autolog: easily debug-like logging on the fly in your Rails app
If it helps anyone developing Rails apps or gems, I wrote a shortcut for set_trace_func, so next time you want to just add a line before and after some function you are trying to debug you can have Ruby temporarily output every line, method, etc. executed. Also, it lets you define the format, use other loggers, etc. via a proc/lambda define, since you might not like the default format.

Copy to sent mail timeouts
Hi. I'm running the dovecot IMAP that comes with Ubuntu Edgy, which is 1.0rc2. I realize this is old, but I'll ask my question in case anyone knows about this problem and how to fix it, or knows that a later version definitely fixes it. What I'm seeing is that the IMAP server works perfectly, except for occasional timeouts when the user sends an email with attachments, causing that

customizable idle login timeouts?
We're in the process of migrating from mbox over to maildir. I'm running into a problem with the proxy and timeouts. Appears the idle timeout is set to 60 seconds. This is a bit too low for some of our large mbox files :( Any plans on adding the: #define CLIENT_LOGIN_IDLE_TIMEOUT 60 #define AUTH_REQUEST_TIMEOUT to the .conf file to be tunable on the fly? I ended up just patching the

OpenSSH and Idle Timeouts
Theo et al., I've looked back through the OpenSSH mailing lists and am stumped as to why there is no IdleTimeout option for OpenSSH. (Normally the omission of a feature as useful as this generates much debate and flame-quashing from the dev. team). Is there some background to this that I'm missing? Here's the scenario, and I'm fully open to any workarounds. We use a

Re: RE: Re: BSOD "A clock interrupt was not recevied onasecondary processor within the allocated time interval"
yes, the cause of BSOD 0x101 is that watchdog time interrupt was not received by the vcpu in a certain timeout in Windows kernel . this is taken place especially in vista kernel. Generally speaking, we have some ways to fix this, one is that we an write a programme whitch can intercept the trigger of BSOD 0x101, on the other word, we make kernel don''t care the watchdog time interrrupt.

bge problems in RELENG_9, bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
Hi, I'm having lots of difficulties with BCM5719, which is the default network card of HP Proliant DL 360 G8 servers. I can get a few ping replies before I get a couple of these: bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting Then everything hangs. Can not log in using ssh.

KeepAlive/ClientAliveInterval not working? Idle timeout.
I have set /etc/ssh/sshd_config with: KeepAlive yes ClientAliveInterval 3 However, no KeepAlive type messages seem to be sent. I've verified this by looking at the network lights, which don't flicker every 3 seconds. I am attempting to keep interactive ssh sessions alive longer. If don't type anything for about 2 minutes, the sessions close. If I run a "idle"

watchdog timeout
Hello I have some problems with 3Com nics, after a upgrade from 5.5-STABLE to 6.4-STABLE. This machine has two 3com nics (one is LAN other is WAN) and i see too much "watchdog timeout" on both cards. This on/off up/down on cards, affect the interrupt to clients that are downloading from apache web server, especially on large files. --------------------------------------------

ctdb vacuum timeouts and record locks
Hi, This occurred again this morning, when the user reported the problem, I found in the ctdb logs that vacuuming has been going on since last night. The need to fix it was urgent (when isn't it?) so I didn't have time to poke around for clues, but immediately restarted the lxc container. But this time it wouldn't restart, which I had time to trace to a hung smbd process, and

winbind and vnc revisited
A couple of days ago, I posted a question about using vnc with winbind users (i.e. users from a Win2k3 Active Directory domain being authenticated locally on a Linux box -- in this case Fedora Core 3 -- with winbind). The consensus seemed to be that it wasn't possible, at least with the free versions of VNC. Well, not so. Here's how I did it. First, I found out by accident (i.e. just

[ANNOUNCE] sessreg 1.1.0
sessreg is used by display managers such as xdm and gdm to record X sessions in utmp, wtmp, and lastlog files. This release attempts to clean up some inconsistencies around the handling of the various files. Long long ago, Unix systems had a utmp file to record who was currently logged in, and a wtmp file to record login history. Long ago, extended versions of the files & APIs for them were
