openssl w/ rsaref openssh won't configure
I have openssl-0.9.5a and openssh-2.1.0. I configured ssl with rsaref
and it passes the tests. When I configure ssh I get:
----
checking for OpenSSL directory... configure: error: Could not find
working SSLeay / OpenSSL libraries, please install
----
it is failing RSA_private_decrypt function call. The RSA_generate_key
seems to work (does not return null) but then goes on to fail at

ssh1 keyexchange problem ?
Hi,
Has anybody produced diffs for openssh-2.3.0p1 for the rsa keyexchange
problem that Core-SDI described ? ( I noticed that fix is already
in openbsd tree ).

configure.in reorder patch
Feb 12 CVS (sort of, see warning below)
I've had to change around some of the code in configure.in
to get some platforms to compile with the --with-tcp-wrappers option.
Basicly I have set it up to
check headers
check system libraries
check for optional packages
check functions
I have also tried to clean up the library order as it is important
on some platforms.
This patch works on
Solaris

openssh 2.1.0p3 w/ rsaref
Looks like the fixes to use OpenSSL with RSAnull break it for rsaref. I've
attached a patch that fixes it for me.
Cheers,
Nalin

Weird problems on solaris 7 & 8
I'm seeing some extremely odd behavior with solaris. I have a suspicion
it's me, but here's the story and maybe someone can suggest an avenue of
investigation. This seems to be happening with any release of openssh
since at least 2.5.2p1.
1) Problem #1: If SSH protocol 1 is enabled then sshd segfaults right
off. This turns out to be because the call to arc4random_stir is

[2.2.0p1] patch: generic detection of correct getpgrp() invocation
Hi.
Several OSes have a getpgrp() function that takes an argument, unlike
what POSIX mandates. NeXT was covered, but SunOS wasn't. This
provides a generic solution through autoconf.

OpenSSH 2.1.0+OpenSSL 0.9.5a+RSAref 2.0 trouble
Hello.
I have been having trouble configuring the source code for the
abovementioned. I have to use RSARef as I'm a resident of the USA, so I
can avoid patent violation.
The configure script fails to see the OpenSSL+RSAref mix on three
different platforms, including the following:
FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE (Which has its own port, but I wanted to try it there
to see if I could reliably reproduce

ssh hangs or gives Segmentation fault
Details of installation attached.
Effect: when I build and test (with full path names) ssh in the openssh...
directory, everything works fine. When I "install" it as per attached file
into a test-directory and run it from there, there are 2 phenomena:
either it just hangs, eating 96% of CPU
or it dies with a Segmentation fault (this is what happens most often)

opensc smartcard support does not work
Hi,
sorry, I'm not on the list, so please answer directly.
I use opensc-0.7.0 and pcsc-lite-1.1.1 under FreeBSD 4.6
with Gemplus 410 and 430 smartcard readers and Schlumberger
cryptoflex smartcards.
I used openssh-3.2.2p1 but the relevant file scard-opensc.c
is unchanged in 3.4.
RSA authentication to a remote host running opensshd
did not work with the smartcard.

[PATCH]: RHL72 --with-skey linking problems
Hi,
On Red Hat Linux 7.2, it appears one cannot compile with --with-skey;
configure fails with:
checking for skey_keyinfo... no
configure: error: ** Incomplete or missing s/key libraries.
even though skey 1.1.5 libraries are installed from the location mentioned
in INSTALL.
This has also happened with Solaris it seems:

openssh-1.2.2 with openssl-0.9.5 rsa problem
Hello...
to openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org
cc djm at ibs.com.au
devel platform: linux intel redhat 6.2beta
http://violet.ibs.com.au/openssh/files/openssh-1.2.2.tar.gz from rpm at
same.
I am NOT subscribed to the openssh-unix-dev list.
I ran into a problem using openssh-1.2.2 with openssl-0.9.5. With
openssl 0.9.5 you can now compile shared libraries without idea, rc5 and
rsa.

Why do I *still* need RSA?
OpenSSH Developers,
I'm researching whether or not OpenSSH is a viable commercial
alternative to F-SECURE SSH or SSH.COM's ssh, but I'm not getting the
kind of results that I expected from a "Non patent encumbered ssh
client".
When I attempt to build OpenSSH against an OpenSSL build without rc5,
idea, or rsa it bombs since OpenSSL doesn't place the header files in

Problem with sftp-server on Tru64 (long long type and %ll)
The ls_file function in sftp-server.c calls snprintf with "%8llu" as
part of the format string and a "unsigned long long" type argument.
The "%ll" format is not a valid format on Tru64 (at least 4.0F).
Apparently it can confuse snprintf as well - sftp-server will segfault
and core dump if the user types "ls".
This isn't really a needed format string on
