a-gnome-oyences
Most of my users are on kde, as am I (I really don't like gnome). I've got
one on gnome, though, CentOS 6.4, and I have a problem: I have to start an
agent running ->on login<-, so that the same one is in the environment of
every term window he opens. In kde, no problem, I modify
/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc-common so that code in there calls our (newer)
ssh-agent instead of the stock one.

VNC vs GNOME desktop
I'm trying to use VNC to connect my home Centos box (up to date centos 5)
to my Centos 4 (also up to date) at work. I have no problem connecting.
The problem occurs after logging in, for every applet in the bottom Gnome
panel I get an error box from which I can choose to remove the applet
from the panel, or just go on. I choose to not delete but to just go on.
After I get a half dozen or so of

Sluggish X session with Cygwin/X and gnome desktop
Hello,
I just installed CentOS 4.4 and when I connect to it from my XP machine
using Cygwin/X and the gnome desktop I've noticed that after a couple of
minutes it slows to a crawl (menus and dialog boxes don't display
immediately when I click on them). Accessing the X session from the console
does not exhibit this behavior. Just recently, instead of going with the
default gnome

Mac OS X Keychain Support
Hello,
I'm a Mac OS X user, and I got tired of typing my password every time I
want to login, but didn't want to use ssh-agent and the like. So, I
grabbed the code for OpenSSH 3.7p1, and made some modifications which
allow passwords to be stored and recalled from the OS X Keychain. The
reason I'm posting to this list is that I'd like to make these
modifications available to

Keychain Patch Try II
Sorry; here's the message I sent with the Keychain Patch yesterday. I
didn't realize that the list wouldn't extract the text parts of the
message. Enjoy.
Hey all,
Here's the patch to let SSH store passwords in the Mac OS X Keychain.
I don't know whether you guys want to include it or not with the
distribution; some people have said that since Keychain is not an open

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive [SOLVED]
On the system I'm testing with the CD-Rom drive is IDE but the softlink
at /dev/cdrom points to the scsi device and that's not working with the
automounter for some reason. Each time I reinstall I have to delete the
soft link and recreate it pointing at /dev/hda instead.

VNCServer Startup Config
hi all,
I've inherited a server with CentOS 6.4
the VNC Server starts up with the OS and its screen resolution is set to
800x600.
I found that I can set the resolution by specifying the -geometry
switch, but I can't find where the call to start the vncserver is set in
order to change it.
I know that it's not in /etc/xinetd.d (the only file there is rsync)

keychain problem
hello centos.. I am having a very annoying problem on my network right
now. it looks like every time I try to add my ssh key to keychain I
have to issue a command just to get my ssh subsystem communicating
with the ssh-agent:
I have this line in my .bashrc file
$(keychain --eval --quick --quiet private_key1 private_key2 private_key3)
If I try to perform ssh-add I get the message:

Installing a gnome-desktop on CENTOS-6.3 following minimal system install.
I am still trying without much success to get a desktop on my minimal
+ virtualization install of a CentOS-6.3 kvm host. When I run startx
I get a desktop but other than the icons for computer, home and trash
there is nothing displayed. I can right click the mouse and from
there I can open a terminal window and creat a folder on the desktop
but I have no title bar and no status bar. There are

trouble installing Math::BigInt module
I had to move a perl script from an old server to a new one. Both the
old and new servers are running "CentOS release 5.10 (Final)" and perl
v5.8.8. (But the problem I'm running into appears to be a package
management problem and not a Perl problem which is why I'm posting it to
a CentOS list.)
The line of code in the script that attempts to open a Net::SFTP
connection,

Using perl-Net-SSH-Perl with pubkey authentication under CGI.
Guys, I wonder if anyone can give me any pointers here, I hope it's
CentOS related enough not to be too off topic, if it is then
apologies.
I'm attempting to setup a CGI which can connect to a remote system and
execute a command.
On the 'client', for the Apache user 'apache' I've given it a shell
and generated a key-pair. I've configured Keychain [

I have updated one of my S4 DCs to 4.5.5, somewhat excited about the

Do I misunderstand the scope of this bug?

[GSOC] Create a checker for dangling string pointers in C++
Hello Developer Team,
My name is Rustam Khadipash, I am a forth year student in Computer Science
at Pusan National University. This summer I would like to contribute to
your project, however I do not have experience in contributing to open
source societies so far. Therefore, I would like to start with not a
difficult, in my opinion, project as "a checker for dangling string
