Could not setup Speed and Duplex on CentOS 5.5
Greetings, I recently installed CentOS 5 on Dell PE 1750 server. I have noticed that the speed and duplex settings are 100 Half Duplex. I tried to change the duplex settings to full, but no success. I got the error message "Cannot get current device settings: Operation not supported". Does anyone else experience this issue?. Below is the error message and some more details about my box.

Pinging win from FreeBSD
Hello Samba folks, I thought you might be able to help me. I have 2 machines, 1 is FreeBSD, 1 is win95. They can't ping each other, but the bsd box comes up in Network Nieghborhood when Samba is active. What's going on? Is it not possible to ping a windows machine from a unix box? They are on the same hub via UTP. IPs are 192.168.1.x and netmasks are same (255.255.255.0).

[PATCH net-next v3 1/3] virtio_net: propagate linkspeed/duplex settings from the hypervisor
The ability to set speed and duplex for virtio_net is useful in various scenarios as described here: 16032be virtio_net: add ethtool support for set and get of settings However, it would be nice to be able to set this from the hypervisor, such that virtio_net doesn't require custom guest ethtool commands. Introduce a new feature flag, VIRTIO_NET_F_SPEED_DUPLEX, which allows the hypervisor

[Bridge] Unexpected behaviour
Hi, I've set up a bridge using the 2.6.11.6 kernel. The machine is running Debian testing with three NICs in it. eth0 is a standard 100Mb Intel NIC, eth1 and eth2 are both Intel gigabit cards using the e1000 driver. I tested everything at 100Mb and it worked fine. I moved the machine into production, eth1 plugging into a dumb 100Mb D-link switch, eth2 plugging into a shiney new Cisco

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ok.. Just for the record, I STAND CORRECTED! The problem does appear to be NT.. The thing that irritated me was that nobody was interested in giving any backup data! Everyone just wanted to blindly admit that it must be NT. Ok.. Enuf bitching.. On to the better stuff... Anyway, David Mansfield and I are trying to narrow down the machine configurations where this happens.. Currently, we've

XCP 1.0 beta Realtek 8168 nic not working
I''m trying to build out a test cloud using XCP 1.0.0 beta with 3 machines of 18 cores total (Phenom II 1090s). I''ve built three machines, installed XCP 1.0.0 beta on them and they all three have the same problem - the Realtek network cards don''t work. The following is the output from lspci 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI

[PATCH net-next] virtio_net: add ethtool support for set and get of settings
From: Nikolay Aleksandrov <nikolay at cumulusnetworks.com> This patch allows the user to set and retrieve speed and duplex of the virtio_net device via ethtool. Having this functionality is very helpful for simulating different environments and also enables the virtio_net device to participate in operations where proper speed and duplex are required (e.g. currently bonding lacp mode
