3Ware Escalade 9500S controller question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Greetings folks,
I'm currently redoing my home server as one of the hard drives in my
RAID-1 array went down and I'm going to replace the lot of it with a
3Ware Escalade 9500S RAID capable card and four Seagate 200GB SATA
drives. These drives are supposedly the coolest and quietest SATA
drives available (better than the Maxtors I had anyway)

Centos 3.4 3ware 9500S Floppy Boot Disk
We have created a Centos 9500S Floppy Boot Disk
for installing Centos on a 3ware 9500S series
controller that will allow installing and
booting directly from this controller.
This boot disk supports only AMD XP, MP and
Opterons in 32 bit mode Centos 3.4 for the
up and smp versions.
We can also do a x86_64 version if required.
Any interest????
If so we will post it to our web site.
Thanks

Hello,
We have recently purchased two Supermicro servers, AS-1021M-T2RB
(http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/system/1U/1021/AS-1021M-T2RV.cfm), and
have built them both with CentOS 5 operating system. They are identical,
apart from the manufacturer of the disk drives.
Kernel is: Linux version 2.6.18-8.1.6.el5

Massive problems with ''PCI-DMA: Out of SW-IOMMU space for XXX bytes [..]'' with 3Ware controller
Hi list,
this days I''ve tried to update a 32bit XEN 3.0.4 system (kernel 2.6.16) to
XEN 3.1.2 on AMD64 (kernel 2.6.18). The system has 2GB RAM and a 3ware
9500-12 SATA raid controller.
The old system worked fine for about half a year now.
The new system boots fine so far but when doing some "bigger" changes to the
filesystem I get a lot of this errors:

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 Report
I had my eye on the Tyan dual-Opteron mobos for awhile. I tried to find
a posting *anywhere* sharing experiences with these boards under Linux.
No such luck. So placing myself under the heading "Where Angles Fear to
Tread," I went ahead and built a system anyway. Here's what I've learned.
The specs:

3Ware 9550SX-4LP Performance
I know there are a few 3Ware fans here and I was hoping to find some help. I
just built a new server using a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP with four disks in raid 5.
The array is fully initialized but I'm not getting the write performance I was
hoping for -- only 40 to 45MB/Sec.
3Ware's site advertises 300MB/Sec writes using 8 disks on the PCI Express
version of this card (the 9580 I think.)

pci sata raid card
Using centos 4.2. Trying to install pci sata raid card, Pacific Digital
QM-4300R10. Raid card box reads that it supports linux. raid software
has rhel 4.0 dd image. I write to floppy and use linux dd to "try"
install drivers on my centos 4.2. I see the card in the list that centos
gives me after loading the drivers, but when I try to use them, it
doesn't do anything. Nothing works.

Server offline :-( please help to repair software RAID
Hello,
since weeks I was ignoring this warning at my CentOS 5.6/64 bit machine -
/etc/cron.weekly/99-raid-check:
WARNING: mismatch_cnt is not 0 on /dev/md0
in the hope that the software RAID will slowly repair itself.
I also had executed "echo 100000 > /proc/sys/dev/raid/speed_limit_max"
on the advice from the mailing list.
But now my web server is offline - I had to boot

SATA vs. SAS
I have 8 WD SATA HDD with raid ready (3mbps) hard disks on a 8 port 3ware
controller.(on raid 5.) Does anyone have a comparison on SATA raid and SAS
raid disk. As you know SAS disk are very expensive and I would like to know
from experts in the list who could suggest which of the following would be
the best.
Option 1) 2 servers each having 2.0TB raid disk with SAS drives, 2GB ram and
