Dear R users,
Does anyone know how to graph the function below?
sqrt(2)Γ(n/2)/[sqrt(n − 1)Γ((n − 1)/2]
Please help.

need help on daylight saving time issue.
Hi,
I am in Australian. Now it is daylight saving time in Australian. I have daysaving time issue on samba client as below.
On AIX server, I get the following two files's modified time via command istat.

Accouting for temporal correlation in linear regression
I measured nitrate concentration and primary production (PP) biweekly for
23 months in one headwater stream. I would like to use linear regression
to determine if PP is related to nitrate concentration. My dataframe is
called "data" and consists of the vectors Rdate, PP, and nitrate. Rdate
is the observation date in class "date" and PP is primary production.
I first

Calculate monthly means
I am trying to calculate monthly means by year of phosphates and nitrates from a multi year data set. Can anybody help me out with the most effective way to do this?
My data looks like this:
Collection_Date Test.Name Value
2000-01-24 17:00:00 Phosphate 0.108
2000-01-24 17:00:00 Nitrate 0.037

non-metric multidimensional scaling
Hello,
I would like to perform an NMDS on the following:
I have two independent variables, which are sites and treatments.
I have 6 sites which are peatlands. I collected 5 replicates (at the same time) from each of the sites.
I used each of the replicates in a treatment.
There were 4 treatments. 2 were controls and the other two were a simulated 30 day drought and a simulated 60 day drought.

pdIdent in smoothing regression model
Hi there,
I am reading the 2004 paper "Smoothing with mixed model software" in
Journal of Statistical Software, by Ngo and Wand. I tried to run
their first example in Section 2.1 using R but I had some problems.
Here is the code:
library(nlme)
fossil <- read.table("fossil.dat",header=T)
x <- fossil$age
y <- 100000*fossil$strontium.ratio

FXS Solutions for modems and other non jitter tolerant devices
In the past we have used Adtran Atlas 550's to break out FXS ports for
devices like modems. The great thing about the 550 is that internally it
is all TDM so there is absolutely zero latency.
We are able to use ATA's for faxes and analog phones but devices that use
modems, they fail 99.99% of the time when using an ATA.
We tried to migrate to TA908 devices; they have FXS ports built

Traffic generation and measurement
Hello,
i am searching for a method to generate traffic and measure it, to compare several version of tc configurations.
For my thesis i am researching the best way to use tc for medium sized companies.
For this purpose i analyzed the company network and created a tc schema.
Now i have to test this definition in a kind of simulation outside the network.
Also i have to do a comparison of the

Converting key between PEM and ASCII
According to documentation for a switch which I'm getting SSH enabled,
I need to convert my openssh public key to an ascii string to be compatible
with the switch. The switch uses sshV1. Is there a way to do this? I've
found nothing in the man pages or FAQ and have tried the -x -X (-i -e)
arguments without success but I think they relate to a different translation
anyway.

rsync hangs in 'send_files starting'
Hi all,
I am new to this list. I have a problem trying to mirror a cvs repository. I
suspect the error happens when getting a directory containing many files. I
did a test by creating 200 5k files in a directory named tmp, but It hangs
after building file list. When I try to run it with -vvv:
$ rsync -essh -avvvz cheepy@gateway.internet4u.com.au:tmp .
This is the end of the printout (before

Gamma
Hey,
I am having trouble graphing the following function
√2Γ(n/2)/[√n − 1Γ((n − 1)/2 for the values of n between 2 and 50.
i know that Γ(n) = (n-1)!, which in R is factorial(n-1)
When i type that into R, using y <- function(n).....
and
then plot(y,2,50), it doesnt give me anything meaningful, in fact, it
comes up with a message saying something like "in gamma(n+1) ploted" or

covariance analysis model
Dear list users,
I have trouble with covariance analysis.
I measured nitrate concentrations in the soil (NO3) and the percentage of
legumes (LEG, continuous), affected by 2 different CO2 concentrations (CO2,
discrete). I suspect that CO2 has an effect on LEG and NO3, but also that
LEG has an effect on NO3, so this is the formula I wrote to test this:
NO3 ~ CO2 + LEG + CO2:LEG
Will LEG be

doveot reporting "No space left on device" - yet df show plenty of space / inodes.
Hi,
I am running dovecot 1.0.rc7 on a Suse Linux server. The server has approx 200+ mailboxes.
Last week the filesystem (/dev/mapper/datavg/dat2lv) ran out of space - causing it to do into read-only mode. When I realised this I allocated some more space and re-booted the machine...
Strangely it seems that dovecot is still having problems... It's like dovecot doesn't realise that

Data calls through *
I have a Pitney Bowes (USPS Postage) machine that connects
via a USB modem to fill it.
It connects but soon disconnects. It works fine through a standard
analog phone line not connected to asterisk. I also
have the 'd' option on the Dial command.

Any ideas?
