curious behavior with ssh OpenSSH_3.9p1
Sirs,
I'm trying to figure out why ssh (red hatOpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a
Feb 19 2003)
hangs to a solaris (Sun_SSH_1.1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL
0x0090704f) after some time. the times seem
variable. the process is still alive on the remote site.
I can connect to another red hat machine on the same site with longer
sessions. This computer has an older

exit status of ssh?
The man page for ssh says that the exit status of ssh should
be the exit status of the program that it runs.
The session terminates when the command or shell on the remote machine
exits and all X11 and TCP/IP connections have been closed. The exit sta?
tus of the remote program is returned as the exit status of ssh.

ssh exits with the exit status of the remote command or with 255 if an

max cmd. length in sftp?
Hi,
I've found by empirical methods that there is a limit to command in sftp. In
fact the sftp client hangs after 256 characters of input.
I've tested on the following two implementations:
1) OpenSSH_4.2p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8a 11 Oct 2005
2) SSH Version Sun_SSH_1.0.1, protocol versions 1.5/2.0.
Both behave in the same manner.
The reason I'm askin is that we're having problems in

OpenSSL ENIGNE support for OpenSSH
Hi all,
attached is a patch that enables using hardware crypto accelerators
available through OpenSSL library for SSH operations. Especially in
ssh/sshd it can bring a significant speed improvement. OTOH if no crypto
engine is available, nothing bad happens and default software crypto
routines are used.
This patch is used in SUSE Linux OpenSSH package and proved to work (at
least it didn't

openssh-unix-dev Digest, Vol 16, Issue 9
Hello,
We tested OpenSSH 3.9 in Hp-UX platforms for Passwordauthentication
under PAM modules. We started the SSH Daemon with following settings:
Usepam yes
ChallengeResponseAuthentication yes
passwordauthentication yes
The client is invoked with ssh -o'Passwordauthentication yes' localhost
-vvv. The debug traces shows that the authentication suceed as
keyboard-interactive.

Challenge response authentication and PAM
As an experiment I set up Challenge/response authentication on a Linux
system with PAM using a pam_opie module (this module works fine with
console logins and su).
I can log into the box using the opie password, *but* it does not give
me the challenge - which can make things a little tricky :-)
I can well believe this might be a fault in the PAM pam_opie module I
am using, so has anyone got

weird behaviour of commands option : bug or not ?
Hello
I think I've found a bug but since no one replied to me on comp.security.ssh,
I'll try my luck here.
On my client, PreferredAuthentications is set to publickey, password.
When using the commands option in authorized_keys file like
command="ls" ssh-dss <key>... it is supposed to connect using the private key
associated with <key>, perform ls and then quits.

x509 patch for SSH
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi guys,
been trying the x509 patch for ssh from Roumen, it works great.
However, I can't figure out couple of things, and been trying to solve
it for couple of days already.
I'am using OpenSSH_4.7p1-hpn12v19, OpenSSL 0.9.8g
with 6.1 version of your patch.
The serverside hostkey is configured correctly, to present x509v3-sign-rsa

Call for testing for coming 2.9 release.
If we can get people to test their platforms against the last snapshot/cvs
tree I'd be greatful. (http://www.openssh.com/portable.html)
I know NeXT platform has problems. I'm going to spend tonight looking at
it.
Also, take a moment to see what manpage type ./configure decided for your
system and if it's 'cat' please let us know.
Thanks.
