FARFON lives!
Some of you have been following our progress on http://farfon.convergence.com.pk as we blundered our way through the development of a low-cost ethernet IP phone that does IAX and augments the client options currently available for the kick-assterisk server. With help from the denizens of #asterisk and kind words of advice from Mr. Spencer and the rest of the gang ... we're proud to have

NewbieQ: SOHO setup with x100p
After scouring the list archive and not finding the answer I decided to post to the list. I'm sure the answer is glaringly obvious but please bear with me. Using Asterisk, I'm tasked with setting up a SOHO with 5 analogue (FXS?) lines and a number of soft-phones for internal extensions. I'm confused by the telephony hardware needed for this exercise - 1) I need the equivalent of two

IVR only system with scalibility with asterisk???
Hello all: Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Background: I am a new user to IVR systems and asterisk. I have been tasked with helping to set up a system that will only handle IVR (eg no PBX functions) incomming calls for 45 or so people that will call in 3 or 4 time each day during (approx) normal business hours. We have started to look at the Ivrs perl module from

Hangup Detection with busydetect
My telco doesn't provide Disconnect Supervision or Polarity Change. So I figured I have to detect hangups with busydetect=yes in zapata.conf. I tested it. When the telco sends a busy tone * detects it and hangsup. So far so good. The problem is the telco doesn't always send a busy after remote hangup. Most of the time it sends a congestion tone. I am guessing these tones from what I

New busydetect routines for analog channels (FXO mostly)
Hello, I've commited the new busydetect routine to CVS. You need to cvs update asterisk of course and then choose it in asterisk/Makefile and recompile asterisk. All you X100P users that had the problems with false hangups or the card not being able to detect the busy tone please check that. In the asterisk/Makefile you need to find a line BUSYDETECT = and uncomment what you want/ comment

busydetect=yes, busycount=5: hangup automtically without reason, why?
Hi All; Why busydetect=yes caused this autmatic hangup happens without any reson (while responding to entering the digits in the IVR) I do not know! And what is the solution I do not know. I used busydetect=yes and busycount=5 in zapata.conf to help me in hangup when detect the busy tone, but I faced the following problem: While I am calling to the Asterisk PBX, and during the response for the

Patch: Inbound-only busydetect
Hi there, I got really tired of false hangups, specially when someone calls from SIP/IAX/whatever to PSTN, which makes no sense in using busydetect in the zap channel, as the caller will eventually hear the busy tones and hangup, causing the zap channel to be "freed" as well... After suggesting that the busy detect be enabled only for inbound calls, and finding other people that think

busydetect and X100P hangups
FYI to anyone else who may be experiencing random hangups; I removed the busydetect=yes lines from the conf files on my asterisk servers, and haven't had a hangup since. I had done that once before and it didn't seem to have much of an effect, so I'm not breaking out the champagne yet. But so far over dozens of calls both made and received since I took that line out, I

a) jerjers been doing a lot commendable work for * b) support is not mandatory, and i agree with royk it should not be withheld based on political viewpoints, that's pointlessly draconian c) choice is always good, so people should have the option of oh323 or h323, let them decide, and not limit them, unless astmaster chooses to limit them, and that too based on valid points d) jerjer gave a
