compaq r4000 /proc/cpuinfo reports 997 and should be 2400
Hi I have a compaq R4000 with the 2.4GIG AMD 64 bit. 4000+ rated. proc cpuinfo reports cpu Mhz as 997.481 Do I have to run the 64 bit version to have things run correctly? I just have the normal 4.2 loaded at this time. The laptop seems slow for 4000+ as reflected by the cpu Mhz also. Any thoughts on running the 32 bit version of 4.2 vs the 64 bit version of 4.2? Jerry

compaq v2000 working with correct boot options and compaq r4000 still SLOWWW
Hi, I have a v2000 compaq laptop. The realtek network and USB on this machine was not working. After adding to grub.conf "acpi=off apci=off noacpi noapic" the v2000 realtek started working and the USB worked fine... Fantastic! So I thought I would try those same options on my r4000 laptop. they had no effect.... This AMD turion 64 4000+ rating laptop is still running SLOWWW...

compaq r4000 32 bit and 64 bit install
Gents, I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2, after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same. going VERY slow... The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time (3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG). While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and could not keep up. Anyway just reporting that so far

compaq R4000 update (hogging interrupts)
After a couple hours last night.... doing a "killall -SIGUSR1 cpuspeed" bumps up the /proc/cpuinfo information for cpu mhz to 2393 Mhz. I did notice a little increase after that. However, the machine is still sluggish. I did a "hdparm -c 1 /dev/hda" but really did not notice any difference. I tried to download fglrx64_6_8_0_8.16.20-1.x86_64.rpm from ati (also 8.20.8) and get

Chris, I have a compaq AMD r4000 x86_64. grabbing the latest kernel and compiling it fixed my clock skew. I have not had any slow disk issues. again the kernel may help doing the command: killall -SIGUSR1 cpuspeed makes the CPU run faster. Hope that helps. Hello, I'm trying to use rpcclient to add a driver to a Samba 3.0.25 running on Gentoo. When I run the script below, rpcclient prints out the same message as if "--help" was submitted as the only switch. #!/bin/bash -x RPC="/usr/local/samba/bin/rpcclient" ARCH='Windows NT R4000' #ARCH='Windows NT x86' DRIVER='HP LaserJet 4Si/4Si MX

SMP + Compaq 2DH Array Controller cause freeze in boot
Good day all, I've recently added a new piece of hardware to my collection - it's a Compaq Proliant 1600R with a Smart Array 2DH controller and dual processors. Unfortunately these features don't seem to play well together. Installing FreeBSD 4.8 was very smooth. After doing a CVSup, one of my first tasks was to compile a new kernel with SMP support. The compile went fine, but when I

Compaq T700
