Semi-OT: torque, pbs_mom, cpuset, loglevel
We're running the current version of torque. On our small supercomputer
(an SGI), no updates to torque since July, but just recently - someone may
be trying something new - /var/log/messages is on-and-off being spammed
with Oct 15 18:02:04 servername pbs_mom: LOG_INFO::create_job_cpuset,

Samba + ACL - Heading OT
Automated update system supplied with Fedora. Kinda like the RHN, but
free and more up to date version-wise, but without the package checking
done by Redhat.
If you're running Fedora and it's installed, typing "yum update <package
name>" will update a package to the latest version on your downloads
site (it defaults to download.fedora.redhat.com), yum install <package

Howto set/reset/reaad computer account password with samba-4.9.x examples?
Hi list,
I want to perform a domain join of a computer to a given machine account
with reusing it, not overwriting. For this I think, it is the right way
(for a unattend.xml) to use the <machinePassword> described here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/customize/desktop/unattend/microsoft-windows-unattendedjoin-identification#child-elements
in the new feature list of samba

Howto create roaming profiles using samba4 commands only?
Hi list,
this is my first email here :-)
Im using samba4 as ad-dc with ubuntu-14.04.1, which works. I can login
in previously created users on samba4-server with my win8-client.
Unfortunatly I wasnt able to create working roaming profiles yet.
Following the howtos in internet always need the use of windows
admin-tools for creating roaming profiles with the right permissions.
Is it possible to

After reboot, permission denied
I've had samba running under centOS 6 for quite some time now. Last
Friday, I applied updates and rebooted. Ever since, I cannot access my
samba shares :-( This has worked through updates and reboots
previously.
My Linux servers won't run the mount command that's worked for months,
they respond with "mount error(22): Invalid argument" I set the
loglevel to 5, and get a

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in diferent VLANs(with 802.1x)
Cisco phones act a as a switch.
If you do not use the CDP protocol to "tell" the phone it needs to be in
a special VLAN (802.1q) then it will just use the access port settings
on the switch, and, also allow the PC connected to the 2nd Ethernet port
to have access to the network.
However, if you have an all cisco powered network, with all cisco
phones, I could advise you to use the CDP

[semi-OT] rssh FINAL RELEASE! Well, hopefully.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I'm pleased to announce that rssh now has per-user configurations!
Today I released rssh v2.1.0 with that last peice of functionality to
be added, bringing active development of rssh to a close.
Additionally, I spent several hours testing and debugging this release
as thoroughly as I could think to, and I'm pleased to report (tongue
in cheek)

OT: cvs passwd scripting
Howdy and sorry 'bout the OT:
I'd like to write a script that once a week updated my wine CVS
sources for me. There's just one catch: I don't know how to give a
response to the passwd for the cvs tree from a script. I checked out
the advanced bash scripting at tldp.org, but I couln't get Standard
I/O rerouting to do what I wanted. Could someone give me a pointer,
or point me

SCP-Logging
Hi,
as much people in the past i'm looking for a way to "syslog" the files
people copy to and from
our sshd via scp. Unfortunatly SFTP/FTP-over-SSH2 are not an option. The
people using
the scp-access are configured for an scp-only-shell (
http://www.sublimation.org/scponly/).
We use OpenSSH-2.9p1 in a chrooted-environment for content-deployment,
therefore
we need to log every file

A little OT but hopefully still related enough... Maildir Delivered mail naming problems.
Normally I wouldn't post off topic to a mailing list, but I have posted
every where else I can think of and haven't had any success yet working
this out. I know there has to be a few people here with extensive
knowledge of how mail works and maybe just a tip in the right direction
would help me out at this point.
I have migrated from mbox format to Maildir format in the last week. I

[patch] 'c' and 'd' in setacl
Hi Timo,
Hi *,
I just recognized that the new imap-acl plugin in dovecot 1.2 does not
know the obsolete rights 'd' and 'c' when setting. According to RFC
4314 section 2.1.1.:
If a client includes the "d" right in a rights list, then it MUST be
treated as if the client had included every member of the "delete"
right.
and
If a client includes

sshd key comment logging
Hi,
I admin a box that has Subversion users authenticate with public keys
to a restricted 'svnuser' account. The comment field of all the keys
describe who they belong to (it has their usernames), but unfortunately,
sshd does not log this when a user successfully authenticates:
Jun 21 08:18:22 localhost sshd[23636]: Accepted publickey for svnuser
from x.x.x.x port 2065 ssh2

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in different VLANs(with802.1x)
Switch is only tagging the vlan packets. Once the PC loads the vlan
aware driver ("client") it will be able to read tagged packet for the
vlan which PC has been configured to use. Nothing to be done on the
switch.

Somewhat OT: OpenOffice.org Headless issues as non-root user
Hi,
I've installed recently OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Centos 5.3. I use OOo in
headless mode. I have no problem when running as root, but I'd prefer
run it as non-root user (oooserver user). When I run the script in
debug mode this is the output:
sh -x /tmp/ooo-headless-nonroot start
+ . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
++ TEXTDOMAIN=initscripts
++ umask 022

preauth privsep logging via monitor
Hi,
This diff (for portable) makes the chrooted preauth privsep process
log via the monitor using a shared socketpair. It removes the need
for /dev/log inside /var/empty and makes mandatory sandboxing of the
privsep child easier down the road (no more socket() syscall required).
Please test.

Logging IP address for failed login
Hi,
I am trying to use the logs to show the IP that brute force activity comes from, but Im not succeeding. I have read the archives and seen the advice others have had. I can see logs for repeated bad logins, but I need the IP address from the attempts.
dovecot 2.0.12 / CentOS 5.4 / imaps only (993)
I have tried a bunch of different combinations of 10-logging.conf settings. This is what I have

yes, I did.
I get the same results with "getent passwd testuser" on each node.
/etc/ctdb/nodes and /etc/ctdb/public_addresses is exactly the same on
each node
On each node sernet-samba/stretch,now 99:4.9.12-15 amd64 is installed
Yes, I read the documentation. It is strange, that another cluster in
another office configured that way is working perfect ;( The load is not

schema enhancement recommandation?
Hi list,
Im using Samba 4.x (x >=8) and Im excited about the new "samba-tool
computer" simplification of computer managment in AD mode.
Now I would like to use some more information tagsĀ in the computer
section, i.e. partition information or macadress of the nic.
So I tried to enhance the schema (using 4.10.0pre1-GIT-8c00c017cb5) i.e.

patch for openssh3.5p1 - adds logging option
this patch adds a LogFile option to sshd_config. it just logs messages
directly to a file instead of stderr or syslog. the largest change
is an additional argument to log_init() in log.c for the log file name
(and then changes to the rest of the tools to add a NULL arg).

Permission Issue
Hi,
just to keep you updated:
The following trick seems to work for me:
1.) I stopped winbind on the cluster
2.) I deleted the cache: "net cash flush"
Afterwards the result for "id testuser" was not quite the same like the
result on the "old fileserver"
3.) I stopped the ctdb daemon
4.) I backuped /var/lib/samba/winbindd_cache.tdb on all nodes
5.) I restared
