G.729 Licenses from Digium
According to digium's site, "Note: Please do not attempt to use the G.729 code in a SCSI-only system. We are currently working with VoiceAge to correct this issue." (found at http://www.digium.com/index.php?menu=asterisk_g729). Does anyone know what these issues are? Can anyone define SCSI-only system? I know this sounds kinda dumb, but I have a server with SCSI and IDE interfaces,

Transcoding g.711 -> g.729
Hello, I have an asterisk server running with 23 g.729 licenses. I have also purchased a sound file from thevoice.digium.com. I need to covert this file (uLaw, PCM I think) to g.711, g.729 & g.723 for use with an IVR system. Is there a way I can convert the files using the g.729 digium codec? sox? Thanks -Matt -- Matthew S. "We have created an easy and cost effective way to have customized recordings done quickly and with no hassle." I thought this was rather amusing, as: 1. If you want multiple prompts recorded, you need to submit a new order for each, which means that even prompts of a couple of words are still charged at $12. That is NOT cost effective. You could record all your prompts as a single

Prompts and sound quality of the X100P card (FXO card)
Hi We are trying to get better sound quality out of the prompts on our Asterisk system. We had some new ones made by thevoice.digium.com and they are in WAV format instead of the default GSM format on the Asterisk server. The problem is, when you dial in to the server using the FXO card (X100P) you really can't tell the difference between the WAV prompt and the GSM prompt, however, if you

Words for Allison(?)
I've been looking at the weather vocabulary in asterisk-sounds in CVS. I've run into a few hitches with words I can't seem to find. So far, I'm looking for 'point' (for constructing floating point numbers) and 'around' as in "high around 70" (don't I wish). Any chance of getting these? While I'm on the subject, I'd be very interested in a

Asterisk and festival
I'm having trouble getting festival to work with asterisk. We are running debian (sarge) and got asterisk from CVS. Here's what I'm using as far as festival goes. Debian (Sarge) gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-3) Connected to Asterisk CVS-HEAD-07/28/04-21:08:19 festival-1.4.3-release.tar.gz speech-tools_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz I got patches for both of these. speex preprocess redux
Steve, The main problem I am having with the system is clipping off the start of someone's speech when they first start talking- the ends of the sentences seem to be handled properly. I am wondering whether this is the fault of the audio playback system or whether this is a speex issue- I also get the musical artifacts problem with the denoiser. This seems to be more of a problem on open

"tree": Extracting deviance & Gaussian model of the node?
Hi I'm trying to use the "tree" package in R to predict intonation for a speech synthesiser and when I feed the feature vector into the tree, I want to get the predicted value and the deviance associated with that node. Q.1 --- I was hoping that the following command will return a tree object of the predicted values, but I get the following error:

Digium G.729 codec modules updated
This evening I posted a new set of Digium G.729 codec modules to our FTP server and web site, for Linux x86 and x86-64 processors. They were built using GCC 4.0.1, and they now report the processor they were optimized for when they are loaded. The previous x86-64 module required a non-standard Asterisk binary configuration, so this was corrected. In addition, there was only a generic version

Digium G.729 codec now available for Solaris/SPARC
I have just uploaded Solaris/SPARC G.729 codecs and register tools to our FTP site; they are located with the other non-Linux codecs in the 'unsupported' directory of the g729 subdirectory. There are versions for both Asterisk 1.2 and Asterisk 1.4 in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors; we will be updating the other 'unsupported' codecs and also producing Solaris/X86 versions some time
