OpenSSH and a "handicaped" flavour of UNIX.
Hello! Is it possible to make the sources a bit more portable? I'm on QNX4 with Watcom C v10.6B which has no support for int64. I'd like to be able to compile as many modules as do not depend on int64. (Currently I do not need SFTP that bad, the SSH is enough for me) -- Best regards, Anthony mailto:rz1a at mail.ru

ssh-agent: How to use it properly?
Hello list, Again not sure if this is a right place to ask. I read the "Snail book" (SSH, The secure shell. The definitive guide. 1st ed.) and try to figure out whether I need a copy of the ssh-agent running on a host through which I try connect further. The Snail book recommends running the ssh-agent on the remote host always if the TTY is allocated (i.e. I not just

"ssh user@server /bin/sh" vs "no-pty" option.
Hello List, Do I get it right that I *MUST* chroot a user first and make /bin/rssh his shell in the /etc/passwd to effectively restrict him? There should be no /bin/ksh (or bash) in his jail? If I do not jail him - no matter what is his passwd shell - he will be able to issue "ssh user at server /bin/sh" still, right? -- Best regards, Anthony mailto:rz1a at

[ANNOUNCE] xdm 1.1.15
xdm is a basic X11 display manager and GUI login screen. This release fixes a failure to build with the upcoming gcc 14, cleans up several other compiler warnings, fixes a bug in the generation of the xdm.service file for systemd, and removes a lot of dead code checks for platforms & features that have not been supported since the conversion from Imake to autoconf in 2005. Oops when mounting btrfs partition
As mentioned on Google+, I have a partition that I can no longer mount normally, containing a lot of my personal data and all backups from my laptop. I found now that I am still able to mount it using the ''nospace_cache'' option, but it takes a couple of minutes and I get "INFO: task btrfs-transacti:1698 blocked for more than 120 seconds." messages reporting the thread

Remote users on external networks unable to connect to the host using F-Secure SSH from their workstations. The Host is installed with openssh-3.4p1 from IBM. Is there Wine-like software for other guest platforms?
The wine concept--a compatibility layer that allows running executables compiled for Windows on a Linux or Unix host--is a very useful concept that could reasonably be used to adapt between other platforms. It's somewhere between running a virtual machine and cross-compiling the application. Is there anything similar for other (non-Windows) guest platforms? Right now, I'm specifically

username case
I've had several instances now on my mixed NT 3.51/4.0/Samba network where clients on Win boxes would enter a username such as "THisbites", and be denyed access. The account in /etc/password was capitalized as "THisbites" and the NT domain account shows in User Manager as "THisbites". Nonetheless, Samba refuses them access, and claims (on a debug level3 ) that

[PATCH 00/79] fs: new accessors for inode->i_ctime
I've been working on a patchset to change how the inode->i_ctime is accessed in order to give us conditional, high-res timestamps for the ctime and mtime. struct timespec64 has unused bits in it that we can use to implement this. In order to do that however, we need to wrap all accesses of inode->i_ctime to ensure that bits used as flags are appropriately handled. This patchset first
