register with outbound proxy from behind nat for freeworlddialup etc.
Hi,
I've posted a simular message little over a week ago so sorry for
reposting. I need to register to freeworld dial up from behind a nat.
Using the xten software sip client works fine but with asterisk I don't
know how to do it. Last time I posted I got different responses. Some
saying I can't register with an outbound proxy from asterisk others said
they have done it. If it is

Registering a FWD account in asterisk
Hi all,
I have seen a lot of messages in the last time about *
If you put a section in sip.conf as:
> [fwd1]
> reinvite=no
> canreinvite=no
> nat=yes
> type=friend
> secret=dunk13
> username=33537
> host=fwd.pulver.com
> ;host=192.246.69.247
> context=inbound
this does make sense???
What is [fwd1]?
For me it means that a SIP user with the name fwd1 is defined in

FWD problems
I've been having issues getting FWD to work. I posted this same Q to the
FWD forum (no responses yet), but I was hoping someone here had some insight:

I just signed up for an FWD account (I know I had one before, but I lost
it.. :)
I've got it running through Asterisk - all working fine

NAT working outbound with Asterisk and ATA-186 phones
Thanks, Mark!
Here's a summary of what one needs to do in order to get NAT working
with Asterisk. Please note that I have a Cisco ATA-186, and your
experience may be slightly different based on the equipment you're
using. You'll need to have a CVS updated version of Asterisk as
2003-03-06 ~2:00 PM EST.
NOTE: This currently works for outbound calling only, not inbound.

Can't dial "Free World Dialup"--Loop Detected
I played around tonight for a while trying to place a call to the
answering machine at FWD.
It didn't work. I sniffed the connection, and it looks like asterisk
sends out an invite. The gateway at FWD then sends an Invite back, and
then asterisk responds with a "482 Loop Detected" error message.
I have attached the output of a sip debug for this session.

is IAX required for firewall and router?
I'm trying to understand IAX and whether or not it would solve my
difficulties:
'The primary goals for IAX were to minimize bandwidth used in media
transmissions, with particular attention drawn to control and individual
voice calls, and to provide native support for NAT (Network Address
Translation) transparency. Another goal is to be easy to use behind
firewalls.'

Working with FWD, IPTel, SIPPhone?
I'll admit it. I'm a asterisk newbie (but no stranger to telephony).
The setup is simple: two Grandstream BudgeTel 100 phones (SIPPhone
specials) on a private segment calling to a Linux box acting as the
segment's firewall with a leg on our public network. The phones are
setup as SIP/phone1 (x1000) and SIP/phone2 (x1001), respectively (thanks
to the Asterisk HOWTO).

Inbound Free World Dialup - extension not ringing?
Hi to all the * people out there,
Please kind to me as I am both new to Asterisk and to Linux - But I am
learning fast.
My config is quite simple, I'm just following examples and the Wiki: I have
two PC's running X-Lite phones, these work without problems between each
other, and I have a GS BudgeTone-100 registered to Free World Dial UP
(working no problem).
I have tried to

Registering SIP with FWD and ICONNECTHERE
Hi! I am new to Asterisk too, I got the similar problem and I would like to
know how to get * to work behind NAT.
When I have the SIP Debug turn on, I got the error 479 from FWD when * try
to register with FWD, it looks like * is using the local IP (192.168.x.x) in
the Contact field. I have put the nat=yes in the [FWD.Pulver.com] content,
but it does not seems to make Asterisk aware the

Strange SIP issue (again)
Hi,
just to repeat my previous post (and trying to find a solution):
Setup is * behind NAT.
I can use FWD (time service, echo server) without problems when I add
this to sip.conf:
externip=a.b.c.d ; a.b.c.d is the IP of the router (Linux/Nat)
outside_addr=a.b.c.d
My ICH however now responds with:
-- Got SIP response 481 "Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist" back from

Asterisk(OS X) & X-Lite
I'm new to Asterisk and have installed it on OS X. I am trying to use
an X-Lite softphone to connect through Asterisk to FreeWorld Dialup and
am not having any luck.
I have looked at several settings pages at voip-info.com but have had
no luck. I am on a school network which I assume has some security but
the particulars are unknown as they are not very helpful. It is
necessary to

Fwd: more on Free World Dialup groups and FWDLive
FYI
It looks like FWD is looking for value added service ideas for free as
a volunteer.
I think it will fail but we shall see. I really don't get the nerve
of them (Free World Dialup has changed it's name to FWD) to ask for
free ideas and development on a non-free service.
Maybe if they can come up with a killer app and people will adopt it,
then it might work, but then again, people
