Total newbie here looking to do a VoIP conference call?
I am looking to help out my company find a more budget conscious but reliable way to hold conference calls between 5+ people. 4x a month we hold several hour long conference calls during non-business hours. All of the employees have high speed internet. Currently we dial up an AT&T conf using regular analog phones. I don't have a great grasp as to what Asterick is capable of, but my

BIG problem with multiple rings before pickup
Hi All... I have a maddening problem... I have Asterisk configured to pick up a line after 4 rings. I do this to allow my fax machine to pick up a particular distinctive ring pattern, so I don't have to pay for a dedicated fax line. If someone calls the line, lets it ring 3 times and then hangs up, Asterisk answers the line, and holds it off hook forever, constantly playing the

SIP Notify contents showing 0/0 on VoiceMail
Folks, My question concerns the SIP Notify that is being sent to ... device. You can see it in the following line: Voicemail: 0/0 Shows no Voice mail but I did leave a voice mail at the extension. Any suggestion on what I should look for in my * setup. I am not worried about the 481 coming back for the other side yet. Once I get a handle on the Notify, I'll work on the 481.

Distinctive ringing on Cisco 79xx
Greetings, I am trying to implement distinctive ringing on a Cisco 7960. I have tried setting alert_info to chirp1 or chirp2 before dialing the phone, but it has no affect. If you have successfully implemented distinctive ringing on a 7960, I would really appreciate seeing the snipit of code that works. Thanks in advance Bruce Komito High Sierra Networks, Inc. www.servers-r-us.com (775)

Double Ring
Hi, It seems like my ATA is making a ringing noise... (as it used to), but now (After the upgrade from 1.0.7 to 1.2) asterisk also is either making the ringing, or passing the PRI ringing from the telco on to me. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

cupsaddsmb - why the heck can't I get rpcclient-addprinter to work?
I can't seem to get the rpcclient-addprinter to work - grrrrrr It looks like the drivers files are copied correctly and the NT drivers are added correctly but the addprinter command says it's unsuccessful! rpcclient localhost -N -U JOHNSON\\root -c 'enumprinters' shows the printer!! What's going on? I've tried removing /var/cache/samba/ntdrivers.tdb

Total newbie here looking to do a VoIP conferencecall?
Patrick hi. Asterisk can do that, and you don't need VOIP lines. If you connect Asterisk to the net, and all employees have a VOIP phone (either hardware or software) then you're good to go. What do you need? To begin with, install linux on an old pc (well, not too old). Then go to voip-info.org and take a look at the Asterisk wiki. Everything you need is there. And of course, we're

ipmitool and CentOS 7
On Dells running CentOS 6, we could use this command ipmitool delloem lcd set mode userdefined "$(uname -n | sed -e 's/\..*//' )" to set the little LCD screen to display the system name, In the latest sevens, it fails, and gives me usage for the command... which displays exactly that syntax. Anyone have a clue? mark

Leadtek BVA8051 / Sipphone.com CallInOne with Asterisk?
I have a lot of experience, all of it pretty good, with various Sipura products, Grandstreams, Zultys, IAXy, and numerous SIP/IAX soft phones connecting into Asterisk as clients. Good sound quality, great reliability. I've tried two of the units named in the subject line, and frankly I'm frustrated. Calls usually start out OK, but within a brief period the sound goes totally to

Distinctive Ring
Hi All, I was wondering what the status of distinctive ring support in Asterisk is? I had a google search & read and Mark Spencer wrote some support for it. Is distinctive ring different in every country or is it pretty standard? And for my final question, does the Wildcard FXO card support distinctive ring? Essentially what I'm trying to do is route incoming calls with ring #1 to,

Wacko Distinctive Ring Patterns being detected??
Hi All, I've recently got a "second" number installed on my PSTN line, trusting the Asterisk distinctive ring detection would work as expected. It appeared to work fine at the start, as the second number generated a different ring pattern to 0,0,0 (in the console) only to realise that almost every phone call to this "second" number generated a different ring pattern.
