cumsum over varying column lengths
Folks, I have a matrix of historicalReturns, where entry (i, j) is the daily return corresponding to date i and equity j. I also have a matrix startOffset, where entry (1, k) is the row offset in historicalReturns where I entered into equity k. So we have that NCOL(startOffset) = NCOL(historicalReturns). Now I would like compute for each column in historicalReturns, the cumulative return

Small vorbis files with vorbisfile
I think I have bumped into the small file error, or I''m doing something stupid. The files are short audio effects for a game (embedded in our own data format). Sample info: Vorbis packets: 1 (4 kb) Samples: 28672 Samplerate: 22 kHz Channels: 2 This is what I''m doing when I want to get a number of bytes from the stream: The problem is that ov_pcm_tell always returns 0. And so

AFAIK this is all that is needed. But maybe I am missing something. Is there a feature of autossh that I don't get with systemd? --

Sending Signal to remote process
I want ssh to forward the SIGTERM signal to the remote command. Example: ssh root at localhost /root/print-signal.py Get PID of ssh: ps aux| grep print-signal Kill the matching ssh process: kill pid-of-ssh Unfortunately only the ssh process itself gets the signal, not the remote command (print-signal.py). The remote command does not terminate :-( How can I make ssh

FW: filexfer draft and uid / gid resolution ...
Damien, Thanks for the response. Are you aware of any sftp server products that currently implement the uid / gid resolution or is this new draft just too unrefined / recent. Also, is there a definitive source for these drafts and where might they be published? Up till now I have just been reading the documentation available from www.openssh.org. I hope these questions aren't too

sftp/scp only without real users
Hi, my goal: sftp/scp only access, without the need for linux users. I want to provide 10 sftp/scp directories to 10 people. Let's call this "virtual account" I don't want to create linux users for each of them. I would like to create one linux user (backup_user). In his home-directory will be 10 directories. For each "virtual account" one directory. Every

SFTP: a new command to get filesystem size/free space
I am using sshfs with FUSE to mount a remote directory over ssh/sftp (on linux). It would be nice if df could be able to show the total size/free space of the mounted directory. I am aware that returning size/free space would have some limitations. For example, if a subdir of the mounted directory has another filesystem mounted on the remote server, this can not be represented simply. However,

sftp-server failing to rename a file

filexfer draft and uid / gid resolution ...
Sorry if this is not the best place to post this question but I'm not sure who else to ask. After reading through the filexfer draft I am having trouble understanding how a sftp client goes about resolving uid / gid to its text representation. Without handling this translation for the user, how do they know the difference between one uid / gid to the next without opening up a terminal to the

Hi, I would like to implement a 43Folder system[1] with dovecot and a mail user agent. Use case: - I have a new mail in my inbox. I read it and see that I can't handle it now. I want to handle this mail in 5 days. - Now I want to have some sort of resubmission: the mail should be moved to a different location for these 5 days. - After 5 days the mail should be moved to my inbox again. chmod sftp command and setgid/setuid bit
Hi OpenSSH developers, I'm using OpenSSH on a daily basis and I'm very pleased with the work you've done. I am contributing to some Open Source software hosted at Savannah https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/tsp and we recently hit some sftp unexpected behavior: https://savannah.gnu.org/support/?105838 when using chmod sftp client command it appears that setuid / setgid bits are
