Chroot patch (v3.4p1)
The following is a patch I've been working on to support a "ChrootUser"
option in the sshd_config file.
I was looking for a way to offer sftp access and at the same time restict
interactive shell access. This patch is a necessary first step (IMO).
It applies clean with 'patch -l'.
Also attached is a shell script that helps to build a chrooted home dir on
a RedHat 7.2

Chroot v3.4p1
Greetings!
I am working on a patch that will support a "ChrootUsers" option in the
v3.4p1 config file.
I am wondering if there are already plans to support a chroot option on
the go?
Regards,

[patch] chroot support for openssh-3.5p1
Good Morning All,
Attached is a full patch [or so I hope] enabling chroot support for sshd. I know varied opinions about chroot exist
among the masses; however, I continue to believe that until something far outside the scope of openssh tackles the
sandbox issue, the role of enforcer will continue to be with the daemon.
This patch is based on a previous work by John Furman as well as Eric

I'm trying to put togther a starting list of patches required to get

Tip: using icecast in chroot mode may break timestamp in access.log
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share this little bit of information.
If you're running Icecast in a chroot jail the timestamps in the access.log file will almost certainly be in UTC times. If you want local timezone timestamps you need to make sure the file /etc/localtime is in <chrootdir>/etc/localtime.
If you use a different timezone settings (generated using tzselect for example).

Right now when I log in with test accounts I get this...

Help with file descriptor
Hi all!
I have a problem with CentOS 4.4 and Communigate Pro 5.0.9. As our
user number grows, we are seeing "too many files open" error messages in
Communigate logs.
I spoke with Communigate tech support and they asked me to increase
the number of file descriptors which i did. I put 128000 as a script i
made to check Communigate open files reported as high as 99000.

For users that are in the chrootusers list there homedir becomes / .
Can you please apply this patch?
With kind regards,

samba's characters encoding differs when guest and when by security = user ????
hello everyone
first to say that I'd greatly appreciate any help (smbd v.3.0.25b-2.fc7)
I'm trying to run CommuniGate ver. 4.1.8 on winXP and --Base to
\\some\uncpath
when:
guest ok = yes
guest account = cgpro
security = share
it works fine, but when I change a second later to:
security = user; valid users = cgpro, writeable = yes
it fails giving these errors:

ChrootDirectory on a per key basis
Hello,
I'm trying to set up an sftp (sshfs) service accessible to users with
a normal account on a server, but which would be restricted to a
subset of the directory hierarchy normally accessible to the users in
question, in practice a single directory. The idea would be to allow
file access to this directory with a passwordless public key, but keep
rest of the users file accessible only with

Just to understand what you'd call "free":
Is the client that you use free as well? =)
Imho not, and it's quite annoying to see this trial-reminder...

automatic gain control
the ACG function that the compressor provides is limited at best. its
adjustment is way too audible to make full use of it in balancing levels.
yes, it is last in the chain. i'm just wondering if there's anything out
there in the way of software. if a minidisc recorder can do it, why can't a
$1000 pc?

RELENG_4_8 isos?
I've built RELENG_4 isos no problem, is there a trick to building the
RELENG_4_8 isos? I am building the 'miniinst' disk - that is, with
the release, docs, and a port tree, but no ports. This is so I can do
a fresh install without having to update the world... I am using a
script that looks like this...
#!/bin/sh
rm -rf /usr/obj
cd /usr/src
make -DNOCLEAN world kernel
cd

regexp problem on R 1.7.0
Hi,
Am I missing something in using regexps in R?
Below, 'egrep' means invokation of the command from the shell
prompt.

[1] "1e+06" "2e+06" "5e+06"
# that I wish to convert to: "1" "2" "5"
# OK (R and egrep)
