I pressed <enter> as empty for both the filename identity and passphrase
then sent the public key to A under .ssh and saved as authorized_keys
(the first time I sent the key I got message: The authenticity of host
'hostname (host ip)' can't be established)
Now if I run scp from B to A, I ALWAYS get password (of the A host)
prompted! Which I don't want.

sftp/scp only without real users
Hi,
my goal: sftp/scp only access, without the need for linux users.
I want to provide 10 sftp/scp directories to 10 people. Let's call this
"virtual account"
I don't want to create linux users for each of them.
I would like to create one linux user (backup_user). In his
home-directory will be 10 directories. For each "virtual account" one
directory.

Can anyone give me a clue? I have two identical Slackware 7.1 systems
and have installed openssh-3.2.3p1 on both systems.... Once system is
fine... everything is working without problem.... the other system
everything works only when you are logged in as root... Here's what you

ssh to target, scp back to source in same session without name resolution
Dear OpenSSH-Team,
First, thanks a lot for your efforts on OpenSSH, great job!
I have a wish:
I'd like to be able to connect from my source to a target via ssh,
do some stuff on the target,
and then copy back some files to the source,
all within the same session and without name resolution.
"Problem":
I'm behind a firewall with my source host,
I don't know the name or

scp without permitting shell access, possible?
[My apologies if this question is deemed inappropriate for this list.]
Using OpenSSH, is it possible for a program/script to copy files with known
filenames from a remote server (running sshd), without allowing (interactive)
ssh access to that server? I.e. ``ssh server ls'' or ``ssh server'' should not
be possible (for security reasons), but ``scp server:file .'' should.
