help anyone?
Hi everybody.
Per http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/rspec-users/2007-November/004572.html,
we''re going to be moving ticket tracking over to lighthouse. We''d like
to get this rolling sooner than later, but we''re fairly well occupied
getting ready for the 1.1 release and writing rspec books :)
We''ve got the lighthouse account set up. The thing we need to do to

plain text stories
Thanks to discussions on this list, suggestions from many of you and a
patch from Pat Maddox, we now have Plain Text User Stories in Story
Runner.

Story Runner: Readability of output with multiple params
Fistly, many, many thanks for RSpec and Story Runner.
Minor request to improve readability of output
Given a scenario item with multiple params..
Eg. And "the user belongs to", "Joe", "Acme" do |user_name, company_name|
The readability of the following output is less than ideal..
"And the user belongs to company,Joe Public, No Videos"

Pretty HTML reporting for stories
Hi all,
I''m just getting to grips with rspec, and I''m trying to put together a
showy demo. We''re trying to use the (plain text) stories feature, rather
than the specs. I''d like to show off a fancy HTML report of the results
if possible.
So it seems I can do this from the spec command line tool, but I can''t
make it work for a story.
I''ve got

How is everyone structuring stories?
Bleeding-edge story-writers,
How are you structuring your specs?
I am working on a new project and tried this:
./lib
./blah
./spec
./blah
./stories
But it breaks autotest, so I moved stories parallel to lib and spec.
Also what about suffixes?
I have adopted "xyz_story_spec.rb", and "xyz.story" for the time
being, with the line

blog post on story runner
Here''s an excellent blog post on Story Runner, which will be part of
the next release and is undergoing active development in trunk:

What''s the status on a rake task for the story runner. If nothing is
in progress, where could I start to try and build one?

Uninitialized constant Spec:Story
Hi, I''m fairly new to Rails and v. new to RSpec. Think it looks pretty
useful and so I''m trying it out for the first time. I have installed the
rspec-rails gem and created a simple plain text my_story file and
my_story.rb file along the lines described here -

Outside-In with RSpec on Rails
I just read ''Mocks Aren''t Stubs'' and was intrigued by the notion of
''outside-in'' TDD.
As a Rails developer, I''m curious if others are employing this method
when developing Rails applications using RSpec. Is it common practice
(or even practical) to drive the development of a Rails app by
starting with view specs, then controller specs, then

Cucumber and multi-line steps
Hi all,
Where can we add tickets for Cucumber? While trying to migrate a
current project I ran into a snag.. specially that cucumber does not
support multi-line steps like the edge rspec story runner (which makes
sense since this was such a new feature to the story runner.) Anyways,
I don''t have enough time at the moment to dig into it myself so I''d like
to at least log it.

Philosophical questions
Disclaimer: The following are observations by a relatively new user
(couple of weeks) of RSpec and not intended as RSpec trollbait.
Also, forgive me if similar topics have been discussed elsewhere on
the mailing list. I at least did the due diligence of a quick search.
That said...
I''ve been positively thrilled with RSpec for use outside of Rails.
It has been in my attempts

align the runner
I saw from the thread "color output" that there is a plan to "align
the runner". Is there a place to see what that means? I am just
curious.

problem with rspec_on_rails and @controller.should_receive(:render) in trunk
Hey guys!
I am using rspec trunk, and I am having a little problem with the
latest version. (I am quite sure this worked with an older version
about a week ago)
heres the spec:
it "should render the new user form without layout for a xhr request" do
@controller.should_receive(:render).with(:layout=>false)
xhr :get,:new
end
and the controller:
def new

should have_tag outside Rails
Hi
Google has not helped me here. I''m looking for a way to use the have_tag
assert_select wrapper outside RSpec on Rails (but in a Rails project) so I
can use it to check text strings.
Has anyone managed this?
Thanks
Ashley

What command to run all stories?
Hi, I''ve been following this thread and I can get the example stories
to run with the ruby command. But I''ve been unable to get the example
from http://blog.davidchelimsky.net/articles/2007/10/25/plain-text-stories-part-iii
to run with all.rb
ruby stories/all.rb

rails story runner returning a nil response code
Has anyone noticed any problems with the Rails story runner returning
a response code of "0" when doing get/post/etc methods? I just
grabbed the latest rails/rspec and just started noticing this problem,

Any news on the rSpec books?
I admit it, when it comes to rSpec, I''m lazy. I''ve made a few feeble
attempts to use it, but for once I''m waiting for a book-length
treatment. At least two books were announced, I think. Can anyone in
the know please report on their progress?
Thanks

Pending Scenarios
Hi there,
newb q: The "pending" support for spec''s and steps is nice. I''m just
wondering why a scenario itself can''t be pending? I.e. it seems to me like
it would be nice to write up scenario titles for scenarios as you think of
them, and for low-priority fringe scenarios leave the steps unwritten until
it comes time to implement the scenario?

I want to make sure that a :list action always returns widgets in
alphabetical order. There''s at least 2 ways of doing this:
it "should fetch items in alphabetical order" do
Widget.should_receive(:find).with(:order => "name ASC")
get :list
end
it "should fetch items in alphabetical order" do

Pretty story output for non-Rails project
I''m taking my first fledgling steps driving a new ruby (non-rails)
project with BDD. I''ve got a (test) story working. However, when I
run the story in TextMate (via command-r), the output is plain text.
See: http://skitch.com/georgeanderson/8grg/run-examples
How do I get the output to look pretty (formatted)?

OS X 10.5.2
TextMate v1.5.7 (1455)
