Bug: Copying several files to non-directory.
Dear openssh people, Here's something to try: $ echo a >a $ echo b >b $ echo c >c $ $ scp a b c $ $ echo $? 1 $ cat a b c a b b Ouch! Also, for comparison: $ cp a b c cp: copying multiple files, but last argument `c' is not a directory Try `cp --help' for more information. $ rcp a b c rcp: c: Not a directory. $ Note that the cp behavior is specified in SuSv2.

Status of SCP vulnerability
Hello, I would like to request an update of the progress regarding fixes for the recently disclosed SCP vulnerability (CVE-2018-20685, CVE-2019-6111, CVE-2019-6109, CVE-2019-6110) It has been stated that CVE-2018-20685 has been patched in november but there are currently no information available on the progress of patches regarding the other CVEs. Will there be a patched release any time soon?

scp remote-to-remote implementation
(Please when replying include my email since i'm not subscribe to this list) Hello all, I always wanted to be able to copy from one remote location to another from a master server/workstation using something like: scp [-r] server1:/path/to/dir server2:/path/to/dir2 And have scp "know" that i mean to copy from server1 to localhost and from localhost to server2 or something of that

Bug Report and patch fix
Hi I found this issue in scp in the following blog link http://oldpapyrus.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/scp-a-funny-error/ when the wrong local file name is specified in local to remote transfer mode, scp first tries to establish the connection rather than to check first whether the file is proper or not. However I could not find a reported bug for this. I am attaching the fix as patch for this

openssh-unix-dev Digest, Vol 100, Issue 3
Works on my netbsd tinkerbox. NetBSD 5.0.2 NetBSD 5.0.2 (GENERIC) It uses rlimit. Privsep sandbox style: rlimit I also get warnings during make. fmt_scaled.c: In function 'scan_scaled': fmt_scaled.c:84: warning: array subscript has type 'char' fmt_scaled.c:111: warning: array subscript has type 'char' fmt_scaled.c:155: warning: array subscript has type 'char'

program-prefix does not work
the configure option --program-prefix does not work although it is listed in teh configure --help output. The attached patch fixes these issues: 1) program prefix is not substituted in configure 2) program prefix is not present in Makefile 3) scp requires use of a known "scp" program -- bryan diff -cr openssh-2.9.9p2.orig/Makefile.in openssh-2.9.9p2/Makefile.in ***

sftp Vs scp
I almost never use bare 'scp' or 'sftp' anymore; I start with either 'rsync' or, if 'rsync' is not present and not installable on one end or the other, the "tar-over-bare-ssh" approach: ``` tar cf - localpath | ssh remote.host 'cd remotepath && tar xvf -' ``` I'd be in favor of one of the following: 1. 'scp' goes away, and

-1 and friends
Yo All! Well I work on a diverse number of OS's with a diverse number of clients. Some use F-Secure, SecureCRT, PuTTY, SSH.COM. OpenSSH, etc. with a wide variety of versions between each, some from source, some from rpms, etc... Basically a lot of legacy stuff that no one has the time to update. In fact I am working on a couple of OpenSSH config problems in the last few days. Sometimes we

spc restarts
I was wondering why scp didn't have a restart-in-the-middle option when transferring a large file. Isn't that something that is supported by the underlying ssh protocol? Is there some other program that can give me this functionality ?

The conclusion regarding resume patch
Dear folks, To me suspend and resume is not a fancy feature. It is a must have like all the other conveniences and simplicity that scp provides. I agree with Damien that this will cause multiple protocol versions to float around, but we can't make omelettes without breaking eggs. The question is how important is this feature? I would say it is very basic compared to other fancy features

stty: : Operation not supported on transport endpoint
Hi! I am using OpenSSH_3.6.1p2, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090701f on my Mandrake 9.1 machine. I used to run fetchmail to get emails from IRIX 6.3 system which has OpenSSH_3.4p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090602f. I had to reinstall my Mandrake, and after that ssh gives me strange error messages. When I run command: ssh -f -L 1234:irixhost.somedomain.fi:110

Deprecation of scp protocol and improving sftp client
scp may be an ugly protocol, but it works, works nicely from a command line, and is quite convenient. FTP (and, presumably, sftp) is not nearly as convenient. Why do you think your recommendation to "use sftp instead" keeps falling on the deaf ear? Usability, perhaps? Perhaps it's time to stop preaching to people about what they should use, but instead - if you really want a change

man pages won't work
Hi, I am sorry about this stupid question but after compilation of openssh-2.3.0p1 the manpages were installed but a man ssh gives only unstructured response without underlined lines etc. A nroff -man sshd.8 gives the same output but the contents of the file shows a nroff-format. Any ideas? My system is a HP-UX 11.000 with the pam-patch. regards Stephan -- LDS Brandenburg Dr. Stephan Hendl

AIX SSH 2.x ssh and /etc/ftpusers rcp rlogin WRONG !
IF ssh is a replacement for rlogin, rsh etc I can accept it respecting rlogin=false as rlogin does and rsh does not, however scp is a replacement for rcp, and rcp does NOT use rlogin attribute, so the implementation is NOT standard as scp fails if rlogin=false, but rcp succeeds, as documented. thanks mark

This release or next.
I think we need to revisit the whole 64bit integer support. It has crept from sftp over to scp now. And I think we are at a point where [..] # If we don't have int64_t then we can't compile sftp-server. So don't # even attempt to do it. if test "x$ac_cv_have_int64_t" = "xno" -a \ "x$ac_cv_sizeof_long_int" != "x8" -a \

Transferring file to local machine when SSHing into a foreign box
One can log into a remote shell via SSH, and one can use an FTP application to log in via SFTP using the same credentials over SSH. Why then, can one not initiate a file transfer from the remote host to the local host when logged into a shell via SSH? I know that I could use scp or rsync to move the files, but the requires authenticating which is not something that I can always do from the host.

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding: 1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group. 2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported. 3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =) Completed: 1) mdoc2man.pl .. Commited into
