Metropolis: Implementation of Interlock Protocol using Linux Shell Programming, OpenSSH, and GPG
I have wrote a small Linux Shell command for implementing Interlock Protocol
which is known as a cryptographic protocol that resistant to
man-in-the-middle attack. Here is the steps of interlock protocol:
*(1)* Alice send her public key to Bob
*(2)* Bob send his public key to Alice.
*(3)* Alice encrypts her message using Bob's public key. Then she sends half
of that encrypted message to

Suspicious sizes by different C compilers
Hi all,
On my Alpha box running Tru64 5.1, rsync-2.5.4 compiled by GNU gcc
3.0.1 anh GNU make 3.79.1 has this size: 4562848.
The same version of rsync compiled by Compaq C compiler V6.3-028 and
Compaq make has this size: 655424.
It is about _7 times_ smaller!
I did a quick test and they seem both working OK.
Is that normal to see a huge difference in binary size produced by gcc
and vendor's

ssh_SSLeay_add_all_algorithms()
I am confused on how ssh_SSLeay_add_all_algorithms() get used in the ssh applications for openssh-5.7p1 and later releases.
I don't see any of the applications making calls to ssh_SSLeay_add_all_algorithms().
There is a macro that redefines SSLeay_add_all_algorithms() to ssh_SSLeay_add_all_algorithms() but I don't see any code calling SSLeay_add_all_algorithms().
In openssh-5.6p1 and

calling optim from external C/C++ program
Hi,
Does anyone have an example of calling optim() from a standalone C/C++
program? If possible please include the linker options (I am using gcc
version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98))
Thanks, Vadim

OpenSSH sftp(1) renovation project for GSoC 2009
Hello,
Please pardon me if this is off topic, but I thought I ought to
introduce myself.
I submitted an application (aka student proposal) to OpenSSH via
GSoC on Thursday (2009-04-02 19:39:21Z). Of course, I cannot know
if it will be accepted, but in any case, here is the abstract for
anybody on the list who may be interested in offering feedback:

Functional Programming patterns
Hi,
'
Not specific to 'R'. I search for patterns and found
http://patternsinfp.wordpress.com/ which is too heavy for me. There is a
'Pragmatic Programmer' book on such patterns for Scala and Clojure. Is
there anything for R ?
I wanted to code this. Is there a functional pattern in R for multiple
'if' loops like this ?

openssh and keystroke timing attacks (again)
Hi all,
Over the past 10 years, there has been some discussion and several
patches concerning keystroke timing being revealed by the timing of
openssh packet network transmission. The issue is that keystroke
timing is correlated with the plaintext, and openssh users expect
their communications to be kept entirely secret.
Despite some excellent ideas and patches, such as Jason Coit's

CVE-2006-4925 - Affected OpenSSH Versions
Comparison of http://mirror.team-cymru.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/openssh-4.4.tar.gz to http://mirror.team-cymru.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/openssh-4.5.tar.gz source codes, in conjunction with the changes shown at http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/ssh/packet.c.diff?r1=1.144&r2=1.145&f=h, appear to shows that CVE-2006-4925 was fixed with the release of OpenSSH 4.5.

Problem with chan_iax.c implimentation causesbad audio?
We have three remote call center Asterisk servers communicating with two
central Asterisk boxes over a private IP-VPN with QoS. All systems were
running Asterisk 1.0.7 communicating via IAX2 with little or no quality
issues at all.
Once we upgraded to Asterisk 1.2.4 call quality with IAX2 was horrific.
We tried with/without jitterbuffer. We messed with every jitterbuffer
parameter. We tried

Problem with chan_iax.c implimentation causesbadaudio?
We upgraded all five servers to 1.2.4. We tried trunking/notrunking.
End users use an IAX2 softphone on their desktop PCs. Agents are VLANed
and all IAX2 traffic is QoS'd on all LAN and WAN legs. Calls flow from
the agents to the local Asterisk server as IAX2/ulaw. Then they went
over the IP-VPN as IAX2/g729 (we tried ilbc and straight ulaw as well).
Calls get to the PSTN from the

OpenSSH & MinGW?
I'm interested in building just the OpenSSH clients with MinGW.
I figure that the OpenSSL libraries and just the ssh client should be relatively easy to build as they wouldn't require fork()/exec() and the like (well, ssh_askpass() uses fork()/exec(), but that's minor).
The other clients, scp and sftp, will require #ifdef hacks so that they use the Windows spawn()/CreateProcess()

OpenSSH 4.7p1 - support the use of netgroups in AllowUsers and DenyUsers configuration options
Hello,
I have attached a small patch that enables OpenSSH 4.7p1 to use
netgroups for users and hosts entries in the AllowUsers and DenyUsers
configuration options in sshd_config.
This has the following advantages:
* hostnames or ip addresses don't have to be maintained in sshd_config,
but you can use meaningful names for groups of users and groups of
hosts.
* large scale installations can

Problem with chan_iax.c implimentationcausesbadaudio?
All switches and routers give highest priority to traffic on IAX2 port
4569. We use DSCB values over the IP-VPN to prioritize it as well.
This did not change with the upgrade, as we can still see proper packet
coding.
The softphone is provided by our vendor Aheeva. It is the same IAX2
softphone they use in their own call centers. Funny thing is that they
say that moving to Asterisk 1.2.4
