sip ... codec conversion matrix
Hi, I have asterisk 1.2.18. I just took a peak at the command: > show translation and I saw that I can only convert from/to ulaw, ulaw, gsm and slin. No speex, no ilbc ... do I need a license or compile something extra? The G723, 726 and 729 ... I need a license, is that it? one for all of them? or for each? How do I get them to work? not just pass-through ... I need conversion. Thanks a

G723 pass-through and codec negotiation
All, Our users have a softphone client that supports the G723 Codec which we want to use for bandwidth reasons, however we do not wish (or have the funds) to license the codec on our Asterisk servers. We have G723 pass-through working between the clients just fine, however calls fail when terminating with Asterisk itself (i.e. Voicemail) or out to the PSTN due to transcoding issues. If it

SIP codec negotiation / manipulation
We're having an odd issue with codec negotiation from one of our SIP providers. Here's the basic situation. We receive an invite from them advertising support for G711, G729, and G723. In our response, we send back that we support G711 and G729. In about half the cases, this results in no problems, with audio being encoded with G711. The other half of the time, they send us a second

How to write sound file with G723.1 codec or G729 codec
Hello, all How can I write sound file with external G723.1 codec ( actually I have CISCO that can make H323 call to Asterisk box with G723.1 or G729 codec ) I am trying to start Record application by specifying in extensions.conf [writesound] exten => s,1, Answer exten => s,2,Record(soundexample:g723sf) or ...... Codec Selection
Hi, I have 2 g729 licences - what I want to do is use g729 by default but if I get more than 2 calls at a time, use gsm for the others. So, I put this on all my sip providers: disallow=all allow=g729 allow=gsm However, this just seems to use gsm for everything. If I comment out the gsm line, it then uses g729. I thought it would use the codec's in the order they are allowed - is this

oh323 codec negotiation
Hello I had this codec negotiation with oh323 call. i used G723 codec and the provider had G729 as first priority. In this situation what ever number i dial i used get "No one there to answer the call". As soon as i changed my codec to G729 the call went through but had other problems, which i got away by dowloading the latest code for oh323. Has anyone seen this problem? or it is

Codec negociation
If you don't want to proxy the media through * the put this setting: canreinvite=yes this will allow the 2 end points to connect directly for the RTP bypassing you. otherwise I have noticed the same when I try to proxy I have to make sure everyone is using the same codec or it doesn't work well. .o-------------------------------------------------------o. No compatible codecs
Original Post ---------------- I have an Asterisk related problem with mutualphone. I can connect to any number with any softphone that I am using (iaxcomm, SJPhone, and a few others). Also I have a Grandstream BT 101. But I cannot call (via Asterisk) to mutualphone destinations. Other destinations go fine. A working phone call (e.g. from iaxcomm) gives the following on the console: --

super high bandwidth codec
I've just gotten off a skype conference call and it pisses me off that the quality of skype is higher than my asterisk calls. Is there such a thing as a super high bandwidth codec? In a situation that you have the bandwidth to share is there something that I can use for important calls when the situation warrants it? TIA, Dean -------------- next part -------------- An

Grandstream Budgetone G723, G729 or any compression
Hi, does anybody made G723 or G729 to work with a GrandStream Phone ? I've a Cisco here and it works fine with G723, but not with my asterisk. The bandwitdh is very important, since we will have our extensions at home. I know that I have what I pay, but the phone works with cisco. Trying to use G723 or G729 Asterisk says no codec available. Does anybody have it working with any compression

SIP routing over IAX2
Hi All, I have two Asterisks, one on the LAN that handles the internal calls with a PSTN interface and one on the DMZ with a public interface. I would like to route SIP calls from the internal users to the Internet over IAX2 to the DMZ and onwards. All users have soft phones so they would enter sip:someuser@somevoip.org to get a connection. I would like to avoid having number prefixes to dial

Can someone on the list confirm if Asterisk can do g723 or g729? when connecting to provider? or it is only supporting g711? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20040106/1d6c78cb/attachment.htm

Codec interface
Hi All, I need to interface a codec-type device to Asterisk. The device uses a TI TLV320AIC1110 codec in 15 bit linear data mode with a 2.048 MHz clock supplied by the device. I am about to start on a custom hardware design to interface this device to the computer, but thought I'd ask here before I get started on it. Does anyone know of a hardware interface that is already being
