Help with permissions when moving data between Windows and Samba.
Hello list Samba-3.0.8 on Fedora-Core3. I am currently testing Samba as a member server of an AD domain and using winbind for user resolution. Samba is joined to the AD domain and can I can write files as the "domain\user" on a test share. This server is to be used as an archive storage area so I need to move data from existing Windows 2000 server's to the Samba share while

Kickstart problem.
I am trying to use kickstart for automated builds from a DVD. Some of the machines have DVD's drives and some have CDRom drives only. With the CDRom only machines I would like to plug in an external DVD drive via USB and use this to kickstart. The DVD only machines work correctly with a isolinux.cfg as label test kernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.img ramdisk_size=8192

Winbind + NIS + winbind trusted domains
Hello list, I need to setup a samba file server with user access from a Windows AD domain and a separate Solaris NIS domain. All of our users have an account on the AD domain but only some of our users have a Unix account. I would like Windows users that have a Unix account to have files written as per their Unix uid and users that do not have an account to have a uid assigned from winbind. I

ISCSI help
I am fairly new to ISCSI and SAN technology but having recently invested in the technology I am trying to find out exactly what can and can not be manipulated, filesystem wise, without requiring a reboot. I am using the inbuilt software ISCSI initiator and multipathing in CentOS 5.1. My steps so far. Create 10GB volume on SAN # iscsiadm -m session -R # fdisk /dev/mapper/mpath0 # kpartx -a

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] Meaning of LLVM optimization levels
Of course it's *possible*, in a fundamental sense. It's even pretty easy to get right in a compiler back end (in a conceptual sense). You have to touch a LOT of code, but all the changes are trivial. We did this at Tartan Labs back in the 90s. Done with only a bit of care, it makes debugging possible at any optimization level. The idea is to make the debug information reflect what the

RE: E164 updater Client
Hi Asterisk users/e164 developers, I have had an idea on how to improve the functionality of the E164 service. The idea is that when I'm no longer at my house I actually want to receive calls at another number So I have a small software client on my windows desktop and I tell it I'm no longer here I'm going to be on my mobile (similar to the no-ip.com dns updater I use) The client

Question about dhcpd.leases
Hi, I'm running a DHCP server on my local network. I've noticed something that puzzles me. Leases are written to /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, but only - so it seems to me - if the address is not fixed in any way in dhcpd.conf. Here's a few stanzas of my dhcpd.conf : host babasse { hardware ethernet 00:0d:61:ae:6b:8f; fixed-address 192.168.1.1; option

Promise FastTrak TX2000
Does anyone have this card working in hardware RAID mode? I can see the individual ATA drivers when booting. The promise site has drivers for Redhat 7.3,8 and 9, but nothing for higher. I see the source code, and can build the module, but I need it loaded at boot time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Sean

Apache: confusion about virtual hosts and DNS on a local network
Hi, I set up a webserver with Apache on one of the machines on the local network. There's a DNS configured for the LAN, with a dummy domain name (presbytere.local), and every machine is pingable by its hostname. The webserver runs on the machine 'buildbox'. The webserver actually has two (static) websites on it, for testing and fiddling purposes. Each site's pages are stored
