SOCKS server other than ss5?
Anyone here using a SOCKS server? I'm using ss5 but there seems to be a
strange disconnect issue with it and openvpn. While I'm trying to figure
out whether ss5 is at fault, or openvpn, I'd like to try a different
SOCKS server. Could you recommend one that works well on CentOS?
Thanks.

{R} 1.4.0 compiling failed on sun sparc solaris 2.6
Hi!
I tried to configure and compile R 1.4.0 on a
sun sparc solaris 2.6 box using the sun compiler (workshop 6?);
but:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(mt100): ./configure --x-includes=/usr/openwin/include --x-libraries=/usr/openwin/lib --with-f77
[...]
R is now configured for sparc-sun-solaris2.6

Outgoing IP of forwarded requests
I have a linux server with 3 public IPs, and I use SSH tunnelling to connect to each of them.
Let's call them: 1.1.1.1 (venet0:0), 1.1.1.2 (venet0:1), 1.1.1.3 (venet0:2).
When I tunnel using 1.1.1.1, outgoing IP for the public is: 1.1.1.1.
But when I tunnel using 1.1.1.2 or 1.1.1.3, the outgoing IP for the public is still 1.1.1.1.
I've been googling for days, and tried relevant channels

sunos 4.1.4 Makefile and regex.[ch] fix
Hi,
At the office, there is an old ss5 box running sunos 4.1.4.
I have configured openssh using gcc on this machine.
In doing so, I found a few compilation and configuration problems.
1. Compilation Problem.
SunOS 4.1.4 doesn't have regex.h header nor the entry points regex.c
is supposed to offer.
Solution.
Copy regex.c and regex.h from, say, GNU awk distribution to
the openssh directory

Precision in R
Hi,
Why sum() on a 10-item vector produces a different value than its
counterpart on a 2-item vector? I understand the problems related to
the arithmetic precision in storing decimal numbers in binary format,
but shouldn't the errors be equal regardless of the method used?
See my example:
> options(digits=22)
> x=rep(.1,10)
> x
[1] 0.10000000000000001 0.10000000000000001

Various platforms
Hello,
I've been compiling OpenSSH up on just about every platform that I can
get my hands on. I am not certain of the best way of building my
'fixes' into the source tree, not least of all since I didn't worry about
#ifdef's or the configure scripts. However hopefully this will be of use
to you. This is all for openssh-2.2.0p1 compiled alongside
openssl-0.9.5a and

Net Join Samba 4 to Samba 3 PDC?
Hi,
I have a retro LAN running things like Sun SPARCclassics, Ultra1s, Win98
and WinXP. I decided to standardize most of the Sun boxes on the latest
versions of OpenBSD that support their architectures (5.9 for Sun4c &
Sun4m, 7.4 for Sun4u). I have a Debian 7 server with RAIDs to store all the
packages, configs, games, etc. I like to use Samba to transfer the files
back and forth between the

socks5 server software?
What is the state of the art for socks5 server software? I need to
replace a very old proxy system. 'Yum search' and google aren't
turning up any clear winners unless '3proxy' is the thing you would
run on CentOS7.

Nis homedirs
Greetings,
I'm using 2.0.0-alpha13 on Solaris (compiling with gcc 2.8.1 on Solaris
2.5, running on 2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.6). I see this in the smb.conf.5
man page:

systems that use an automounter, the user's home directory
will often be mounted on a workstation on demand from a

OpenSSH build failure on NetBSD 1.5.2
Hi All.
The recent setproctitle changes don't seem to work on NetBSD. Some of
the variables are still used when the definitions are #ifdef'ed out.
Attached patch fixes it, but I'm not sure it does it the right way.

OpenSSH 3.1p1 compile problem under NetBSD 1.5.2
Hi gurus,
I got a problem compiling openssh 3.1p1 (portable version) under NetBSD
1.5.2. on an alpha machine.
The problem occurs in cipher.c, where gcc complains about something that
looks like openssl symbols... As I'm quite new to the BSD architecture, I
don't really know how to fix it.
Attached file are: my make log file, and the (gzipped) config.log file.
Note that I've

Question about SS7
Hi,
I have read about SS7 recently and learnt that it is a signalling protocol
used in PSTN for call management, setup, etc. The thing that I don't
understand is how SS7 plays a role in VOIP. When I make calls between
landline and Asterisk via PSTN, I don't need to do anything with SS7. Is it
because the SS7 signalling is already done by Asterisk already? From the
prespective of

[Request for review] [RFC] Add label support for snapshots and subvols
From: Anand Jain <anand.jain@oracle.com>
(This patch is for the review/test not yet for the integration).
Here is an implementation of the feature to add label to the
subvolume and snapshots. Which would help sysadmin to better manager
the subvol and snapshots.
This can be done in two ways, one - using attr which is user land
only changes but drawback is able to change the label
