Regarding hanging of ssh upon exit
Hi, I would like to briefly comment on a problem mentioned in the file "TODO" and also in the OpenSSH FAQ (question 3.10), namely the hanging of an ssh connection (on Linux) if there are active processes. It is stated that this has to do with the fact that children of the shell are not killed upon exiting the shell. However, the problem also occurs if a process is started with

HP-UX 9 problems (hangs on logout; tty isn't sane)
I'm trying to get OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 to run on HP-UX 9.05. I've had some decent results, but I'm also seeing some problems. I'm using the EGD (I configured with --with-prngd-socket=/tmp/entropy). * Compiling required some changes, which I've attached. Two of the changes are "hackish", and not at all suited to inclusion in the source tree, but they might point

Hook problem
I am trying to use /etc/libvirt/hooks/qemu to control the startup of several guests with interdependencies. The goal is to delay the start of guest B until the DNS server on guest A is running. To accomplish this, I wrote a qemu hook script that detects the normal startup of guest B and start a second script in the background to wait until the preconditions to start B are fulfilled, then start B

HPUX 9.05 & Samba 2.0.0 & problems -> solved !
Hi there ! I just solved the problem that produced following error in smb.log file: 'check_access_allowed_for_current_user: The process is no longer waiting!' Since nobody gave me any help I had to dig this out myself :-) This error happens if two programs hold more than 10 same files simultaneously open through Samba and check_access_allowed_for_current_user() gets called. And this

sshd hangs on logout -- is this a bug?
In the changelog, there is an entry: 20001129 - (djm) Back out all the serverloop.c hacks. sshd will now hang again if there are background children with open fds. Does this mean that this is regarded as expected (and correct) behavior, that should not change in the future, or does it mean that this behavior is a known problem that someone will eventually fix? --Adam -- Adam McKenna

Problems with descriptions.
Hi guys! I can?t find an answer in google, so my last hope is this mailing list. Story. I have two servers with same arrays. Servers connected by DRBD. I used ocfs2 as file system, also I used NFS4 to access to the ocfs2 drive. I do not have any idea, but the allocated descriptors in /proc/sys/fs/file-nr increasing every time while drive accessed. So after some time allocated descriptions over

[PATCH] Add scp -1 and -2 options to OpenSSH-3.0.2p1
Here is a patch to add the missing scp -1 and -2 options to eliminate confusion for users familiar with the commercial version of SSH. OT - RE: When will quality increase be unnoticable?
In all the abx'ing and ear testing I've done in the past for my classical and jazz music I have never seen or heard bladeenc output worse than xing. (worse than lame, yes) Now, to sorta keep this ON topic. I have never heard a an xing, blade OR lame encoded mp3 sound better than a Garf tuned RC2 encode of my Jazz and Classical stuff, (not a large sample set). Also, I haven't used

SSH connection hanging on logout
I am running OpenSSH 2.9p1 on SunOS 5.7 w/4-24-2001 patch cluster. Like many other users I am seeing the hanging session on logout with background processes. This is a huge problem for me as I centrally manage 50+ machines with rdist across ssh. Instead of just complaining about the problem I thought I would put my CS degree to use and try to track down the problem myself. For starters,

Run rsync even not connected
I hopethis hope this makes sense. How do you make rsync run even when not physically connected to the server? In other words, I run rsync from the terminal via vnc and when I log out of the connection, rsync stops running. Is there a script or something I can use? Sent from my iPhone

Re: An introduction to compressed audio with Vorbis
On <http://cs.leander.isd.tenet.edu/~mitchell/vorbis_intro.html>: "Each snapshot has a 16-bit number for the "loudness" of the sound, meaning that the scale is fairly fine-grained - it ranges from -32,768 (complete silence during that snapshot) to 32,767 (the loudest volume measurable)." That's not correct. A single sample is not meaningful by itself; each sample

Four bitcode generated with plugin-opt=save-temps
Hi I use the LDFLAGS=" -flto -fuse-ld=gold -Wl,-plugin-opt=save-temps " to generate the makefile and to make the whole program. However, found four different kinds of bitcode for each target. For example, I am compiling coreutils. For the program "nohup", I can get nohup.0.0.preopt.bc nohup.0.2.internalize.bc nohup.0.4.opt.bc nohup.0.5.precodegen.bc If I am right, I

Switchtower isn''t restarting lighttpd
I''ve got switchtower set up, and it seems to work fine except for one problem: It doesn''t successfully restart lighttpd. I have the following task in my deploy.rb file: desc "Restart the web server" task :restart, :roles => :app do sudo "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/lighttpd.sh restart" end This is on a FreeBSD system, so it''s using the rc script to
