Using openssh 3.1p1 on Solaris with tcp wrappers?
Dear OpenSSH Developers,
Thanks for all the great work on this important tool. We've built
version 3.1p1 on
SAPTC platforms under Solaris 2.8 using gcc 2.95.2. Several quick
notes and a
question:
1) There are several discrepancies between the INSTALL file on the
openssh web
site ftp://ftp.ca.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/INSTALL
and the output from "./configure

OpenSSH_4.3p1 configure patch
Here is a patch to configure, & configure.ac that should
solve the problems people are having with 4.3p1.
Thanks to Corina for finding the simple solution.

I don't understand the problem here: CPPFLAGS gets updated for each directory on
the list with either -Idirectory or -Idirectory/include (if it exists).

configure changes
I finally got around to looking at a bunch of patchs to configure.in, some
of them from back in March. One from Carson Gaspar <carson at taltos.org> looked
promissing at first glance but after many hours I just couldn't get it to
work.
Due to much demand, I have added optional PATH to --with-pcre,
--with-zlib, and --with-tcp-wrappers.
I have done extensive testin on --with-zlib, and

Cannot run OpenSSH 3.1p1 on Solaris 8, Irix 6.5.14, Irix 6.5.4, SunOS 4.1.3_U1 - ssh-rand-helper child produced insufficient data
I have successfully compiled OpenSSH 3.1p1 for the following systems:
Solaris 8
Solaris 7
Irix 6.5.14
Irix 6.5.4
SunOS 4.1.3_U1
Unfortunately, the new sshd is not working on any of the above systems
with the exception of Solaris 7. (I then put the Solaris 7 executables
on Solaris 8, and they worked there too.)
This is the error I'm getting:
$ /usr/etc/sshd -D -d -d -d

openssh 3.1p1 linking problem
It's recommended that recent versions of openssl be built only as static
libraries because the ABIs are not yet stable (esp. the `engine'
component). However, the library still uses dlopen.
Linking openssh will therefore fail unless linking against -ldl explicitly
along with -lcrypto. It should be harmless to do so when linking
dynamically.
Also, it would be useful if the configure

openssh-3.1p1, buildpkg.sh on Solaris 8
Hello.
First I would like to thank you for making building the OpenSSH package
so easy on Solaris 8. I wish it was so easy with all open source
software.
For your information, I just build and packaged OpenSSH-3.1p1 on my
Ultra 5 workstation with the following packages:
system SUNWadmr System & Network Administration Root
system SUNWarc Archive Libraries

While the changes to m4/nut_check_libssl.m4 have improved detection
of OpenSSL on Solaris, it breaks on platforms that did not have
pkg-config from the vendor.

Problems with Solaris 8 and OpenSSH 3.1p1
When compiling the software it breaks with an error on the cipher.c file.
Lot's of warnings and error of undeclared stuff.
Snippet follows:
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I.

[Patch] Improve diags for "OpenSSL headers match library" configure test
Hello All,
After seeing what is probably the zillionth "OpenSSL headers don't
match library" bug report I made the following mod to configure.ac. It
always writes the versions of the library and headers to config.log and
prints them to stdout if they don't match.
Hopefully this will help diagnose these problems in future. Example
output below.
-Daz.
$ ./configure

impedence mismatch between openssh 3.4p1 and openssl 0.9.6d on SCO OpenServer 3.2 5.0.6
Hi, I have been trying to build openssh 3.4p1 on SCO Open Server xxx
It requires the libcrypto.a library produced by OpenSSL.
So, I downloaded and installed OpenSSL 0.9.6d.
As part of the configure process for OpenSSH, 'configure' checks for
version of libcrypto.a with RAND_add().
RAND_add is defined in rand_lib.c and during the build of OpenSSH, I
can see that rand_lib.c is compiled
