Local software flow control
Good day time! Using openssh with a serial attached terminal figures with a problem with flow control when serial terminal has printer connected to it etc. because ssh disables xon/xoff on associated terminal. At present ssh client always disables xon/xoff on associated terminal device, regarding of it's previous state, e.g. ixon and ixoff options were set or not. By searching the google

Eliminating 'Unprintable ASCII' characters
Hi all, I have a csv file containing words with *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters (described in the following table). Are there any viable method in eliminating these characters? I realise that *EXTENDED ASCII* characters (i.e , ¡, ¢, £, ¤ etc) can be removed or replaced via *"gsub"* or *"gregexpr"* functions. But am not certain with the *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters. Your

iaxmodem / hylafax receive problem
Hi, I'm trying to receive faxes using hylafax / iaxmodem but I just can't get it to work. We're using Sangoma E1 cards and have calls coming in over PSTN. I've tried turning hardware echo cancellation off but it makes no difference. This is what I get in /var/spool/hylafax/log: [root at faxhost log]# cat c000000003 Jan 14 12:44:43.39: [ 3403]: SESSION BEGIN 000000003 18005551212

Re: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 7, Issue 260

Just add a 5vdc solid state relay ('cause you can't sink too much current out of the RS232C port). Substitute "2", "4" or "6" in the

bug report: apcsmart (WIN) 940-0024C connect fail, problem with command 'E'
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I have several old, yet functioning APC Smart-UPS (Model 600LS, Part AP600I, Firmware 6JI, no EEPROM, from 1991). They are not supported by Powerchute any more. I run NUT 2.6.5-4 on Windows XP SP3. I use COM1 port with cable 940-0024C. The connection fails with APC Smart protocol driver 3.0 (2.6.3-3534:3540M), APC command table version 3.0 or higher - it works with APC

OpenSSH clients causing deadlocks
OpenSSH clients (in all releases I have been able to test with, including 4.7p1) when talking protocol version 2 seem to be sending SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_REQUEST messages with the want_reply field set to 0. This leads to a problem when the server they interact with does not support the service being requested. If the channel request is for, say, command execution, and the server does not support

static linking of /usr/sbin/tc?
Hello, I am trying to revive an old linux server installation, which still has libc5. Sadly, most current software does not compile anymore on this system, including the tc utility. As with other tools (net-tools, coreutils, procps etc.) I tried to compile and statically link (LDFLAGS=-static) on a more recent linux machine and copy the static binaries over to the old machine. But no luck

Failed to recieve Fax: Asterisk - IAXModem - Hylafax
Hi, I've tired to forward a Fax from Asterisk to Hylafax. It works so far until I tried with a Fax machine. I just got error shown in the log below. I'm not sure why. I've tested it with other 6 machines and they all work fine. Do you have any idea why? Transfer rate issues with OpenSSH SFTP Server - Verified on Mac OS X 10.2.X and FreeBSD 5.0
First, I have what I consider to be decent experience with SSH, and have been running VanDyke's VShell SSH server for considerable time under Windows 2000/XP. Recently, I have been working with Mac OS X and FreeBSD and have been using OpenSSH 3.4p1 The sftp server seems to have major issues when serving files, specifically, if one data stream is used the transfer rates fluxuate between 80 and
