Samba with dns error Failed to connect to our DC
Hi,
I just installed Ubuntu Server and Ubuntu classic desktop. Now I am trying to join active directory and I get this DNS error and failed to connect to the DC.
How to fix this error plus I noticed on my windows 2008 Server that my Ubuntu server showed up as a Computer and not a domain controller.
Is this correct? I would think it would show up as a DC just as it does when I joined my 2003

Joining Active Directory & wbinfo -u
Hi,
I was able to join the domain correctly and from what I Understand I should see it added as A computer on my
Windows 2008 Server PC. Is this true? But when I do a wbinfo -u I do not see my domain users listed.
I was wondering if this is because we installed winbind4 rather than winbind?
I installed samba4 and winbind4 in Ubuntu 11.04 LTS
Thanks for everyones help,

My smb.conf file works on Fedora 11, but not Fedora 16
I setup a new box with Fedora 16. I have Firewall and SELinux disabled. I can ping the IP and host name from the outside. I copied the smb.conf file from a similar box that was running Fedora 11 to my new box. When I try to browse the shares on the new box, I keep getting rejected "cannot browse the shares". This happens whether I browse from a Windows or Linux system. What am I

Siemens Optipoint 400 and Voice Mail
Hi all,
I have looked through the wiki guides and also Siemens user guides but
they haven't proven useful. Nor has the normally trusty googling. Also
have upgraded to the latest Optipoint 400 Standard SIP firmware.
Having read a few previous threads on the Optipoint it seems that there
isn't much take up with Asterisk. Which seems a shame as my experience
with testing it has been

[LLVMdev] LLNL wants one of you (as an HPC compiler and tool developer)
Hi everyone,
Colleagues of mine at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), having seen the advantages of working closely with LLVM, have decided to toss their hat into the ring and would like to hire an LLVM-focused compiler engineer. I collaborate with LLNL regularly, and I'm excited that they're taking this step. I expect that a qualified applicant will find this position both

Credit Card machines / interop
Hi all,
One of the areas I am trying to research before I can confidently start
deploying Asterisk is "Credit Card Machines". (PDQ / Streamline machines
/ any similar)
I'm talking about the credit card swipe boxes at point of sale desks. I
believe they dial out to the specific bank provider everytime a card is
swiped.
My question is:
- Does anyone have any experience using

unreachable trusted domains in enterprise environment
Hi All
We have quite a complex enterprise environment which includes a global
domain and lots of little asteroid domains all trusted by the central
domain. We have (imaginatively) called this central domain ENTERPRISE.
I have configured samba to be an ADS member server successfully, but due
to our network design many of the asteroid domains's DC's are
uncontactable from our regional

[LLVMdev] RFC: Upcoming Build System Changes
Daniel,
I'm just a 42 year old former NeXT and Apple Dev who back in Mechanical
Engineering is excited about OpenCL/OpenGL and all that is with
LLVM/Clang, but I've got to say that even though my plans include
learning Python for various areas of development the last I want to deal
with is a Build system needing it to compile a Compiler Suite.

Problem with openssh-4.0p1 and tcp wrappers on RH7.2(Scyld)
I have tried to update openssh-3.1p1 of our system that uses RH7.2 (Scyld).
I is pretty much a standard Redhat 7.2 install with openssl-0.9.6b,
zlib-1.1.4 etc.
I have gotten openssh to work after some initial issues, but I still
have not been able to get openssh/sshd to work with tcp-wrappers.
I have in hosts.deny
ALL: ALL:
and in hosts.allow
ALL: localhost, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.

rsync through multiple ssh hops with password authentication prompt
Hi, I have searched the whole internet and mailing list and I was unable
to find a clear answer to this. The method described in the FAQ [1] are
not useful for me.
Three machines source, middle, target. ssh into middle from source
requires password pass_middle. ssh into target from middle requires
password pass_target. One cannot reach target from source. So I can do:
source $ ssh middle

[LLVMdev] RFC: Upcoming Build System Changes
Hi all,
As you might have inferred, I'm in the process of working on some changes to the
way LLVM builds. I have outlined a rough proposal below, unless there are any
major objections I will probably start committing stuff next week.
This message may be verbose, if you want the executive summary, skip
to 'What This
Means For Jane "LLVM Developer" Doe' at the bottom.
