Winbind + SSH + AIX - Connection to aixserver01 closed by remote host
Hello everyone. I was able to get an AIX box configured with winbind, and it looks like everything is working as expected but ssh to the machine and I hope you can help me with this. On the AIX server I'm able to issue wbinfo -u and -g with the right information and also I'm able to do a "su - <AD user>" without any problem. But when doing a remote SSH I just get

Frequent "Connection reset by peer"
Hi, Is there a way to tell why I'm getting frequent "Connection reset by peer" all of a sudden? I'm using a FreeBSD machine, plugged via eithernet to a Linksys router running DD-WRT, to another Linksys 50 feet away running DD-WRT, both of them WDS'd together, plugged via ethernet to another FreeBSD machine. With debug cranked, I see : debug1: channel 0: free:

5.1p on RHEL 3 and password expiration
[ Sorry for the length of this; I felt it better to provide potentially too much info, rather than not enough. I've probably missed something that's important, though! ] I have an odd problem with 5.1p on RHEL3 if "UsePAM yes" and "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" is set. The code detects that the user password is aged (according to shadow) but then fails to let me

ssh trouble checklist
Hi. There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with making an ssh connection. Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and * I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and * there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints. Here's what I did sudo kill <pid-of-sshd> /usr/sbin/sshd No good. Usually I did kill

Still no joy: no X11 protocols
Hello, I know this is likely to give me a brute force attack hit, but the only thing anyone can accomplish by ssh-ing to my machine is to provide me with a tunnel into your machine. So don't bother. Anyway, my server machine is running this: /usr/bin/ssh -X -R ${port}:localhost:22 -o BatchMode=yes \ -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no ${user}@${my_home_machine} On my local machine: ssh -vvv -X

Only one chance to enter a new password?
Hello there, We are using OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004 on various Solaris boxes with PAM and an LDAP server back end. Recently we have added a requirement for users to have complex passwords. The problem is, if a user's password has expired, when they log in they are prompted for a new password (good) but if they enter a non-complex new password the session is closed rather than

Multiple (multiplexed) simultaneous ssh connections - Cygwin bug?
Hello, ? I need to make many (>50) ssh connections from linux to cygwin at the same time. Using Windows 2000 Server (OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL 0.9.8b and updated cygwin) and Linux RHEL4 (OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a). ? It's been difficult to optimize many simultaneous connections. Here were some issues: 1.?????? On Windows XP/Professional, Microsoft intentionally cripples the TCP/IP stack.

OpenSSH_5.2p1. non-vpn login to root account requests TUN interface and cannot exit
Hello! I've configured SSH-VPN between two subnets and it works fine. Option Tunnel=yes in config file is set. The problem I run into is that normal SSH login to root account does not terminate on "exit" command. > ssh root at pig pig> exit ;; screen is cleared but does not return to prompt <ctrl-C> Killed by signal 2. ctrl-D does not work. sshd terminates a session after a successful login
I've recently upgraded our environment to OpenSSH-3.7.1p1 on Solaris, AIX and IRIX. I have had no luck when it comes to getting the IRIX environment to work. With sshd running on an IRIX server, I connect with any other version/OS ssh, watch the connection establish, get right up to the point where the shell should spawn and sshd terminates. I have been unable to find any information online

OpenVMS SSH password expiry woes continue
I sent in a patch a week or so ago for a problem a customer of mine was seeing when trying to connect to their OpenVMS system with an 3.8.1p2 OpenSSH client (running on a linux box or in cygwin) and trying to login to an account who had an expired password. The problem continues although now it has nothing to do with what my patch handled as they have since upgraded their SSH software on the VMS

Problems using gssapi authentication from FreeBSD to Linux machines
Hi all, I'm really struggling with getting Kerberos authentication to work between a FreeBSD host and a Linux host. I'm using the latest 6- STABLE code on the FreeBSD box, I've got forwardable Kerberos tokens (verified with "klist -f") and Kerberos and ssh are working fine in all other ways, but I can't get the Linux box to accept the Kerberos ticket as
