Highpoint Rocketraid 2240
Has anyone on the list used one of these w/Linux? We currently use Linux + Cinelerra for editing uncompressed video (and a few dual G5 macs running Final Cut Pro). Current editing stations are getting a bit long in the tooth so I've been mulling over a mass upgrade. 8-) These cards are interesting to me because they are PCI-X and support 4 SATAII drives per multilane/infiniband

boot with more scsi card
hi, we've got a server with a 8 port 3ware card and 2 ide system disks. now we'd like to replace the ide disks with scsi disks or sata disks (these also recognized as scsi in the kernel). but we can't boot from it. the problem are twofold. first in the normal case the first scsi host scsi0 id the 3ware card, but grub only see the first 8 disk so if the system disk are sdi and sdj the

A minor beef with JSON::decode
Hiya, So, what was the impetus behind having ParamsParser create Date and DateTime objects out of application/json requests? The project I''m on expects parameters to be received as standard types (bools, numbers, strings, arrays, and hashes). Rails shouldn''t try to convert objects that are explicitly passed as these types; it should be up to the application to do that.

Where is the kernel source code???
I have centOS 4 installed on my machine but some how it does not support my TV capture card (bt878) in the kernel, so i want to recompile the kernel to add support for my device. However, i cant find centOS 4 kernel source code. I have read some messages in the mailing list and someone said that i just need to yum install kernel-sourcecode to get the source code, i did it but i yum reported

3ware RAID controller scripts
Hello list, I see through the archives that some people here use 3ware RAID controllers with Centos. I have picked up two 9500S-4LP controllers for future servers. I was hoping that if some people could please share their 3ware monitoring scripts with the rest of the group. What I am really hoping to do is have some setup where a cron job runs scripts to test each of the drives connected to the

Re: New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 butnot centos4.2?
The laws already exist: Disturbing the peace, Misappropriation of public funds, Prohibition on unfunded mandates. What's lacking is prosecutors, judges, and juries who see the politicians as getting in the way of the statesmen and the people. To drag this back towards On Topic, it seems to me that the ntp folks might be petitioned to write up and submit to the Congress, a paper

Question on the R's C stack limit
Dear r-devel members, I encountered a C stack limit issue, when I tried to embed R 2.5 into my application. In the R-exts document, it says:"Note that R's own front ends use a stack size of 10Mb". I desire to know: is it possible to decrease this stack size by modifying R's source code? If it's possible, which part of the source code is responsible for the issue? Thank

OT: Web "Project" type software
Sorry for the OT... I'm looking for some software to fill a fairly specific set of requirements. I'm not necessarily looking for project software, but it seems like the closest to match what I need. I'm also not tied into open source or free. If anyone knows of any software that might fill these requirements I would appreciate it. Here's what I'm looking for: 1) Web enabled

TLS, SRTP, Asterisk11 and Snom870s
CentOS-6.5 (FreePBX-2.6) Asterisk-11.14.2 (FreePBX) snom870-SIP 8.7.3.25.5 I am having a very difficult time attempting to get TLS and SRTP working with Asterisk and anything else. At the moment I am trying to get TLS functioning with our Snom870 desk-sets. And I am not having much luck. Since this is an extraordinarily (to me) Byzantine environemnt I am going to ask if any of you have gotten

Problem with SSHD update.
This morning I applied the 13 or so new updates to my servers. On one of them the ssh service and clients stopped working immediately after the update. I restarted the server in anticipation that there might be some instability introduced by updating on a system with active ssh connections. However, this has not cleared the problem. The packages in question are: openssh.i386

CentOS proviiding additional services > was Setting up Tomcat
This thread (... Tomcat ...) emphasizes the essential conundrom of CentOS whose mission is to provide a community-based, well-maintained and freely distributable version of the stable enterprise software from the Well Known North American VENDOR (WKNAV). There is a essential gap betweenthe community (I want lots of current packages) and the WKNAV base (you get what I choose to provide). As CentOS

rpm spec files for ruby
I am trying to package ruby-1.8.6 for CentOS-4.5 and I would like to take a look at the spec files used for ruby-1.8.1 that ships with CentOS. Is there any place that I can see these or could someone do me the kindness of sending them to me? I am also confused as to how one breaks out the component parts of a build into separate rpm packages. The source distribution from ruby-lang.org seemingly

Shutdown KVM guest not working
I am in the middle of a rather confusing situation. At the moment I am unable to shutdown a KVM guest machine. Nor am I presently able to open a virt-manager session on the host. I am not exactly sure what has happened but the problem with the vm guest is that issuing a "virsh shutdown 1" from the root console has no effect. # virsh list Id Name State
