Asterisk service crashes
List, The past few days the asterisk service on my server has crashed several times. I have had it running for months and have made no changes to it. When it crashes, I am unable to make calls or gain access to the CLI. The service has been stopped. If I try to start it again (service asterisk start), it will start and run for a few seconds then crash again. After a reboot, it will run

SMBD using nearly 100 percent CPU
Over the past few months, I have seen many postings here about runaway smbd processes with Samba versions 3.0.20 and above. Personally, it never happened to me until today. Also, I have stuck with Samba 3.0.13 on most of my machines because of THIS reported issue and a couple of other issues that I have experienced. However, I have a machine running RIGHT NOW where smbd has gone out of

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1] and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions: 1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

CPU usage from top
I'm seeing some strange results from top on CentOS 4.0. When it first starts, it reports low CPU usage. The next refresh (and subsequent) refreshes, it shows high CPU usage. In both cases, there is nothing shown in the process list that is using much CPU. What is causing this? Here is some truncated output from a single run of "top -b -n 2":

I appear to be attacking others
It looks like my CentOS 4.2 box is attacking other people with some type of ftp attack. I got an email from somebody saying they were being attacked by my IP address. Further investigation /var/log/messages shows a whole bunch of sshd attacks on me, none of which appear successful. I'm running ethereal right now and I can see that my system is doing some kind of ftp attacks on others.

I am running dovecot on OpenBSD 3.8. Below is the output of a process list. As you can see, there are many imap processes for the same login running. simon 11593 0.0 0.1 924 1140 ?? I 12:21PM

Possible Samba Memory Leak
Hi All, We're currently trying to use samba in an embedded application, so we're working with samba 3.0.2a compiled for PPC. We have a test application which will basically write, then read back and compare data files on the disk. The problems we see occur when we try using just over 3500 small files (< 10k each). It seems that after about 200 or so iterations of this test, we start

Hello, The last weekend, the VM with CentOS 7 (kernel-3.10.0-327.28.2.el7.x86_64) was running with 2.5GB of used memory, but without users connected, and heavy services running.
