[RFC][PATCH] Kemari v1.0 released
Hi,
I would like to announce the first release of Kemari, an open-source
virtual machine synchronization mechanism for fault tolerance.
It offers a feasible approach to fault tolerance that does not
require the use of specific hardware or modification of applications/OS.
Kemari aims to keep VMs transparently running in times of hardware
failures. It transfers the state of the primary VM to the

[patch] PV drivers can be compiled on CentOS 5.x without any modifications.
Hi all,
Since I could not compile PV drivers on CentOS 5.2, I have implemented
small patch (attached) to platform-compat.h and overrides.mk.
I have tested this patch on both CentOS 5.2 and Debian etch, and it
works well.
Will you review it?
Thank you in advance,
Yoshisato YANAGISAWA.

How to do clustering
Dear List,
I have another question to bother you about how to do clustering.
My data consists of 49 columns (49 variables) and 238804 rows.
I would like to do hierarchical clustering (unsupervised clustering
and PCA). So far I tried pvclust (www.is.titech.ac.jp/~shimo/prog/*pvclust*
/)
but I always had the problem like for R like "cannot allocate the memory".
I am curious about what

How to extract function arguments literally
Dear all,
One of my friends asked me if it is possible to extract actual R
function arguments literally (precisely, as strings). The reason is
simple. He feels sometimes awkward to attach quotation marks :-). What
he actually wants is to pass R command arguments to XLisp subroutines
(He has been an enthusiastic XLisp user for a long time and still tends
to use R as a wrapper to XLisp). Is it

How to change the significant codes default?
Dear R experts,
I am posting this question on behalf of a Japanese R user
who wants to know how to change the siginificant codes default.
As you know, R's default significant codes are:
Signif. codes: 0 `***' 0.001 `**' 0.01 `*' 0.05 `.' 0.1 ` ' 1
But he says that it is usual in economics to give codes such as
`***' for 0.01, `**' for 0.05 and `*' for

NFS exporting a GFS mount point
Hello,
I have a storage offering some 11 TB of space. I'd happily use ext3
and NFS export to 4 client machines, but 8 TB seems to be the tested
maximum. I'd really like one mount point for the whole 11 TB. Since
GFS offers lock_nolock option for local mounting, I'm assuming it's not
so out of line to NFS export this GFS mount point.
Thoughts and inputs appreciated.

Extract text from Microsoft PowerPoint files
Hello CentOS people,
I'm wondering if there are command tools like antiword and docx2txt for
Microsoft PowerPoint files (.ppt and .pptx). The idea is to extract
text from PowerPoint files. Sorry this isn't exactly about CentOS, but
I'd really like it if Yum has something. I tried xlhtml, but it hasn't
been updated in a while and isn't exactly wanting to work on CentOS

But commads "Memory-limits", or "Memory-limits()", causes an error message:

Force close on unattended SSH/SFTP connections
Dear CentOS people,
I'm sure many have faced this before but I can't seem to figure this
out.
I need unattended OpenSSH and its SFTP connections to be closed after a
while (say, in 10 minutes). This needs to override anything that could
be done from the client side (ServerAliveInterval or keepalives a
program like PuTTY can send). I kind of understand it's not always
easy to

Windows 7 client losing trust with domain
Dear Samba,
I'm running Samba 3.3.8 and I have a Windows 7 client that was once able to join
and log in domain users for a while thanks to
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7. Then after Christmas it's showing
"the trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed"
and refusing to log in domain users until I removed and rejoined the domain.

pvclust:a general and a specific question
I realize questions about packages should go to the package maintainer,
but perhaps I have an old email address (suzuki3 at is.titech.ac.jp)
Also I have both a general, and a specific, question.
1) General question: i've used pvclust before to assess significance of
clusters and got reasonable results. However, on a new data set (see
below) the results seem odd. I wonder if pvclust is a

In paticular, you can see a lot of fascinating graphics
examples of R from which you can get many hints.
