ssh 4.x using aix 5.3 auditing
I'm still a bit confused as to how control-d is interpreted in ssh vs telnet. The only thing I can figure is that telnet traps control-d as User_Exit or USER_Logout and ssh interprets it as EOF. If EOF is triggered, then the auditing subsystem doesnt care. The 'logout' command is only affected if you are NOT logged into the console. ==================== test_citi:/root # grep

How to set the dimension of a matrix correctly?
Hi all, I use kriging to interpolate the precipitation from stations, but the map of this results show lots of stripes. (please see the attachment)I think there's something wrong with the setting of the dimension of this matrix, however, I have no idea how to know or test to see if this setting is correct or not.I've tried to switch the latitude and longitude, but still got the same

Binning a 2 column matrix by avarages of rows.
Newbie here. Many apologies in advance for using the incorrect lingo. I'm new to statistics and VERY new to R. I have a "nx2" matrix , I want to sort the values based on the average of 2 columns and put k lowest (or highest) values in bin1, second k high/low values in bin2, and so on (bins would be of the same dimensions). I should also know what the first index (or position) of

IBM ServeRAID M5014 and CentOS 5.5
Hi all, we are about to buy some IBM x3550 M2 servers with ServeRAID M5014 SAS onboard controller. Can anyone confirm that these controllers will work with CentOS 5.5 (seems to be some rebranded LSI controller). I cannot find any hint in the 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 sources... speed-tuning samba?
What's the current state of the art with this black magic? It looks like there are a vast number of tuning options and the ones that typically show up in advice are: socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY read raw = yes write raw = yes oplocks = yes max xmit = 65535 dead time = 15 getwd cache = yes some of which may be the defaults anyway. One thing in particular that I'd like to

AIX and NT password sync
An update on my problem with NT workstations accessing Samba running on AIX 4.3.2. I checked the www.redbooks.ibm.com website, and the IBM manual AIX for Windows NT: Solutions for Interoperability SG24-5102-01 states that they recommend a product called Passync by Suntunix. I tried to find their website (www.syntunix.com) and it seems they've gone out of business! Does anyone know

[PATCH] build: Don't test for qemu virtio-serial at configure time.
qemu has supported virtio-serial since forever, and we depend on much newer features now, so testing for virtio-serial is pointless. In fact allowing a set of possible qemu binaries to be supplied is also pointless, since packagers or even people building from source know what qemu binary they want to use. Now the possible options for --with-qemu are: * --with-qemu=search (or --with-qemu

[PATCH] configure: simplify the qemu cpu mapping
Use AS_CASE to properly map from the host cpu to the qemu cpu suffix; this avoids doing multiple string replacements using sed, and it is possible to use case-like syntax. --- configure.ac | 16 +++++++--------- 1 file changed, 7 insertions(+), 9 deletions(-) diff --git a/configure.ac b/configure.ac index a571de5..75dfb37 100644 --- a/configure.ac +++ b/configure.ac @@ -755,15 +755,13 @@

Binning Question
Hi, I'm trying to setup some complicated binning with statistics and could use a little help. I've found the bin2 function from the ash package, but it doesn't do everything I need. My intention is to copy some of their code and then modify as needed. I have a vector of two columns: head(data) r1 r2 [1,] 0.03516559 0.03102128 [2,] 0.02162539 0.14847034

passwords for NT and AIX
I've finally gotten Samba (version 1.9.18p4) working on a RS/6000 server running AIX version 4.3.2, for a group of Windows NT 4.0 workstations on build 5 to access some shared directories. Everything works fine when I set them up - I have encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd in my smb.conf, added the passwords to the smbpasswd file, and it

For Loop - loading 10 sets of data and calculating
I am trying to simplify my code by adding a for loop that will load and compute a sequence of code 10 time. They way i run it now is that the same 8 lines of code are basically reproduced 10 times. I would like to replace the numeric value in the code (e.g. Bin1, Bin2....Bin10) each time the loop goes around. Below i tried doing this with a simple for loop and adding the string character before

lmPerm p-values and multiple testing
I've started using lmPerm in order to perform regressions in R. The equation I want to fit has the form: out3 <- lmp(outcome ~ bin1 + bin2 + cont1 + cont2, perm="Exact") Where "outcome" is a non-normally distributed continuous variable, and bin* and cont are binary and continuous regressors (similarly, they are non-normally distributed). Each variable has a length of

[PATCH] Tighten /etc/crontab permissions
Hi folks, While investigating OpenBSD's cron implementation, I found that they set the systemwide crontab (a.k.a. /etc/crontab) to be readable by the superuser only. The attached patch will bring this to FreeBSD by moving crontab out from BIN1 group and install it along with master.passwd. This change should not affect the current cron(1) behavior. OT: reset IBM Bladecenter AMM web access
Hi all, Sorry for the OT. Does anyone can share to how to reset an IBM Bladecenter Advance Management Module web access? Recently, I've got an IBM Bladecenter chassis E 8677. [PATCH] Allow ./configure --without-qemu.
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones at redhat.com> This means there will be no default hypervisor, and effectively the user will always have to specify one (eg. by setting LIBGUESTFS_HV or calling guestfs_set_hv). This is useful on platforms where qemu doesn't work, or where qemu is not needed (eg. if you want to use UML, or you just want to compile libguestfs without

SMB/CIFS vs DFS
Hello, I am running Mandrake 8.0 I am installing & upgrading to Samba 3.0.28 I just finished reading IBM's Redbook "Open Your Windows with Samba on Linux" (redp3780). I'd like to know, what is the best configuration between SMB/CIFS & DFS, in a Linux (servers) & Windows (clients/workstations) network. Even though I read the Redbook, it still not clear as to which
