upgrade from 2.2p1 to 3.Xp1
Hi, at the begining of summer we were planning to upgrade the openssh version up to 3.4, but nowadays we would like to upgrade to 3.7... now we have the same problems we found with the 3.4 version: it seems as 2.2 and 3.X are incompatible versions, or they use incompatible methods to exchange some information that we don't know how to change... we need interoperation during the upgrade

enable sftp subsystem for each authorized key
Hi, I have been looking for info in the mail archive, but I haven't found anything about this: is there any way to select which keys are authorized to use de sftp subsystem and which ones not? It means, if I include the sftp-server subsystem in the sshd configuration file, it is available to everyone, isn't? Thanks in advance for your time! -- Best regards, C?sar

sftp-server questions
Hello, Is there any way to specify which pubkey has rights to use the sftp-server subsytem when this has been set up in the sshd server? I don't know if I could control which users are authorized to use the sftp-server, could I? Is there any official patch that allows sftp-sessions 'chroot'ed? Thanks in advance. -- Best regards, quart mailto:quart at

VERY VERY Strange problem with Samba Printers
Hello :), I have a very strange problem with printers shared via Samba. My configuration: - A Samba 2.2.8 server under Red Hat 8 as PDC - Windows clients 9x/NT/2000/XP All work fine: The clients can log into the pdc, access to its shares and printers... butt.... in some W2k/XP I realized that when a samba printer is configured as the Default PRinter in windows, MS ACCESS 2002 can't open the

Give users Power user access level to local machines.
OK I have searched high and low and have not found anything that works. We are running a software program which requires the user to have Power User access level on the local machine. The machines are Win2K sp3 and they are logging into a ADC which is Red Hat 9 (Shrike) and Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix. I have been able to setup the ADC and all users have "User" level access

Mapping Linux Shares To Windows
Hello, I have managed to install Samba V. 2.5 on a Red Hat Linux 8.0 box and my Windows clients can see the shares and read/write appropriately. How do i map these shares so that they appear as e.g. Drive F: or Drive Z: under Windows Explorer. In a Win2K network , i understand that we have to write logon scripts and use the net command. But this network ( which consists of 1 linux box and 3

Make share appear as drive under My Computer automatically
I am using the latest version of Samba on Debian/GNU Linux. I am running Samba on an old Gateway machine that has very little hard drive space or RAM. (I'm merely trying to configure and get familiar with Samba before putting it on our mail server.) I have successfully gotten Samba to work as a domain controller using roaming profiles. I would like to make a drive in My Computer appear as

Binary distribution needing 'cc'
Hi all, can you help me with a small problem. I've downloaded a binary archive for AIX on an RS6000 because we don't have cc (can you believe it, the bloody c compiler is a chargeable extra!). however, when I try to run a 'make install' all it did was complain that it couldn't find 'cc' and then stopped. What am I doing wrong (apart from using aix instead of Linux)?

adding machines to the domain with Samba 3.0.0
Is there something special I need to do to let root add computers to the domain in 3.0? When I try to add the workstation I get an error about 'user not found' even though I can logon to a workstation joined to the domain as 'root'. I was able to add computers to the domain with 2.2.8 with an 'add user command' entry and 'domain admin group = root' in my

Problems with a PDC
Hello, Perhaps I'm going to ask a stupid question, but it represents a problem for me :'(. My intention is to build a PDC with samba in a lan filled up with Windows clients. I have set up the Samba server and I can "mount" a directory from samba in a letter on a windows machine, such as g: for example. This works fine, but... I can't log in, or validate users, against the

machine accounts
Well I thank everybody that helped me get swat working. I am very thankful. Now, though, it seems I have more problems. When I try to join my samba domain, my XP box says "a domain controller for the domain edith could not be contacted." Okay, well, after reading up on things in this list, it seems that I need to create a machine account. I didn't have to on my NT box. When I
