Nortel digital FXO channel bank? Exists?
We have a client with a Nortel PBX with digital phone sets. Due to T1
problems (old firmware), we are interested in trying a FXO channel bank.
Is there a channel bank (or equivalent) which emulates Meridian digital
phone sets? In order words, an FXO channel bank that's Meridian digital?
Thanks

SIP configuration question
First question: Do you need to use a special phone to use SIP? My setup is
X100P and TDM10B (I have 2 computers with the same setup), will I be able to
use SIP?
I already have the two computers calling each other using IAX, but I would
like to see if I can get them to work using SIP.
My current setup:
On computer 192.168.10.50
**sip.conf***

port=5060
bindaddr=0.0.0.0

door phone
Hi,
Anyone know anything about Asterisk's support for door phones? Receiving
the call from the door intercom system, opening the door, etc?
Any hardware recommendations? I understand that the equipment we have
now is Panasonic proprietary and came with the currently deployed
Panasonic TD12-32 pbx.
We intend to deploy Asterisk in a 72 extensions + 16 trunks in a while,
so any info will be

Modem
Hello list,
Why PC modems were not used as FXO devices? Why chan_modem was deprecated?
it seemed a nicer option instead of buying expensive gateways.

FXO ATA?
Is the Sipura 3000 the only way to interface a remote pstn line and connect
incoming calls to Asterisk? I have a location connected by network that has
a phone line, when the room is occupied I want the line ti ring there as
normal, but when the employee is travelling I want the line to be conencted
to a ATA that then feeds it as an incoming pstn line to the pbx located at
my office so it can

Phantom Rings
I'm having a major problem at one of my branch offices with "Phantom
Rings" on their asterisk-based phone system. The system was originally
built using 2 X100P cards and was recently upgraded to a Rhino R4FXO-EC
card. The upgrade severely increased the frequency of the phantom
rings. I've read everything I can find on-line about automatic testing
and noise on the line and

line battery check
I know in the x100p hardware the driver can sense whether there is battery
voltage on the line or not. Is this possible in the zap drivers using t1/e1
interfaces ?
I believe the signalling bits are only ring and hook, not loop presence, so
not sure if it is possible.
I had a situation last night where a main cable was cut in the area and
lines were down overnight. My burglar alarm knew right

Weird..bridging to Zap channel FXS instead of bridging to PSTN FXO on outgoing group
Hi All,
Channels 25-28 on a customers PBX are regular Zaptel FXO cards that
are hooked into 4 incomming phone lines. They are all in a group to do
automatic rollover for outgoing calls (if channel 25 is being used,
dial on channel 26, etc.).
Sometimes when a user is dialing a number, instead of bridging to one
of the FXO cards it goes and rings to Zap/1-1.
This doesnt occur all the time but some

TDM400 FXO stops handling outgoing calls, but still accepts incoming?
I have a bit of a weird problem that I'm having great trouble debugging.
I have a TDM400P PCI card with two FXO and two FXS modules. Both FXO modules
are connected to BT lines here in the UK. Both BT lines have V23 Caller-ID,
which works fine with Asterisk. Both asterisk and zaptel are fresh from CVS.
Both FXO modules (channels 3 and 4) are in "group 1" for outgoing calls.

FXO Cards vs. Channel bank with T1
Is there any advantage of getting a T1 card with a channel bank over 2-3 FXO cards ?
Thanks.

fxo connection in the UK
Thank you very much for this hint. My apologies that I messed up a thread for my post - I had a
message open and simply clicked on the link ... slap slap.
Would anyone know of a better choice to multiplex three fxo lines into an asterisk box? I can still
use three Digium X100P cards, but methinks, a seperate unit would be better.
Thanks again,
Peter

Solution for 12 to 16 FXO to asterisk connection
Hi, today a customer asked how to use asterisk with 12 to 16 FXO
ports. I can use a channel bank with 16 FXO ports and connect the
channel bank with a T1 cable to a T1 card in the Asterisk Server.
Asterisk will then send the calls to the Voip provider over the
internet.
However a 16 fxo port channel bank is about USD 1500 + a t1 card USD
500 + a USD 1000 computer = 3 thousand us dollars + my

12 FXO ports into Asterisk
I have a client that has 10 POTS lines incoming. There is no other
option for lines here.
I have 3 options I can see:
1. 3 TDM400 cards
2. An external SIP/FXO gateway
3. A T1 card plus a channel bank.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these 3 or suggestions on keeping the
cost down?

Zap callgroup/pickupgroup question
I'm trying to set up asterisk so any phone connected to channel 1-16 of my
Adit600 channel bank can pick up a call coming in on channel 24. I do not
wish to ring any of the 16 channels on an incoming call -- this is strictly
so I can pick up the line if I see it ringing and wish to answer at work.
I have channel 24 in call group 3, and channels 1-16 in pickup groups 1 and 3.
However

was FXO cards
Hey guys,
appreciate the input. Here are some thoughts.
ADSI phones are out of the question. This is a business environment, I
can't worry about my employees not knowing how to forward calls, answer
calls when away from the multiline phone, and no ADSI phone will handle
multiple lines that I have found.
I would love to put 6 X100P cards in a case and run asterisk on it.

Live CD - do you think they are worth doing?
Hi,
Curious, do many of you check out software or projects when they have
a live CD or does that make any difference to you? Does anyone know if
the general public (not reading this kind of list) is attracted to a
Live CD more than an Install one?
thx,

Best config for 12 FXO system?
I have a client who wants a Meetme box with 12 FXO ports, to connect
to Analogue lines coming from an Ericsson PBX.
It looks like I could do this with four different hardware configurations:
a) three TDM04B cards (based on TDM400P)
b) one TDM04B and one TDM808B
c) one TDM804B (or TDM854B?) and one TDP808B
d) one TDM2403B (half filled TDM2400P)
Apart from considerations of cost and PCI slot

Still looking for small fxo sip gateway
I've been looking around for a small external sip fxo gateway, sending
emails to possible vendors, etc, and can not seem to come up with anything
that fits. Suggestions anyone? (No channel bank & T1 card suggestions,
please. I've also just completed an eval of the Mediatrix 1204 which
does not support the requirements.)
The market between two fxo pstn lines (pair of x100p's) and

FXO Gateways
Does anyone have any experience with the Audiocodes MP-108 FXO
gateway? I'm looking to get one for incoming PSTN lines.
In particular, does it pass caller ID information to Asterisk?
I currently have a Mediatrix 1204 but Caller ID does not work, even
though the specs say it does. All it sends are the names of the ports
set up internally on the gateway (ie. "pstnline1" etc) when
