key_verify failed for server_host_key from Solaris 2.7 to non-Solaris hosts
Hi,
I am using OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 on Solaris 2.7 (Ultra 10) with 64bit support and
have the following problem when connecting with the ssh2 protocol to
non-solaris OS:
On the client side, I do:

SSH/SSL Help...
Hello Everybody,
I am porting SSH to the AS400 and am having some
problems in the linking stage. There are some SSL
components that have function prototypes defined but
no function definitions for the prototypes. Functions
like PBEPARAM_free from the file p5_pbe.c and
DSA_SIG_free from the file dsa_asn1.c. I have noticed
that these functions are both prototyped and defined
in the 0.9.6k version

Solaris 8: RSA_padding_check_PKCS1_type_1:block type is not 01
Hi,
I have a returning problem with one of my sparc Solaris machines. I have a
Ultra2 with two 296MHz processors. All recent combinations of
openssh/openssl have a not permanent problem. If i try to connect to the
machine, i get sometimes these errors:
# ssh root at simba
RSA_public_decrypt failed: error:0407006A:rsa

zaptel/ssh interaction
I hope I don't get flamed the first time I post to a new list. I have
spent a couple of hours poking around without seeing anything like this.
The problem is, as soon as I load the Zaptel drivers (with a TDM-31B
card), ssh into or out of the server is broken. Trying to ssh in, I get:
RSA_public_decrypt failed: error:0407006A:rsa
routines:RSA_padding_check_PKCS1_type_1:block type is not 01

help improving relevance of snippets displayed by Omega
Whoops, forgot to say, as Olly said, much of that could probably now be
simplified with Xapian's snippet() function, which I can only assume did
not exist back when all this was written! :)

touch.exe problem with 2.0.6
We've had some trouble with the known problem with the Windows
touch.exe problem - it has no effect on a file on a system running
Samba 2.0.6. This has been reported previously with the MKS touch.exe,
and I have observed it with the Gnu touch.exe as well. Also, we
have some NT software which sets file dates using the Windows
SetFileTime() call, which is possibly what the MKS touch.exe uses,

Tables & Databinding
Hiya,
I''ve recently been looking at removing the dependency in our CRM/CMS
on MSIE XML Databinding so that it''ll run properly in Firefox..
The solution I''ve created uses the prototype.js lib so I thought I
might share my efforts here if that''s ok? It''s still _very_ early
days but there''s the beginnings of a writeup here:

Finding out about objects and classes
When R help simply states something like:
Value:
An object of class '"loess"'.
How do I find out more about that class? Shouldn't there be a link in
the help file or something?

PermitRootLogin=forced-commands-only does not work with UsePrivilegeSeparation=yes
Using openssh-3.4p1 on Linux I noticed that PermitRootLogin=forced-commands-only
does not work if UsePrivilegeSeparation is enabled; but it does work if privsep
is disabled.
Here are excerpts of debug from the server.

Openssh-2.5.1p1 and Solaris 2.6 problem with ssh_rsa_verify
We recently upgraded from an older version of SSH to OpenSSH
2.5.1p1 (OpenSSH_2.5.1p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090600f)
and are having problems on just a few hosts in our environment. The
other 200 systems are working fine. Every once in a blue-moon it will
connect with version 2.
When I try to connect to or from one of these hosts using SSH2 I

SSH_RSA_MINIMUM_MODULUS_SIZE
Hi,
is there any chance to make SSH_RSA_MINIMUM_MODULUS_SIZE configurable?
I keep receiving these messages:
ssh_rsa_verify: RSA modulus too small: 512 < minimum 768 bits
key_verify failed for server_host_key
And it's quite a hassle to recompile each time I need to use it (there
are still devices where you can't fix it easily).
Thanks

Key fingerprint logging
Hello there!
I have made a patch against OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 which allows the fingerprint of
the accepted key to be printed in the log message. It works with SSH1-RSA and
SSH2 pubkey (DSA+RSA) authentication.
This feature is controllable by the LogKeyFingerprint config option (turned
off by default).

sftp authentication failure only as cronjob
Hi all,
I have a problem using sftp which I cannot get solved even after
searching all over the web, so maybe one of you has a useful hint:
I want to run a simple script that puts a file on a server using sftp.
Keys are setup correctly, everything works fine if I run the script from
within a terminal. When I run the same script from the crontab (my
personal crontab as user) the script runs fine

constrOptim workaround for "L-BFGS-B" or Box Constraints
This is not so much a question as a contribution, but comments are welcome.
Comments:
1) thank you very much to Paul Smith in the post
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2008-March/157249.html
This is intended to build on that example with something more complex
than
a 2x2 set of constraints
2) "L-BFGS-B" does not appear to work in optimConst

I'm having trouble joining a Samba 2.2.7a server running on RH9 into a
domain that is being served by a Windows 2003 server running AD in mixed

however, when running smbclient -L localhost I get the following error:

help improving relevance of snippets displayed by Omega
Hi,
Ha, I was reading this thread thinking TheyWorkForYou (which I help
maintain) does highlight terms wherever they are, and then you mentioned it
:)
The code is open source; it is quite old and probably hair-raising, but as
you say it does basically do what you want.
Our Xapian database stores terms/boolean terms/values for the text, and for
the document itself stores only an identifier.
It
