ControlPersist.
This is a better approach to persistent control masters than my previous
attempt. Instead of forking before we make the connection, do so only
when the original session has closed -- much like the code for '~&'
backgrounding already does.
My earlier patch for 'ControlPath none' still applies and is required, btw.

%h,%p,%u expansion for ControlPath
This allows me to set 'ControlPath ~/.ssh/sockets/%h.%p.%u' for example.
Have I missed a good reason why ssh_connect finds the default port
number for itself instead of just having it in options.port (like we do
for the the default in options.user)?

ControlPersist and multiple X11 forwarding.
Three patches attached.
One implements a 'ControlPersist' option, which when used with
'ControlMaster auto' or 'ControlMaster 'yes' make makes the master
background itself and stick around after its own primary session is
completed.
The second causes control clients to pass X11 display, auth proto and
auth data over the control socket so that appropriate X11

Allow --without-privsep build.
I've been trying to cut down the size of openssh so I can run it on my
Nokia 770. One thing which helps a fair amount (and will help even more
when I get '-ffunction-sections -fdata-sections --gc-sections' working)
is to have the option of compiling out privilege separation...
Is it worth me tidying this up and trying to make it apply properly to
the OpenBSD version? Does the openbsd

Can't get LocalForward to work when using ControlPath
Hello All--
First, thanks for ControlPath/ControlMaster. It's very handy, and
ControlMaster=autoask is just what i wanted!
I'm having difficulty with a common use case, however. I want to
LocalForward on secondary connections using an already-established
ControlPath. From what i can tell, the second ssh connection doesn't
report any errors, but silently ignores the supplied

[PATCH] PreferAskpass in ssh_config
Moin,
attached is a patch, which adds a new configuration option
"PreferAskpass" to the ssh config.
ssh{,-add,-keygen,-agent} will use ssh-askpass to prompt for passwords, if
this option is set to "yes", and if ssh-askpass is available.
Default for "PreferAskpass" is "no".
Pacth is against current CVS.

getsockopt TCP_NODELAY: Socket operation on non-socket
We get the warning above whenever we use a ProxyCommand. We _know_ it's
a pipe, so we can't use sockopts on it. So we shouldn't bitch about it.
This breaks all kinds of things which use SSH transparently; including
pine, which really wants the first thing it receives from an IMAP server
to be a valid imap greeting... which $subject is not.
$ ssh -o "proxycommand sh -c '(

ControlMaster, scp and current working directory
Hi,
It seems there is a problem regarding ControlMaster and scp'ing a file
depending on the current working directory:
$ cd ~/Personnel
$ scp -o ControlMaster=yes cox.jpg host.local:
muxserver_listen bind(): No such file or directory
lost connection
$ scp -o ControlMaster=no cox.jpg host.local:

$ cd

how to speed up OpenSSH command execution (and a speed analysis)
Hi.
I recently did some investigation about how to get out the last
microseconds of
executing commands via OpenSSH on remote host (of course I'm using
ConnectMaster).
MOTIVATION:
I'm introducing Nagios (well actualla Icinga) at the local institute.
We have
many active checks that must run locally on the remote hosts.
The "best" way to do this is using NRPE (Nagios Remote

dovecot 2.0 vs. SELinux
Hi,
we were modifying old SELinux rules for dovecot 2.0. Everything seems ok, only
one report seems odd:
"SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/dovecot "write" access on dovecot.conf."
Looking at strace output, dovecot tries to use socket on
/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf which is regular file and no socket:
