Some X11 programs don't work on connection from SSH Secure Shell
Well this is weird... when I connect via SSH Secure Shell PC client 3.0.0, the server hangs and the client sees a disconnect as soon as the user activates certain X programs. But not all of them! For instance, xeyes and xlogo are fine... but emacs and xterm are not. This is 3.0.2p1 on Solaris 2.5.1. When the client runs xterm the output of sshd -d -d -d is: debug1: X11 connection

SSH client, dup, pty.
Hey, I am hoping that some one on this list may be able to help me. I started investigate the possibility of forking a process, the child then attach to a pty, dup std[in|out] to the pty, then exec the ssh client. For some reason, the ssh client still prompted straight to stdin and stdout rather than through the pty that I created. There seem to be a few issues with this. Can someone tell

Two minor build system patches.
Hi all, I ran into a few problems building R 3.3.1 and came up wth the attached patches (fingers crossed they don't get stripped, I've also sent this email to Jeroen since that worked last time). Would it be possible to review and merge them if they are OK? The first one uses AC_SEARCH_LIBS instead of AC_CHECK_LIB, looking for ncursesw before ncurses since ncurses is usually build with

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
Greetings, I have accounts on two Centos servers, A and B, each hosted on a remote VPS by a different provider/datacenter. Until yesterday night, I could connect without problems via SSH to both servers from my home Fedora 16 desktop. Yesterday I completed (fingers crossed) the switch to a different ADSL provider. From the moment I turned on the modem on the new ADSL line, I became unable to

Solaris 7 changing password via PAM
Hi, I am having a problem with the issue of changing the password for an expired user (passed -f <user>). The version of Openssh is 2.9.9p3 compiled with gcc 2.95.3, configured --with-pam. The user can login fine when the password is not expired. Once the password is expired the user is connected and told the password has expired and is asked to change it. The user is prompted for the old

Upgrading from 1.2.x -> 2.2.x in one step possible
Hi, after some off-ML discussions to and some reconsiderations, we might do the "big jump" from our current 1.2.17 to the atrpms 2.2. From googling and reading the dovecot upgrade wiki I don't see any (big) pitfalls. Basically we use the default config options, mbox, pop3s/imaps on RH EL 5. So "just" run the upgrade-config script, fingers crossed and thats it? Ii it

feature - VM gain adjust?
I'm toying with adding a feature request to provide some sort of gain setting for voicemail when accessed from "certain" interfaces. Maybe something like voicemail=6.0 (db) within a specific channel section of zapata.conf corresponding to a pstn line. Situation: 1. Someone calls into asterisk and leaves a voicemail. The sound is recorded at some volume well below 0 db, and is

I hope I've fixed this properly just now in http://llvm.org/viewvc/llvm-project?view=revision&revision=271274. Fingers crossed that the bots will come back now... Getting lowest latency sound?
I have been trying to get lowest-latency sound (with highest fidelity) to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have Jaunty and the latest RT kernel, which I know has problems for many applications but works fine to run DNS. (It will not, however, install the program nor train it.) I set up real-time audio access as follows: sudo su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >>

bug with rsh/ssh connections
(Using rc7 code) There seems to be a bug in rsh/ssh-style connections. For reference, on a normal imap connection (port 143, 993, etc.) things are OK. The imap session ends (from a client-end command "a logout") thus: --- a logout * BYE Logging out a OK Logout completed. Connection closed by foreign host. unix-prompt% --- But when the connection had been established using rsh or ssh

G729 'disappears' randomly
All, I have around 10 opteron 165 servers all running Fedora Core 5 and Asterisk 1.2.x (mostly Asterisk 1.2.16) with 15-25 channels of g729 each. They register without any problem but I had to use the codec_g729.so corresponding to the i386 version in all of them (asterisk would not start if i tried the opteron specific one). The problem: In one of the servers, we seem to lose the registration

backgroundrb fails when running as win32 service
Hi, I''ve been playing with backgroundrb to batch process a bunch of images on a rails server. The process is working fine when backgroundrb is started from the command line, but seems to choke occasionally (well, quite often) when running as a service. It seems to get stuck on the following line when moving files: FileUtils.move(src, dest, :verbose => true) with the error: Bad

A recently added user can't check his mails any more. strategy for doing an ANOVA on unbalanced data
Hi, I would like some help deciding if and how to average my data before running an ANOVA. Let me first describe the data and what makes it unique. Hopefully, that will generate some ideas because I am not sure what kind of model I need to use. I don't know how to describe this succinctly, so please bear with me. This is my last analysis for my dissertation and I really could use some help.
