Re: New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 butnot centos4.2?
The laws already exist: Disturbing the peace, Misappropriation of public funds, Prohibition on unfunded mandates. What's lacking is prosecutors, judges, and juries who see the politicians as getting in the way of the statesmen and the people. To drag this back towards On Topic, it seems to me that the ntp folks might be petitioned to write up and submit to the Congress, a paper

comparing ARIMA model to data
hi, i am trying to teach myself about ARIMA models. i have followed examples from a number of sources and have more or less got the hang of how it works. i would like to compare the output from the fitted model to the original data. is this possible? or even a meaningful thing to do? to be clear, for example, having generated a fit to some data using > fit <- arima(LakeHuron, order = c(1,

lines and points without margin
hi, i am sure that this is a trivial question but i have not been able to find an answer by searching the mailing lists. i want to plot points on a graph, joined by lines. the command that i am using is points(x, y, type = "b", pch = 21) this plots nice open circles at the data points and draws lines between them. however, the lines do not come all the way up to the edge of the

NaN with ccf() for vector with all same element
hello, i have been using ccf() to look at the correlation between lightning and electrogamnetic data. for the most part it has worked exactly as expected. however, i have come across something that puzzles me a bit: > x <- c(1, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0) > y <- c(0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0) > ccf(x, x, plot = FALSE) Autocorrelations of series 'X', by lag -4 -3 -2 -1 0

scale caption on levelplot
hi, i am trying to figure out how to put a caption on the colour scale of a levelplot. there does not seem to be an option for this in levelplot(). i tried using mtext() but as soon as you put the text far out enough on the right of the plot, it goes beyond the plot boundary. so i tried to extend the margin on the right of the plot using par(mar) but this did not have any effect on the plot area.

aov documentation page: question
Dear all I was looking at the aov documentation page and came across the following which seems like a contradiction to me: " This provides a wrapper to |lm| for fitting linear models to balanced or unbalanced experimental designs." (I presume 'This' refers to aov) and "|aov| is designed for balanced designs, and the results can be hard to interpret without

path for source()
hello, i have a couple of .R files distributed about my file system. i commonly source() these from other files, but i have to include the full file path. this is not always convenient if you move files around. is there a way of setting the search path for source()? thanks a lot! cheers, andrew. -- Andrew B. orientation of eps files
hello, i have a problem with the orientation of eps files produced with the postscript() command. i have generated some eps files with R using: postscript(file = filename, horizontal = FALSE, paper = "special", onefile = F ALSE, height = height, width = width, pointsize = pointsize) now, when i include these eps files into a standard paper document (ie. a4 paper, portrait orientation)

New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 but not centos4.2?
>From a login on a machine with rhel4u2 I can execute the following commands and get the indicated output: date --date="Mar 25 15:00:00 UTC 2006" Sat Mar 25 10:00:00 EST 2006 date --date="Mar 25 15:00:00 UTC 2007" Sun Mar 25 11:00:00 EDT 2007 As you can see, the output differs for 2006 and 2007. That indicates that rhel4u2 includes changes required by the

CentOS4.2 and wifi
Dear all Can anyone tell me, does CentOS4.2 include a wifi manager that will handle 128 bit WEP out of the box, so to speak? The version of kwifimanager with 4.1 would only do 64 bit due to an oversight at KDE Towers... rsh/rlogin on CentOS4.2
Hello all, I'm not quite sure what has changed in the recent rsh commands, but I can't seem to get around the password promting. I need a clnk rsh between two machines in order to run my backup script. I added all the usual .rhosts with the proper permissions et al added the xinetd.d confilg files, opened ports 543 and 544 in my firewall, yet when I use the rsh commands, I get either a

Hi! Whew, I have googled around a lot w/this but can't quite seem to come up w/the right answer. This system works beautifully w/nothing wrong w/it. But my goal is to be able to test the raid system by just unplugging hda to mimic a faulty drive and have it just carry on and boot from hdc. md0 = hda1/hdc1 /boot (primary boot partitions on both drives) md1 = hda2/hdc2 / is it possible to
