openssh 5.2p1 fails to build on IRIX 5.3
Hello, I ran into a few problems when trying to build openssh 5.2p1 on IRIX 5.3. First one is new to 5.2p1: cc -I. -I. -I/usr/tgcware/include/openssl -I/usr/tgcware/include -DSSHDIR=\"/usr/tgcware/etc/ssh\" -D_PATH_SSH_PROGRAM=\"/usr/tgcware/bin/ssh\" -D_PATH_SSH_ASKPASS_DEFAULT=\"/usr/tgcware/libexec/ssh-askpass\"

Patch for UnixWare 7
Hi, I have ported OpenSSH-4.0p1 to UnixWare 7.1.4. Can you please add the following for UnixWare 7 in the configure script: Description: + cross compiler produces i386a.out. + libcrypt which needs to come after openssl's libcrypto. + passwd needs user name. Thanks, Ahsan Rashid --- openssh-4.0p1/configure Tue Mar 8 23:54:16 2005 +++ dist/configure Thu Apr 14 17:09:54 2005 @@ -1728,7

[patch] openssh 3.0.2p1: Libwrap gets linked in unnecessarily
Hello, There is a small but annoying problem with linking libwrap in openssh. The library is added to LIBS which makes it be linked in to all binaries. This is unnecessary and leads to bogus dependencies if libwrap is a shared library. Following is a trivial fix that reserves a separate autoconf substitution variable LIBWRAP, which is only used for sshd. Please apply. Maciej -- +

openssh-2.9.9p2, AC_SYS_LARGEFILE, SCO, and HPUX
openssh-2.9.9p2/configure.in says: # Disabled until it works on SCO and HPUX #AC_SYS_LARGEFILE As an autoconf maintainer I'd like to fix this. Can you please explain what's broken on SCO and HPUX? I'm puzzled by the comment, as AC_SYS_LARGEFILE is a feature introduced in autoconf 2.50, whereas openssh-2.9.9p2/configure was built with autoconf 2.13. Anyway, some older GNU

openssh 4.3p2 configure problem
In configure for openssh 4.3p2 is this: as_executable_p="test -f" as_executable_p, as the name suggests, is used to test whether a file is executable or not, so should use -x and not -f. Discovered after doing chmod a-x gcc so configure would not discover it, but found it anyway. -- Roger Cornelius rac at tenzing.org

ssh not resolving host names on HP-UX 11i
Actually it really never was answered, but here's how I fixed (worked around) it. At first I thought installing patch PHNE_27796 (libnss_dns DNS backend patch) had fixed it. It didn't. It just flip-flopped the problem. Prior to installing that patch, ssh would never go to DNS no matter what was in nsswitch.conf. It appeared to only look in /etc/hosts. After installing the patch, ssh

./configure missing in _portable_ openssh?
Just went and cvs co'd portable openssh as described on the website. However, there's no configure there. nor there's a build.conf script of some sort to rebuild it. When I manually did autoconf configure.ac > configuire, I got something, but it couldn't find config.h.in when running. An attempt to run automake said that aclocal.m4 is obsolete and I need to rerun aclocal, but

problem with bindings configure script
James, That worked, thanks, but with a caveat. I don't know if this is a limitation of autoconf/configure, but jni.h wants to include jni_md.h, which is located in JNI_INCLUDE_DIR/win32, which is not automatically searched. I was able to work around this by moving jni_md.h from the win32 sub directory to the same directory as jni.h. No idea who's bug this is, if it is legitimately a bug,

problem with bindings configure script
All, I'm trying to compile xapian core and bindings under cygwin. I have no issues running the configure script and then compiling core, but bindings is giving me some issues. I'm running the configure script for bindings as follows: in xapian-bindings-1.4.0 directory. ./configure XAPIAN_CONFIG=/home/John/xapian-core-1.4.0 --with-java and had two issues. The first I solved by doing

openssh on NeXTstep
Hi all, I've been running OpenSSH portable on NeXTstep 3.3 since version 2.5.something with no/little problems. 3.7.1p1 still compiles fine but sshd hangs at startup. I've tried to debug it but when stepping through sshd using gdb it segfaults in mysignal in bsd-misc.c instead of hanging. Before I dig any deeper into this I'd like to know if there's anybody else running

Ported OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 to Dynix
Hello Porters, I've finally (thanks to Wendy Palm of Cray) ported OpenSSH to Dynix v4.4.4. I had to make sure that "UseLogin" was set to "no" in the sshd_config file. Also, here are the old-style contextual diffs (obtained with 'diff -c' on the Dynix box) of the two files I had to change: *** configure Sat Jun 16 17:09:50 2001 --- configure.new Mon Oct 8

impedence mismatch between openssh 3.4p1 and openssl 0.9.6d on SCO OpenServer 3.2 5.0.6
Hi, I have been trying to build openssh 3.4p1 on SCO Open Server xxx It requires the libcrypto.a library produced by OpenSSL. So, I downloaded and installed OpenSSL 0.9.6d. As part of the configure process for OpenSSH, 'configure' checks for version of libcrypto.a with RAND_add(). RAND_add is defined in rand_lib.c and during the build of OpenSSH, I can see that rand_lib.c is compiled

No "ssh -X hostname" doesn't work. But when you "export DISPLAY=..." it works!? Sorry I forgot to mention I didn't make any changes to the configure script. The problem is that I can't test these things since I'm not on a Unix platform, and I'm not even using the
