based) network.
The remote sites are to rebroadcast the transmissions (FM station
rebroadcast), as most of the expected listeners do not have access to the
internet.

two routes, non-permanent higher proiority
Hi LARTC experts,
Can you help me with this scenario? I have been
lurking on this list for a while, but I am very green
wrt advanced routing.
I have a slackware linux based server in a vehicle with
a high bandwidth satellite connection which is only
available while the vehicle is stationary.
This satellite connection comes in via eth0. But while
the vehicle is moving or stationary, we can

IAX calls drop suddenly?
Hi,
I've got asterisk working as a PSTN gateway between two sites. The
IP connection is pretty good and bandwidth exceeds 640Kbps all the
time. I'm using X100P hardware on 300Mhz and 333MHz systems. One of
them has a sound card, but the slower system does not have a sound
card. Both are connected to PBXes and I have busydetect=yes on one
end because the PBX doesn't drop the

minimum system hardware for Asterisk install
Looking at installing Asterisk and have not been able to find any info on
"minimum" or "recommend" system hardware.
I have a box P200MMX 128mb 4.5gb HDD which is running Redhat 8.0 fine.
Noticing on the Digium web site it mentions that the single fxo card
(Wildcard X100P) requires a minimum pIII 500.
Is my intended box going to be too slow?
My application is a small level,

ARP resolution not done from one end
Folks,
We have a setup where each mobile node connects with 1 or more tinc instances (over different links) to a central node. tinc is running in switch mode. The link is chosen by setting the IP address on the active link's interface, and the central node sees this after the first packet on the link, and moves the MAC address to a different 'ethernet port' (link). This works really

IAX2 trunk mode over satellite
Today has been the day for satellite questions, apparently, so I'll
proxy one out to the rest of the community... I asked this
tangentially a month or two ago, but I'll put it in a more blunt way:
If you have IAX2 trunking mode experience over satellite, please let
us know your experiences with that protocol/transport combination.
I've got several people asking about IAX2 and

VoIP over satellite internet
Could those on the list who have used or tried to use VoIP over a
satellite internet connection comment on how well it works or if it
even works at all in a reliable way. What is the effect of latency on
the VoIP path and how much is generally tolerable? routing via
satellite adds about a quarter second of latency to the path. Is that
too much?

Asterisk with iax2 over satellite
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of setting up an Asterisk server over a satellite
connection to allow people on a remote island to place and receive calls
over the pstn.
What are the ideal settings I should use in iax.conf for the optimal
operation over satellite besides the normal options for the type=friend
peer?
Does anyone have this working? I an place calls as things are now, but there

Satellite 6
Hi Everyone,
Since Satellite 6 is an amalgam of other F/OSS projects and is no longer
solely based on Spacewalk, is a new upstream project for Satellite 6
going to be created? BEtter yet, is a new upstream project already
available?
